We stayed at the AluaSoul Carolina for one week, all inclusive My Favourite Club, at the end of October. This was the last week before the hotel closed down for the winter season, so parts of the hotel e.g. the Sky Bar and the Night Club were shut. The nearby shops were also in the process of closing for the winter. Location – the hotel is situated on the seafront next to a small bay and sandy beach. It is about a 45 minute walk into Cala Ratjada via road, or there is a bus or tourist train which leave from outside the hotel. There is a small parking area in front of the hotel if you have a hire car, or plenty of street parking. It’s a quiet location, which suited us fine. Rooms – we were on the 9th floor and had fabulous views over the bay. On a very clear day, Menorca is even visible in the distance. Although all rooms face the sea, to be guaranteed of a sea view you really do need to be on floors 7 or above to avoid the trees blocking your view. Rooms were very clean. Rooms have a balcony, free safe, mini bar/fridge and tea making facilities. Food and drink – food was a bit hit and miss. It’s a buffet, so if you choose something you don’t like you can always leave it and choose an alternative. We found some dishes to be overcooked, some undercooked, some ok, and some excellent. There are meat and fish options, and a smaller vegetarian choice. There was a limited range of drinks included on the all inclusive tariff. Cocktails were good. Staff – staff were all friendly and helpful and work very hard. Our request for additional pillows was fulfilled the next day. Entertainment – the entertainment was moved indoors for this week as the outdoor temperatures were cool in the evenings. The singers in the evening were very good and we really enjoyed their performances. We enjoyed our week here, and were sorry to be going home.
