Haslem Hotel ★★★

📍 15 Lisburn Square, Lisburn

"The location is very good, there is a commercial street at the door. The design inside the hotel is quite nice, but the room smells a bit and cannot be ventilated. In addition, the dining downstairs is a bit expensive, so it is recommended to find food outside."

"Apologies if I miss spelt your name. But your really are outstanding at what you do fantastic service!!!!! The hotel appeared to be short staffed on the 20th June 21st June but nothing was a bother to you. "I never write reviews good or bad and have stayed in many hotels/ B&Bs/ Guest-houses but felt this needed saying. Very disappointing stay in cottage closest to entrance at road. We were greeted with a welcome of "Let's square up now". The oil boiler in the utility was stinking the place with the smell of fuel, advised by owner to keep utility door closed to try to contain fumes in room, not successful and hardly an acceptable situation, there was a wooden barrel converted into a chair which initially looked nice and kids liked it, until we noticed it was barely held together by a couple of light nails and random pieces of wood, lucky one of the kids wasn't hurt with it. Cable to back of television had a broken connection which was stuck together with a plaster that a previous guest may have mguiver'd. Issues shown to owner. No action was taken or appeared likely to be taken. Response was the cleaners hadn't told her anything and when you don't live in a house you don't know about issues. Couple of random dirty plates and bowls and a vape bottle found in the kids room. Pity because the apartment is actually quite nice if a few quid was spent on the minor items and the known issue with the boiler properly sorted. Boiler was definitely the biggest issue. We had headaches from the fumes and were checking the kids during the night to make sure they hadn't been gassed. Owner very unapologetic about the boiler saying "thousands" had stayed there with no issue. So clearly no intention to sort issue."

"Nice room, very comfortable and had the breakfast on the morning of 1st June - as I have a gluten allergy I am always nervous. But I need not have feared as my waitress was lovely and looked after me really well. She was really nice and kind an asset to your hotel. Also had contact with your household staff who were nice also."

Brookhall Cottages ★★★
"We stayed for 2 nights in Pear Tree cottage and enjoyed the stay apart from the WiFi was rubbish and the bed linen provided for the sofa bed was a duvet with no cover and pillows with no cases. And no sheets for the mattress. The sofa bed itself had seen better days and was a bit rickety. Our daughter who was using it didn't mind that so much for a short stay. Before we left we made sure the place was as we found it, emptied bins, cleaned up etc. After a few weeks and no sign of the deposit I wrote to enquire why and heard nothing. I then rang and the person I spoke to accused us of breaking the sofa bed and due to the cost of the repairs the £100 deposit would not be refunded. She also complained that there were too many of us in the cottage even though this was known when we booked. We even paid £20 to have our dog stay as well. I was shocked to say the least. The sofa bed was clearly a piece of crap and if it was damaged it certainly was not known by us or intentional. The fact we were never contacted afterwards to tell us our deposit was not being returned and why was shocking customer service. So like I say make sure you take photos and have the place checked and get your money back before you leave. Or you may never see that money again. We won't. Lovely place to stay otherwise. "
