It had everything I needed for a budget solo trip and was a great stay.
I stayed in a 6-person female dormitory for 4 nights. The toilet and shower were shared, but they were in the room and only the people staying in that room could use them, so it was easy to predict usage and read the time, which was convenient. It was also convenient that they were close to the bed and locker. It was cleaned properly during the day and my roommate's manners were good, so it was clean. Hair dryers are available for free at the front desk. The airflow is strong, so even long hair dries quickly.
The bed is surrounded by walls and curtains, so it's like a private room, and the fact that privacy is maintained was also very good. This is the main reason I decided on this accommodation.
The bed has a locker, power outlet, and reading light, so there was no inconvenience in managing valuables, charging my smartphone, or doing simple preparations. The mattress was soft and the linens were clean, so I was able to sleep comfortably.
The staff were very kind and friendly. I'm not very good at English, but the staff spoke in a way that was easy to understand and listened to me sincerely.
Other facilities that are convenient for budget travel include a washing machine and dryer, paid lockers, breakfast service, and a kitchen.
The washing machine and dryer cost £5 each, but they were convenient because they reduced the amount of luggage you had to carry. The price of the lockers varies depending on the size and time of use, but you could leave your luggage in a safe place before checking in and go out.
The breakfast service was £7, which is reasonable considering the cost of living in London. You can freely choose bread, ham, cheese, salad, cereal, yogurt, etc. in buffet style. Everything is fresh and delicious. The staff were well-mannered, so I enjoyed using the service.
Prices in London are high, so the free-to-use kitchen was very useful for saving on food costs. There are several local supermarkets in the neighborhood, so you can save on food costs by buying ingredients and drinks there and cooking or heating food. I bought prepared foods and pre-cooked foods, stored them in the refrigerator, and ate them every day after heating them up, but they were never stolen or ransacked. The free shelves had condiments, tea, pasta, etc. left by previous guests, so if you use them well, you can save a lot on food costs. The kitchen was clean, as it was well organized by the staff and many guests also used it with good manners.
I didn't use it, but there was a cafe where you could order snacks and a bar where you could drink alcohol in the hostel. In particular, the bar had a good atmosphere at night, with many people enjoying themselves drinking. If you like alcohol and are good at conversation, I'm sure you will have a fun experience.
The only inconvenience was that the nearest metro and bus stops were a little far away. The nearest metro station and bus stop are about a 10-15 minute walk away. The surrounding area is not bad and it's a quiet place, but it's a little scary to walk alone on unfamiliar streets at night.
Tourist attractions such as the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are within walking distance. On the other hand, if you want to go to other places, you need to plan your trip taking into account transportation and time.
Overall, it's a very good hostel with a simple and very cost-effective stay.
It was one of my very good memories from my first trip to London.
I would like to use it again when I travel to London.
