The Ambleside Inn - the Inn Collection Group

We went for lunch, the food was fantastic, we were warned that it might be a wait but didn’t take too long. Maria was amazing, really welcoming, positive and helpful! Lovely lunch with two dogs, who Maria made sure they had treats when our food turned up!

Lovely late lunch on Wednesday after a long walk. We had fish & chips and gammon. Freshly prepared and really tasty.

Not a good experience, food very average for the price, service slow and unfriendly, wouldn’t go again.

Had made reservation advising would have dogs with us and got nice table right at far side of restaurant which was great as it was really busy . There was a clear sign at door stating only serving residents and reservations. Only 1 member of staff on the bar so there was a queue but not too much of a wait. She was also advising there would be a delay with food so everyone was informed. Other member of staff also asking who had reservations , booked us in and notified us when table was ready. Food was excellent - cheese board outstanding , delay was not massive and we were not rushing. Only negative was the toilets which are quite a walk from the dining area. Quite a lot of water on the surfaces around the sinks ( female facilities ) , probably caused by water splashing over from shallow basins and both cubicles used had plastic handles missing of the slide part of the locks. Usual nice toiletries though.

Ordered a lemonade, didn’t taste right so waitress changed it, still tasted the same so went back to the bar. They were very dismissive, no refund offered only another of the same. Bad mannered and rude staff

Stayed here with a friend while doing a bit of walking in Lakes. Nice place, central location. Room was nice, slept well, good shower. Breakfast and dinner both good and some decent beer on tap. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Main drawback was parking - there is none attached to the hotel. There are some short-term bays outside the front door, which is fine for unloading but once that is done, you need to park in a large public car park which is a 3 minute walk away and applies charges 24 hours.

Booked direct with hotel. Very disappointed with the quality and cleanliness of the room we were given for our one night stay. Dust on top of skirting boards and head board black mould around window frame. Curtains badly fitted and due to the outside lighting at the rear of the building it was like daylight in the room hence got very little sleep. You could also hear rooms nearby extractor fans running, the taps running and the loos filling. On booking in and out of the hotel I was never once thanked for choosing to stay with the hotel or made to feel welcome. Would not recommend this hotel, for a premium price of £239.00 for one night's stay I was expecting a lot more than I got hence won't be returning to this hotel.

The Winter break package was Excellent value..The breakfast and evening meal where of a high quality and the room amazingly spacious. The staff were very helpful and accommodating..Will definitely be back.

Yet again, a fabulous trip to Ambleside and a wonderful stay at our favourite ’home from home’ establishment. This cozy hotel, with a great team of staff, never disappoints us. Care is taken with the smallest of details and this will not only keep us returning again and again, but also gives us the confidence to recommend this super hotel. The menu is extensive and has a superb selection of seasonal dishes, as well as a selection of delicious ’specials’.
