STAY HERE!! Location / price / view / service / awesomeness!!! THE OWNER Lets start here! Tim, who is the owner and lives local is sensational and really makes the stay absolutely awesome!!! He has a yarn with all the guests at breakfast (which was included) and makes the effort to ask questions and get to know the guest :) wow - what a difference this makes to a stay! I never realised it until I met Tim - what I also loved was that you can tell he has REAL PRIDE in his business as he talks excitedly about the upgrades he is going through and this excitement for the business flows on to the staff that work for him who were all lovely, happy, friendly and helpful 1. I was upgraded upon checkin - my room was awesome! Top level great views! 2. I had a late checkout which was great as I had a late flight 3. Help with info on where to go and what to see - specifically Tim saying to come down and see him daily if I needed help on where to go 4. Shuttle service to airport help 5. Had an early check in at 12pm - Tim accomodated me as I had an early flight Tim even helped to organise the airport shuttle for me and called them up to secure a good price ๐ what service!! If only all owners took a page out of Tims book THE ROOM Wow! Loved it! Nice, clean with awesome views!! I was lucky to get upgraded and had top floor views over Launceston town and I couldnt wait to head back to the room after a day of exploring The bed was soooooooooooo comfortable and the BEST pillows ive ever experienced - I hope I can find 1 to buy for myself! So good! The showerโฆ hello! What great pressure and hot water is fantastic! Mini fridge and microwave with cutlery if you want to have your own meals (which I did) so was perfect for me and one of main reasons I chose this accom BREAKFAST Amazingggggg fresh fruit!!! Chopped fruit around 8 options - this was the best part for me! Also choices of cereals and juices Toast - white / brown / raisin with jams honey peanut butters Black Coffee You can also upgrade and pay for a hot breakfast If you need parking there is free on the property Lift is quick and easy to use Bags kept at reception safe and sound when needed I have nothing negative to say at all about this accom but they have set the bar high in customer service for me Thanks Tim! Lovely to meet you and thanks for the awesome stay ๐ will be recommending Balmoral on York to all I know

Very nice staff and it is clean and comfortable. Every time when we come back, we can feel very relaxed. Outside is cold but our place is warm and we can have very relaxing hot shower.
There is free internet and there are many T V channels and movies to see. I can keep in touch with my family overseas. Kids and I can enjoy movies together.
The location is very good. It is in the city and very convenient to take public transport or visit tourist information centre to join tours. There are lots of warehouses, department stores, shops, cafe or restaurants around. I recommend anyone to stay at Launceston Central Apartment Hotel.

This must be the only hotel in Australia that charges more to book direct than through a 3rd party. I stayed twice because of the location, once through Air BnB and once directly. The Air BnB offer seems to be a sublease through a guy who rarely responds to messages and the front desk don't deal with his bookings. I tried to extend my first visit but he wouldn't respond so I just left. The 2nd stay I thought may be better booking direct but they wanted to change me more $16 than online. They honoured booking.com's price when challenged but this seems very poor practise. The staff were kind and the room was clean but I wouldn't be bothered again.

While there was nothing seriously wrong with the place, there were many things not right. You would expect a 4 person room to have things like 4 sets of glasses or cutlery, but nope. The car parks were also filled with old junk (lounge suite, fridge etc.) and are a very tight fit, if someone doesn't park perfectly don't expect to get your car in. The rooms are very tired and dated. Our room had gaudy pink tiles in the bathroom with a shub rather than a proper shower. We used the laundry once, paid the $2 to use the washing machine which didn't complete its cycle and we returned to find clothes that hadn't been rinsed or spun. The many notes around the rooms made the whole place feel unfriendly - I get that extra costs have to be charged in some cases but a simple welcome book like most motels have that outline the rules is far nicer. Overall though the rooms were clean and the guests were quiet. If you're just looking for a place to stay this place is OK. It worked for us and I'd stay here again if it was just for a night or two.

The rooms are large, all of them are suites, there is the hotel's own restaurant downstairs, connected to the parking garage, a parking fee of $ 8 a day, the location is in the urban area, the city itself is not large, basically can be walked, it is recommended to stay

Love the Complimentary and Ample Parking Space The location of the hotel is about 10-15 mins walk to the main city centre, considered a good location and the City Park is just opposite the hotel. The hotel is divided into a few blocks, if you have big luggage, make sure you find out the block before you start lugging your luggage as the lift only serve the front building, not those at the back. The room is small compared to some other hotels with similar pricing. Seems some of the rooms have just been renovated and at the moment, the facade is covered by scarffolding and we missed the entrance to the carpark. Complimentary parking is a good gesture and this makes the stay convenient and pleasant without breaking a hole in your pocket.

Deluxe Rooms and Suites with balconies and views overlooking the Seaport marina or the historic town and mountains beyond.

There are many restaurants downstairs, and it's nice to go downstairs and walk along the river. There is a children's playground within a few minutes' walk.

Outstanding
GGuest UserHonestly the most incredible hotel experience in Tasmania. I would never dream of staying anywhere else. The luxury and the quality of the room and amenities are second to none. The most accomplished and welcoming hotel staff Iโve come across in Tasmania - thank you for making me feel special. My mother and I felt so welcome and honestly we wanted to extend our day. I loved where it was situated. A short 15min stroll to the town centre but quiet enough to enjoy the tranquility of Tasmania. The beautiful park areas and river views made it feel very intimate and more remote which is ideally what we wanted. Highly recommended. Honestly! Best Tasmanian hotel!!!
GGuest UserOur group stayed one night en route to Derby. We were all very happy with our rooms and had a comfortable night. The staff went out of their way to store the bike boxes for us to .pick up a week later when we left Launceston. We had the downstairs twin room which had a king and a single bed and was larger than the queen rooms. All rooms had views of the city, and refurbished bathrooms. Thanks to the staff at Areca for our enjoyable stay.
GGuest UserAt first we can't find the reception as the address they gave us was empty. Hv to call the guy to lead us there. The house is 200% fully equipped with all the nitty gritty thing you can't imagine, even a air fryer, band aid..... Clean new n modern. Great value for the price u paid.
GGuest UserThe most comfortable stay on our whole Tasmania trip. Everything was perfect, clean, super comfortable. Beautiful restaurants with great food at reasonable prices. Easy check in and check out. I highly recommend it!
GGuest UserAn iconic piece of Launceston history. A beautiful building containing beautiful furnishings throughout - particularly loved the wood furniture. Great location. A warm welcome from friendly, helpful Jude was the start to a most enjoyable stay. Spacious room with a very comfy bed. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. All good! Highly recommended.
Very minimal, shabby rooms of doubtful cleanliness, at maximal expense. Explicitly states that no service is offered, so to that extent at least the management is honest! But if you are staying two nights or more, you only get one night's worth of tea/coffee/milk/towels etc, even though you are paying for these items in the room charge. We had booked and paid for two rooms, but when I arrived the receptionist rudely said I could not check in 'because I did not have the same name as the person who booked', and I would jolly well have to wait until the person who booked arrived. (Actually, the person who booked was my daughter-in-law.) This is an extremely rude, discriminatory, and just plain stupid thing to say. For example, a husband and wife could have different names, and arrive separately. Also, I arrived at 3 pm, but what if my daughter-in-law arrived at 10 pm? The polite thing to do would be for the receptionist simply to ask if she could have a word with my daughter-in-law on the phone, or see a text message. Another point: the rudest, most aggressive utterance in the 'hospitality' industry is 'Can I help you?' spoken loudly through gritted teeth and rictus smile. The receptionist really ought to book a course at charm school. If - despite all - you are thinking of staying here, keep in mind that it is a very steep, long walk down to the city centre - and back up. The Coach House is not suitable for children, as the upper storey concrete walkways and steps are extremely dangerous for toddlers.
GGuest UserI would like to give the reception staff Lisa and Karen 10 out of 10 for wonderful service. I was trying to get a bed for one night and rang the hotel as I'd booked on what I thought was their website - I'd booked the wrong night and couldn't change it. Lisa was the lady I spoke to and she very kindly sorted it for me in such a lovely manner. Then when I arrived Karen was on reception and the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Personality plus, what an asset! The room was on the small side but comfortable, spotless and had a fabulous view of the city. It is also within walking distance of two theatres, bars and restaurants. A genuine pleasure to stay here, thank you ladies.
GGuest UserWe stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didnโt get a good nightโs sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didnโt get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.
BBarrAs a solo traveller just spending one night in Launceston, The Star Hotel was the ideal choice. It is centrally located and street parking was easy to find and free between 17.30 and 09.00 next day. The room itself was compact but comfortable with an ensuite. The friendly, efficient female staff member was able to help with local advice and when I decided to have dinner later, the food and service were exceptional. Three see a couple of stair cases to negotiate but really no trouble. This place was a highlight of my travel in Tasmania.
GGuest UserItโs is a beautiful hotel! Itโs clean and has a lot of comfort items to make you feel at home. Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. Environment was pleasant and welcoming. The staff was the nicest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They were always friendly and asked how our stay was going every time walked in the door.
