Very clean, beautiful scenery. When checking in, we were charged a $100 resort fee plus 2 breakfasts.

The views are lovely, but it's very overpriced for the level of service and amenities on offer. Some thoughts: 1. It's very understaffed. We sat in the dining room for almost 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The service was fine once it happened, but it was clear that there just weren't enough staff on hand. The concierge at the front desk (Duck) was very helpful, but he really was the only one. They're charging Four Seasons prices with Motel 8 service. (Although, the staff in the spa were great). 2. The rooms are nice, but you can absolutely hear the people in the room next to you. Very little soundproofing, so do bring earplugs. 3. A lot of the property appeared to be in disrepair - peeled and faded paint, open trash/debris, etc. Again, they're charging premium prices, but it's not being kept-up and maintained like a premium property. 4. Considering they're automatically charging you a "resort fee" of $35 dollars a day, which includes breakfast, it's a little odd that the breakfast never included any meat. I'm not even that big a meat eater, but it seemed like a very purposeful choice by management to save on their costs. Again, this would not be a practice of a true premium property. 5. The bar wasn't open most nights we were there, so if you want a nightcap, you have to leave the property. That's frustrating.

Our room was a large studio with a balcony looking out to the ocean. It was furnished in all white...comfy and stylish. The resort is directly on the coast and the views from the path on the property are breathtaking. The breakfast the next morning was delicious...homemade blueberry muffins, granola (with toasted coconut!) and eggs, etc. We both agreed that we would definitely go back to stay at the resort again.

Me and my wife have stayed at Heritage many times before but nothing will match the experience we had this time. In the past we’ve met many front desk/concierge folks who just didn’t rise to the level of service we would expect from such an esteemed resort such as Heritage however this time was MUCH different! When we arrived Daniel AKA “Duck” was working the front desk and he immediately gave us a warm welcome. I told him we had a very long trip and as a result lost my ATM card and was unable to provide him a physical card for payment. Duck was extremely patient and understanding of our situation. He took care of us by making accommodations and allowed us to use ApplePay. THIS is what service is all about folks! To take it even further, Duck provided us a few small upgrades to our room which he did not have to do and we are so appreciative of him for doing this. He then made some GREAT suggestions for restaurants we could go to get a quick bite to eat (Patterson Pub!) which was UH-MAZING!! And then to top it off he helped us navigate to our room which was a little confusing at first but his directions were GREAT! Duck single handily made this experience what it was and I HIGHLY encourage the resort to give this man a raise AND a promotion! Thank you Duck & Thank you Heritage! We will be back! 🙏🙏

We stayed here the 4th of July weekend and had such a good time. We are local and it was a wonderful staycation. It was our first time in Mendocino and I can’t wait to go back! With beautiful beaches, hiking, scenery and wineries in Anderson Valley, this will be a place we gladly return to!

The location of this hotel is beautiful on a bluff overlooking the ocean and cliffs. It would seem most rooms offer outstanding views of the coast line. We stayed in a Cliffside Full Ocean View room and the view did not disappoint. It was decent sized with a wall of windows to the view and a door to a deck with two Adirondack chairs. The bathroom was fine, but a little dark. The fireplace was great and your source of heating, which was needed even in late June. This also means the fireplace may come on in the middle of the night to keep the room heated - so be aware. Two swivel chairs were in front of the fireplace and easy to turn toward the view. We had the complimentary breakfast each morning which was okay but pretty basic and limiting to the point of not even offering popular cereal options. The hotel is setup in clusters of rooms attached together and spread out over 35 acres of rugged coastal landscape. At the top of the resort is a charming old farmhouse that houses the restaurant. Overall the website pictures make the hotel appear a little more luxurious than it actually is. The hotel does not have a lot of amenities so a stay here is about enjoying the view and using it as a base to explore the area including lovely nearby Mendocino. You can park next to your room and there is a $35 resort fee.

The area is absolutely stunning and the hotel is gorgeous - but what really sets HH apart from anywhere else I’ve been is the staff. Sarah (manager) and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our vacation. The entire staff is so thoughtful. Sarah personally checked in and made sure we had everything we needed.

This review is not about a stay but about the exceptional service I received from Max while planning to surprise friends of mine. I knew my friend was planning to propose to his girlfriend en route to Heritage House so I called the front desk of the hotel and asked for help getting a bottle of champagne and a note delivered to their room. Max walked me through the process and even suggested I wait till the day-of to make sure my request was fulfilled. I called a few hours ahead and was fortunate enough to be connected to Max who remembered our conversation from earlier in the week. Not only did Max execute my vision perfectly, he went above and beyond in making sure I was satisfied with the plans. Thank you so much, Max!
