The only resort on Manitou Beach, facing Lake Manitou and with its own private beach, is an ideal place to stay when visiting Canada's "Dead Sea" Lake Manitou.

Please let us know when you have new kitchen staff and we will consider returning. I have never eaten 2 worse meals. The waiter tried but the quality and preparation of the food is the worst I have seen. Steak that was not chewable. Pizza that was raw....once I cooked it at home it was a waist of power because it was still terrible....no taste, hardly any sauce, cheese or toppings. It takes work to mess up a pizza that badly. Really sad as the restaurant used to be quite good.

When we spent $300 for a room with a King size bed and jacuzzi we thought we would be getting a luxury suite, and we certainly thought we would get friendly customer service. We thought wrong. Manitou Springs Resort is old and run down. They are dishonest in charging as much as they do for their rooms. Some of the railing in the swimming pool area was held together with duct tape. I kid you not. Much of the hotel decor has not been updated since the 1970s. The wooden window frames in the restaurant were rotting. Upon check in we asked if we could get a bucket of ice brought to our room with wine glasses. "We don't offer that kind of service here," was the response. "Not even for a $300 room?" "No." We were disappointed because we paid extra for a little bit of luxury for one night, but we were not to be offered such a thing. There were not even any real cups in the room, let alone wine glasses. We had our swim in the salty pool and enjoyed it. The restaurant was ok, but nothing fancy at all. The over all staff attitude is not one of service, although our waiter was an exception. I would recommend against going to this hotel until there is new management and they change their attitude. At the moment they are just ripping people off.

We left Alberta to travel to Manitoba. On our way back because it’s such a long drive we decided to stay at this spa hotel. Calling to make a reservation the lady I spoke to I could hardly understand and politely asked her to slow down so I could understand her. I wanted to give her my CAA card but because it was 90% full she wouldn’t take it. We arrived shortly after 5:00. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Then went down to pool till 6:50 and wanted to have something to eat at the pool side restaurant and the fellow said he was closing early. No signs up to say that. He said it would take too long to make a hamburger because he was closing early. So he did finally say he’d make a chicken burger. In morning we wanted to use pool early before we went back on our trip. Unfortunately the pool doesn’t open till 9:00. My husband decided then to go for breakfast in the bigger restaurant. Only one server and restaurant was full and people were asking for coffee and waiting patiently for their meals. So my husband left. We packed up and left. I asked the lady at the front desk who are the people who own this hotel. She said they were from out east and there is about five different partners. I think they need to know that if this is supposed to be a popular spa place to go in Canada. they need to change these things. Even the toiletries should be top quality , not a mix match of soap, shampoo and lotion. All in all this place doesn’t have good customer service. We won’t be back.

Came here for a work meeting and it's safe to say we won't be back nor will we be recommending them to anyone. Catering service was very poor - food not brought at the agreed upon time, items missing, plates not cleared in a timely manner, vegetarian meals completely forgotten. Food was overpriced, especially considering the quality and the mandatory 18% tip. We were also charged a mandatory 18% tip for standing at the bar for 10+ minutes to buy our own drinks, even though it was separate from the catering at the restaurant across the hall. Rooms were acceptable for the price, but a bit dated and there was only one slow elevator for the whole hotel. Pool patio was closed despite the beautiful weather. One good thing I can say is that the hotel gym, though small, had decent equipment. It's a shame because we liked the pool itself and the town is very nice with lots to do in the area.

I felt that the cleanliness has really gone down yet the price of entry to the pool keeps going up. There were leaves, debri on walkway to enter pools and stayed like that everyday I went. Stuff was on the bottom of pool that should be vacuumed out daily. Won’t return again.

I booked a room with balcony as I was thinking it would be nice to sit out there in the evening or early morning, I paid the extra price for a balcony to be very very disappointed, the room is old and worn,if you sit on the balcony It was right above the restaurant next to the exhaust fan for the cooking,so as soon as you opened any door or window that's all you could smell, that fat Greasy fast food smell,so I couldn't sit on my balcony so it was a waste of the extra $ I paid, the sink in my room was very slow to drain, probably blocked,I never used the shower as we showered at the pool,I was only here for 2 nights,so I never complained but if I had of been staying longer I would have complained, the mineral pool like the rest of the place is tired,old/ run down, considering the prices they charge no investment is being made on the up keep,in the pool its self it's scruffy, some sad tropical plants that really need to be scrapped or looked after better, there is the spin dryer in the changing room for your swim suits which is a great idea, but again it smells,I'm assuming it never gets cleaned ,not a lot to do In the area but there is a drive in movie on at the weekends, and aqua fit in the pool on a Monday,I didn't do either as I didn't realize they were on until I was leaving. This could be a lovely facility but needs an injection of cash. The elevator is very, very slow, often, you are better using the stairs, I only came here to experience the salt pool and now I've done that I won't be returning, which is a shame as I drove from Alberta, so a long drive for me,but I don't appreciate being ripped off for accommodation that doesn't live up to the $ I paid, for 2 nights I paid $480 no breakfast included, with a balcony I couldn't sit on and enjoy, which also needed cleaning and sweeping outside, you provided with an old rag,but seriously I had to wait for my room to be ready when I arrived, and I still had to clean my own balcony furniture, not acceptable for the price I paid, there was a microwave in the room, fridge and a safe, the little beach over the road does have a few chairs and tables provided if you get there early enough in the day.

For over 20 years, I’ve been going for a soak once or twice a year in the mineral pool. My last visit there was more than disappointing. The change room floors were dirty, the bottom of the hot end of the pool was slimy, and there were chunks and flecks of various floaties everywhere. It was so disgusting, I wanted to call the health department, but couldn’t as it was a Sunday. I still may call them. Two thumbs down…and will never go back. Will tell everyone I know not to bother.

We loved coming here for the healing waters. It’s been about 4 years since our last stay-it has drastically increased in price-and drastically reduced in service and cleanliness. The water NEVER had little tadpoles in it before-this stay it does. The room was over $250/night and the carpets are dirty, the heater in the bathroom is rusted out and the toilet plugged on our first evening. We decided to try an easy quick supper at the poolside watercrest cafe..we went down at 6:00pm, no one was around. After waiting at least 10 minutes I asked the pool attendant if anyone was working there-she replied they may be getting supplies. 10 more minutes go by and a crowd of people waiting, we left to go across the street to eat. The windowsills along the pool walkway were filthy, the showers in the women’s change rooms were dirty and had enough hair to know they weren’t cleaned daily-possibly not even weekly. And they’ve discontinued the “free breakfast”. We don’t plan to return. When a place jacks the prices but doesn’t deliver the quality for the price-we go elsewhere. Moose Jaw temple gardens has gone downhill too. Thankfully they are building a new spa at Dakota Dunes because sadly SK’s two “spas” are filthy.
