Actually I don't have any complaints regarding this hotel. I think I received a rennovated room (t-rex room) which had a good room size and spacious bathroom. The room was also very clean. No noises, breakfast was good and also the staff was friendly. The only thing, the safe I think it was broken. I didn't use it, so it was fine. The hotel is also close to the trainstation and the 5 min walk to the city center of Leiden.

Disgraceful. Might as well be sleeping on the dual carriageway as it is that noisy. Asked to be moved but apparently full up. I am here now and know there are rooms available but their customer care for a returning customer is non existent. Please avoid at all costs

Hard to know where to start with this hotel but here goes. 1. No air conditioning in the room it’s summer and the room is hot and stuffy. Actually the room is so hot I’m sweating. So yes it was a pretty uncomfortable night’s sleep 2. No fridge in the room. Seriously, this is a basic essential! 3. The mattress was so soft/worn that it could not support my back. It was like sleeping in a hammock. My BMI is 19, so God help a larger person. I woke up with a sore neck due to the lack of support. 4. No door on the shower. Water goes all over the bathroom floor. This is clearly a safety hazard. 5. The extraction fan in the bathroom is non existent. Just finished my shower when security came banging on my door accusing me of smoking in the room as the fire alarm had gone off. No I’m not smoking the problem is the crappy exhaust fan. I was asked to open the window however it was locked and no one in the hotel had a key. 6. No bin in the room?? 7. At breakfast I wanted some toast only to be told that the hotel doesn’t own a toaster. Seriously this is one cheap hotel. Couldn’t check out of this place quick enough.

When we arrived a single receptionist was dealing with check-in, telephone calls, and guests whose magnetic room keys had stopped working. To her credit she remained unflustered, but it did mean that we had a bit of a wait to get to our rooms. These were comfortable, clean and quiet and had all that we wanted - with one exception. The shower was in the bath; and the bath did not have a non-slip base - so I had to be very careful indeed when I used it as advancing age means that I am not that steady on my feet. I have learned my lesson - always specify that I want a walk-in shower - but as many hotel guests must be in a similar state it seems odd not to allow for them.

The noise pollution throughout the 2 nights I've stayed here practically guaranteed almost a restless stay. Not to mention a slightly fishy scent that greets you when you enter each room. All the rooms facing the road were ridiculously noisy, but that's not it! If you stay in the lower tier rooms, you get to hear ABSOLUTELY door that opens and closes (the sound and vibration is magnified such that you feel as if it's your door that's getting opened) and if you're lucky like me - your next door neighbour's conversations at 11pm at 7am. Reception service was functional and pleasant (by Dutch standards). When I mentioned that I couldn't sleep the whole night, I was greeted with a response of "it's a hotel in an aging building & sure, we can move you to a quieter side of the hotel, but for a fee BUT we can't guarantee that it's soundproof " True enough, this time it was the VENTS that were producing noises the next morning. If it's not clear already, please avoid this hotel if you're a light sleeper. Giving it 2 stars because it's really close to the train station and it is quite clean for a motel style room.
