The hotel rang me and said they had double booked so had moved us to a sister hotel. I had paid for private parking and the other hotel only had a public car park we had to walk to which I had to pay again for parking. It was a special occasion which was totally ruined.

I would recommend this hotel. It's clean, the beds, while the typical firm European mattress was comfortable and the staff was great. But, we did have some issues. This was an unusual hotel. The building is smaller than it seems on the website and its modern design makes it stand out among the older buildings surrounding it. I really liked the hotel overall, but I wasn't happy with one of the two rooms I booked. Each room has windows that are essential floor to ceiling. In the room given me, there were a total of 4 windows. Very unusual. That includes the one in the bathroom. All the other windows have blackout curtains except the one in the bathroom. It had a sheer curtain that was thicker than in the other part of the room, but it made me uncomfortable using it after dark. I could see out to the street because it was on the forest floor. While not on the ground floor, I figured people on the street could see in. Luckily, my brother switched rooms with me. It was relatively warm for mid October so I tried switching on the AC. I figured it was turned off for the season because it only blew slightly cool air and the air flow was weak. I looked for a way to open the windows, but I didn't see the handle. Pretty major oversight on my part. I have stayed in hotels with windows that weren't designed to opened so I thought that was the case ther in this hotel. When I called reception about the warm room, they were quick to send up a fan for me. Later, when I went into my brothers room, I smelled a chemical odor. I later realized it was exhaust from the trucks that would idle at the red traffic light below the window. I suggested he keep the windows closed until evening, but even then the smell crept in. The windows themselves were very good. When they were closed, there was no street noise at all. I didn't mention this to the people in reception. I imagine they are aware of it. My room, right next to his didn't have that problem at all, once I realized the windows could open. Duh. :0/ The TV was frustrating. It seemed as though there was no live TV available. Neither of us could find it. No channel surfing here. There were just app icons. I'm used to being able to watch the news if it's available in English. But, I'm happy to watch it in French when it's live. Even though I only speak a few words in French, I can still figure out what is going on. They had CNN but the channel would lag quite a bit, but I could watch France 24 in English as well as BBC. But news from apps fall short compared to a live broadcast. Otherwise the hotel was very nice as was the staff. We checked in on a Saturday and the man at reception mentioned the breakfast buffet. It sounded like it was a Sunday brunch. I asked if it was included with the room and he said no. I was surprised when he said it was €18. I'm not sure if that was the price everyday or just for Sunday brunch.
