This is the second time this year we have stayed here for a weekend. Once again we had an outstanding stay. The room was amazing as the first time we came. Nick and Lisa were their usual selfs and nothing was too much trouble for them. Special thanks to Nick as his breakfast are to die for. Additionally the barman Sam was an absolute joy and he looked after us admirably throughout our entire stay. Perfect location to stay and visit the delights of North Yorkshire.

After seeing a previous review saying the owners were rude, corrupt and to be avoided at all costs, we were a little worried but always believe we need to make our own minds up anyway. I am so pleased we did do. The building did look a little tired when we arrived, but never judge a book by the cover. The welcome we received was amazing. We found the car park very easily (something else the other reviewer mentioned as minus). We were taken to our rooms by a lovely, friendly gentleman, whose name I forgot, sorry. The room (The Hare Room) was very light, bright and spacious. The bathroom is a little small - but then again, I'm a little on the larger side). The room was immaculately clean, well appointed and very, very comfortable. There is a little bench on the balcony outside the room and I can imagine spending many a happy hour there in the summer (hopefully) The owners are relatively new to the pub and had had a lot of work to do in a small amount of time in-between lock-downs to fettle the place. And it's well fettled! The bar area is warm and welcoming with well kept beers and a good choice on offer. We sat for a while before venturing out into the small town centre and enjoyed the atmosphere. We came back in for a nightcap (or two) and the banter and conversation in the bar were second to none. Breakfast was smashing. A good choice - of healthy and also hearty. We went for the hearty option. Freshly cooked and very filling. With choices of coffee/tea/toast and fruit juice etc to enhance the experience. The breakfast room is a really nice area too, colourful, warm and again, friendly. The next evening in the bar was as welcoming again. We went as strangers but really felt that we were leaving - if not as friends - as very welcomed guests. It was a delight to be there. The Rose and Crown is also in a very central position and only minutes away from the main Market Square. We could not recommend highly enough and if we are lucky enough to be able to be in the area again, there is no doubt we would stay here. The accommodation and the bar were really good - but the personalities of the owners and locals in the bar made all the difference. They are genuinely a credit to Malton and to Yorkshire in general. Thank you both for having us - we look forward to seeing you again. Love - Jill and John - oh and their dog Jilly is delightful too (must be the name)

Stayed here 1 night and what a really good place it is. The owners and staff were very friendly. The room we stay in was perfect a king size bed and a single bed , en-suite bathroom and tea /coffee making facilities . We were asked when we booked in what time we would like our breakfast in the morning and it was ready for us at the time we requested , and it was very tasty and plenty of it . We will definitely be staying there again . Thank you Lisa and Nick it was a pleasure staying .

Just returned from a 3 night break with my wife and 2 children. Could not fault the welcome we received from Sam the barman and everything got better from there. We met the owners nick and Lisa and they were outstanding. The accommodation was amazing. We stayed in the stag room overlooking a splendid court yard. Nothing was too much trouble for Lisa and nick. The breakfasts were too die for. The friendliness within the establishment was obvious to see and we had a special treat on the Saturday night with a live band. Would definately recommend and we WILL be returning.

Stayed for a concert at Castle Howard on a Sunday night. Room was beautiful, clean, modern & comfortable. Secure car parking & an excellent breakfast the following morning. Lisa even managed to arrange transport to & from the venue for us. Would highly recommend this place, feel like we’ve made new friends!

My Husband and I stayed for 3 nights at the Rose and Crown last weekend. Fabulous stay, owners Nick and Lisa and their team make you feel instantly welcome. The rooms are in a building at the back of the pub both have been recently refurbished to a very good standard, we stayed in the Hares Room, which was beautiful, very light, wonderfully refurbished and spotlessly clean. Very quiet and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed stay. Nick's breakfast's are top notch, with lighter bites of cereal and toast or something hot scrambled eggs, poached or a full English which is superbly cooked and filling, set us up for the day. The Saturday night we were there they also had live music on a band of two called 'The Bootleggers' what a treat it was to hear quality live music in a pub again. We went back each evening and had a couple of drinks in the bar, on each occasion there were several local , regulars in having a drink or two, each night without exception we were warmly welcomed and instantly included in the banter and conversation which we thoroughly enjoyed so Thank you everyone that made us feel so welcome! Lisa and Nick are so very genuine and really care about thierr guests, they also have 2 lovely dogs Jilly and their little pup Monty, both are just adorable and love to welcome new guests to! We can't recommend a stay here highly enough....Thank you Nick ,Lisa and team and the locals for such an amazing stay, we are already planning our next visit. Gilly and Paul Eastwood

Good clean accommodation, very friendly male owner (Nick), very helpful and couldn't do enough to help. The pub side of the business is closed on a Monday but didn't stop him being very accommodating for me and my daughter. Would recommend a stay here if you're in Malton North Yorkshire.
