We stayed at the Hotel Hirsch for a half-board weekend at the beginning of November. It's a shame that you can't find warm Black Forest hospitality in the time-honored Hirsch. Most of the staff are friendly, but they can also be unfriendly - we were always unlucky at coffee time. The charm of the furnishings - from rustic to 80s modernization, which is already getting old - well. The food is solid and good, but also without any innovation or inclination towards creativity. The culinary “greeting from the kitchen” is ridiculous both times; we would recommend leaving it out, it only damages the reputation of the kitchen. The service is friendly and attentive, but otherwise has no idea about anything, neither wine nor anything else. Our superior room was too narrow, if you stay for two nights you don't put anything in the closet but expect space for 2 travel bags - and not on the floor. Beds and everything else clean and good, but sorry - that's to be expected. The minibar has been removed without replacement, the hangers are steal-proof and therefore unusable for wet jackets after the tour - because there are no hooks etc. etc. Staying outside the dining room or room? None. Just a few armchairs in the passage to reception. So no bar or any kind of lounge. A pity! The only thing that is above average and usable is the sauna in the basement. The deer can't do anything about it now, but: the place itself is very charmless and uninteresting - the Black Forest has more attractive corners.
