A word of warning! I booked this hotel a few weeks ago for a business trip to a nearby location. It has good reviews and the food menu looked good. Three days before I travelled I received an email advising me that when I arrived I would find my room key in a key box. This set alarm bells ringing and I emailed the hotel to ask if the hotel was open and would I be able to get dinner and breakfast in the morning. I received a phone call from a staff member who advised me that the restaurant is only open at the weekends so they would not be able to provide dinner and in the morning I could have ‘a lovely’ continental breakfast! She then told me that the nearest restaurants would be in the village of Bala 7 miles away. Having driven all the way down from Scotland the last thing I wanted to do was have to go out for my dinner and not be able to enjoy a drink with it. I cancelled and stayed in Bala instead. I understand that the hotel is in a small village and it may not pay to open the restaurant midweek but my point is that there is no mention on their website of the lack of food available. When I pointed this out to the person who called she told me that they are in the process of updating the website. When I checked this morning the menu page is now unavailable but still no mention that no food is available midweek.
