The joke became "Cape Disappointment!" ...as one thing after another was just way off about our experience at Adrift. Was really looking forward to a 3 night stay with kid and partner, and a few big things disappointed us, making me really frustrated to have paid so much, for so little. 1) Too loud. Our suite was in the west wing, and we could hear other guests clomping up and down the stairs, and in the hallway all day long, until it finally quieted down at about 11:30. The bedroom wall is against the stairs, so especially loud there. Also, the entire hotel is surrounded by parking lot, and on the main access road to the beach - tons of traffic and car activity. 2) Poor sofa bed mattress. There are a lot of great, suitable, even comfortable options for pull-outs these days ...this was like the one you dread at your cousins house from way back in the day. We needed it, and it was terrible. Fair to assume folks need that 2nd bed in a suite - and it should be decent. 3) Restaurant was not great. Had dinner there one night, mediocre. Tried for the weekend brunch and got turned away as kitchen was short staffed. Staffing is hard right now ...but hotel has an obligation to communicate these things. Seemed like there was a lack in good management. Was really hoping to eat and drink there more. ...and several other small disappointments that added up to this place just isn't for us. Hotel is generally a bit funky - like a false veneer was painted over an old worn out hotel. It isn't quaint. It felt like I'd been duped a bit. Not as nice as the photos. And, I'm not a luxury person ...just an average person who expects decent value for the expense.
