Saltmarshe Hall

We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer for a night at Saltmarshe Hall to celebrate my partner's December birthday. The location suited us perfectly, as the hall is tucked away in the South Yorkshire countryside. The building has been tastefully decorated with great care to keep its original character. Seasonal decorations had also been tastefully done, including some beautiful Christmas trees. The room we were originally booked into was rather chilly, so the receptionist quickly offered to switch us to a suite on the first floor. Both rooms were nicely decorated and furnished, but the suite was much more spacious. It also offered lovely views of the grounds, and countryside beyond. Our evening meal was delicious and imaginative with sufficient choices on the menu to please most palettes. There was only one vegetarian option, which thankfully wasn't a problem. After a comfortable night's sleep, we were greeted by a lovely sunrise over the river from our bedroom windows. The breakfast offered plenty of choice, and both of ours were delicious. The staff were all very pleasant and professional in all sections. We were lucky in our choice of night because the following day a wedding party of 200 were at the hall. Saltmarshe will certainly be on our list of places to return.

From the welcome at reception by Dianne to the quality of the bedding we had a fantastic stay. We stayed for two nights with dinner included, the menu was very good and the quality of the food was excellent so complements to the chef and kitchen staff. We were looked after at our table by Libby on the first night and Amber on the second they were both fantastic. Their skills of serving you and looking after you were second too none, complements to the manager and staff whom trained these two young ladies they were brilliant. Breakfast was also brilliant food and we were looked after by David a proper gentleman. Thank you all very much for the stay. Oh yes the Christmas tree looked splendid.

You must stay here Off the beaten track but well worth the drive on narrow roads. So peaceful, beautiful gardens, idyllic position. Very comfortable bed. Amazing food just wish we could have Stayed longer to enjoy the outdoor pool

No tea & coffee! Lovely hotel in beautiful setting. Some of the staff let the beautiful hotel down (surly receptionist on check out/ absent breakfast staff). Also there was no tea and coffee un the room (which would've been expected given the price). Food was good. Room service was good, although came with no condiments.

Very good. My two night stay was very comfortable in well refurbished old Hall, food was excellent and the staff helpful and friendly.

Outstanding remote hotel This place is absolutely amazing!! Booked here in December 2023 for a little celebratory winter break with my wife. Upon arrival the customer service was outstanding and we was allocated our room in one of the wings which was comfy, Spacious and charming. The food both for dinner and breakfast was simply fantastic and not overly priced. We can’t wait to return for longer to have a really good explore.
