We are in Spain for about 3 weeks and will be out and about exploring and, hopefully, tasting some fine food. We came to La Fonda with high expectations as the place is very smart and says on its website "Fresh food, exquisitely prepared in stunning surroundings". It was a really smart place and the food was good but the service, despite being smiley and friendly was rather hit and miss. For example, when it came to my first choice of main when I was told, very flatly, that there was no more. I ordered something else, only to be told again, about 10 minutes later that there was no more of that choice either. I wasn't offered any alternative just the lottery of choosing something else off the rapidly shortening menu. So, I chose: - Asparagus in textures, accompanied by cured red mullet and morbier textures - Fish of the day, accompanied by grilled fennel and pak choi, creole sauce and micro mix of sprouts - Lemons from my land, Málaga lemon cream tartlet. bergamot and toasted almond ice cream The food was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite creative, well presented and tasty. It was just the service, throughout, that was a bit random and didn't quite flow.
