Macdonald Compleat Angler

Macdonald Compleat Angler

📍 Marlow Bridge, Bisham, Marlow
★★★★ 7.7 (112 reviews)

"Went for the most beautiful run in the morning, the surrounding country lanes etc are fantastic. Hotel is old, creaky floorboards meant I (a light sleeper) suffered with broken sleep, breakfast was disorganised, cobwebs everywhere, and stains (e.g. what looked like blood stain on the curtain and wall?) and excessive unhygeinic furniture in room. I would visit this hotel, not stay."

📍 Fieldhouse Ln, Marlow

"Swimming pool use for children is limited to 45 min slot and after 4pm! This is not shown anywhere when booking the hotel and a piece of paper is presented to you on arrival! Even their own website does not mention this but advertises a pool and children’s pool on site! We would not have booked this hotel if we had known this in advance!"

The George and Dragon - A Heartwood Inn

The George and Dragon - A Heartwood Inn

📍 The George and Dragon, Marlow
★★ 9.1 (49 reviews)

"Can't fault the accommodation. Beautifully decorated, quirky room with all the facilities you need. Air conditioning was a very welcome addition with the recent heatwave. Superbly located with only a few strides needed to all the bars and restaurants that the beautiful Marlow has to offer. We both gave it 10/10! Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again."

The Chequers Marlow

📍 53 High St, Marlow
★★★ 8.3 (75 reviews)

"Party central. Good location right in the centre of town. Beautiful old beamed inn. Good breakfast. We stayed Friday and Saturday and our room overlooked the high street. Customers sitting at tables on the street below our windows, which we couldn’t open because of the cigarette smoke drifting upwards. Friday night is live band night. Very good band, loud, finished dead on 11pm. Saturday, customers outside chatting and drinking until 2am Sunday morning."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Bisham Abbey this wwekend, room, comfortable, nice bathroom, lovely surroundings, walk down to the thames, only slighht minus points, steam room could have been hotter, i appreciate there would be a lot of people using the steam room and Sauna, they could have been a little cleaner, brekfat great, just heat the plates a little more please. Overall excellent place to stay, just down the road to lovely Marlow."

📍 1 Mill Rd, Marlow
★★★ 7.7 (13 reviews)

"A free car park is a cracking start to my visit, and there's plenty of spaces for vehicles. There's no theme to this pub. It's just a nice boozer. Good selection of any type of beer, lager, ciders, and shorts. I received a warm welcome from Nicole and, after a quick pint, was shown to my room (6). It had a single bed and was fine for just me. There's no air-conditioning, but that wasn't a problem. The window opened, providing sufficient ventilation. The en-suite was fine, too, but be careful with those 2 steps if you get up in the middle of the night. My room also had a perfectly decent TV with freeview and netflix access. The stairs that lead to the room are quite steep, I'd say, so do bear that in mind. Breakfast was perfectly decent and freshly cooled on demand. My only criticism is that it was served on a cold plate, which is just a personal bug bear of mine, and the breakfast cooled quickly as a result. Would I stay again? Definitely. "

Macdonald Compleat Angler ★★★★
"This hotel is in an absolutely wonderful spot, just over Marlow Bridge from the pretty town and overlooking the river and weir. The public spaces are extremely sell-appointed, smart and comfortable. I mark service down on attention to detail: we were disappointed not to have been warned by the hotel that Marlow Bridge would be closed on the principal day of our booking; also, though we stayed for two days, our room was not serviced. In the event the bridge closure was less complete than predicted so our stay was not really affected materially. On facilities, I would say that the room, though very comfortable, was dated: though the bathroom was very good, there was notably only one power socket available in the room, far from the bed, and slightly tired-feeling furnishings. But we greatly appreciated the welcome for our dog, and we enjoyed two excellent breakfasts and good hospitality at the bar. Overall, of course we enjoyed our stay very much, but at this price level the service and accommodation could do with sprucing up."

The George and Dragon - A Heartwood Inn ★★
"Not good staff not very friendly waited 4mins to be seated even though there were only 4 table used. Once seated I noticed under a table opposite half eaten Yorkshire pudding from Sunday this was Tuesday also when the sun shined through the window you could see that the floor under the table was filthy. I expected better"

Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre ★★
"We didn’t know that we could stay here and use the facilities throughout the place. The sport centre hod basic room but as it was a disabled room, it was larger than usual. The room had good WiFi as we needed to work here. The breakfast hall reminded me of school dinner hall and self service breakfast was part of the cheap room rate. There are no restaurant, just a cafe for lunch and dinner. Choices were limited, so we drove to the kebab van instead! This place was cheaper than the holiday inn and we vowed to never stay at the awful Travelodge, so this was the best choice available."

"We stayed here for one night, and enjoyed it very much. The room and en-suite was very clean and well appointed. The staff that we met were friendly and helpful. What more could you want in the centre of Marlow. We would certainly stay here again."
