Chautauqua Resort & Conference Center

We went for our yearly anniversary/husband's birthday trip to Chautauqua Resort. The pictures looked nice and it was available in the time frame we wanted. My husband said "It's a bit pricey" but the pictures deemed it worth it. We were there Aug 11, 2024 - Aug 14, 2024. I read the reviews previous to going and they all seemed pretty positive except for one. And hers is gonna sound a lot like mine. I don't know where the photos of this place came from online. That room didn't look like mine. Nice wood laminate floors, well lit room, beautifully framed pictures, writing desk, one picture has carpet are things that were not included in our $500+ stay. We got super creaky floors, any time we walked, creeeeak, some sorta noise came out of the floor. We were lucky too to get it overtop our heads. Anytime someone moved upstairs, we heard it. Dents or spots on the walls, old laminate on the floors, it was like a scene from the money pit. Everything was OLD and worn. The bathroom tub had stains, the bathroom door had paint chipping away at the bottom, there was no phone in the room either. Which seems like nothing, but really, maybe it wasn't there to slow us down from calling or telling someone this is NOT WORTH $500. I went and explained to the front desk that the room we got, was not what we ordered. She told me that I already got a discount from ******* and she couldn't give me one. That's not why I'm telling her. I'm telling her because our room is a sh*t hole. I would never pay money for that. We won't either be coming back. She said that our room had been recently renovated and she kept saying it over and over like it was going to magically make our room look like the pictures online and then she said the second and third floors look like the pictures. Uh....what in the actual f---? So, if you don't care that it's a risk getting a room that looks like their advertised pictures, that your hotel room door looks like it isn't shut because you can see light through it, that you won't have a phone to call and say WHAT THE HECK about your room, then go ahead, book your stay. The nicest people at the front desk were there at arrival and when we left. Two older looking ladies who, if I'd had patience to explain why we won't ever come back, probably would have listened unlike the girl who didn't know what she was talking about. We did get a call about my negative review on the way home from staying there and then didn't hear back. Someone was going to check the room we were staying in ...but what you'll find in room 137 (if memory serves) is that THAT room, looks nothing like their pictures. And no, it has NOT been renovated for a while.

Perfect location, quiet, nice rooms, amazing continental breakfast. We came to ride our bicycles so food and rest were key to our success. We were completely satisfied. My friend especially appreciated leaving the slider open through the night so we could enjoy the fresh ocean air. Close to everything and off the main drag so it was VERY quiet.

All in all, the hotel was pleasant. We rode bikes, went swimming in the pool, saw the beach and slept. Check in was somewhat slow as our room wasnt ready until almost 4 pm and we arrived at 2 pm. Staff was friendly. Hotel was further than town than i would have liked.

A bit expensive for a hotel in need of a face-lift. Breakfast was good, pool and hot tub were good. Bottom floor room had no screen so at night you had to shut everything up and it got too warm. Very long hike to beach. Bed was good water pressure was lacking..overall just OK

We were in Long Beach for Sandsations, the yearly sand sculpture building event on the Long Beach beachfront. We stayed on the 3rd floor, Rm 310 and loved it! Most if not all of the rooms (condo units) are owned by different owners, not every room/unit is decorated or outfitted the same. The unit we stayed in was perfectly outfitted, with huge TVs in the living room and bedroom. The kitchen had everything we needed pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. The only thing we needed, was a 2nd wineglass, but I went down to the Front Desk, and they were happy supply me with one. Other than that, there was nothing we needed that was not supplied. The room layout was different than we had ever encountered, with the bedroom at the back, but this meant the Living Room had a wide-open view of the dunes and the beach. My only small complaint is the wi-fi signal in our unit was weak, (3 bars) and almost unusable in the bedroom, (1 bar). I could still access the internet and keep up with emails, etc. in the living room & kitchen/dining area, so it was not an inconvenience, just something that surprised me in this day and age where wi-fi extenders and upgraded wi-fi routers are so inexpensive. Previous posts have mentioned there is no A/C, this true. Most times of the year in Long Beach A/C is not needed. Only in the late afternoon on our 2nd day with sun out and beating right onto the deck and Living Room sliding door it got pretty warm inside. If we had A/C we would have used it... The pool looked great, we did not actually use it, but there was always some kids and adults using it during the open hours. We also did not take advantage of the included free breakfast so cannot comment on how good it was.

They advertise having a hot tub, but once you try and use it with your family, anyone under 18 will be told they can't use it! Can you imagine paying HOA fees in a facility your family can't fully utilize! This hotel is seriously dated, smells bad, and staff are aweful!

The unit, was old, but it was very neat, and very clean, everything there was old, but everything in good condition, it just remind me of my grandma‘s house. Loved everything about it. It was a pleasure to stay there!

This place is a hidden gem. Easy access to the beach, beautiful rooms, and an awesome staff. Out of the way of the Hustle and Bustle, but close enough to it that you don't miss out on the action. We love it.

I cannot say enough about the staff!! They went above & beyond for our stay! We put in a special room request for my autistic grandson. The original room was not going to be ready so they upgraded us (no charge). Unfortunately, After the first night we had a family emergency and had to check out two days in early. They were so gracious and accommodating! They went the extra mile to make sure we were fully refunded for the rest of the stay. I am so grateful for their kindness!
