Placid Bay Hotel

Very conviniently located for a hike in the Adirondack's, just 20 minutes away from the Adironadack Loj. Very close to restaurants and shops in Lake Placid. Nice waterfront (Bay) setting. Our room (King room) was slightly tight for the furniture in it (I stubbed my toe on the chair between the bed and bathroom!) but we appreciated all the amenities :)

I prepaid months ago at $170 per night ++ Today I can book online at $109… I have been here many many times but not happy paying way over market… next time I will wait and do more research… my mistake…. Overall comfortable. Rooms upstairs a challenge to access with heavy luggage. Beware! Guests staying 4 nights or more should be downstairs. Soap container in the bathroom was almost empty and needed refill. The seating outside needed to be wiped. Large TV’s are nice. Beds comfortable. Lobby Ice machine works again which is nice. Thank god the dirty carpet was gone and replaced with floors (at least in my room). Trash cans too small. AC is still loud. Location is great, however new properties opened so I will shop for value…

This hotel is in a great location. It is right on the water and an easy walk from town. Our room was somewhat small but very clean . They have canoes and kayaks available for guests to use, which we took advantage of. There is no check in . A code is sent to your phone which makes things very simple. There is nobody staffing the lobby but it is accessible and contains a variety of things you may need for your stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the near future.

The hotel was really nice and cozy! They had smooth jazz playing on the Alexa when we got there, the pillows and beds were very comfortable, everything was clean. They had a lobby downstairs to access to get anything extra you might need like towels or an iron. The location was great and very walkable to the main ***** with shops and restaurants downtown to avoid the parking traffic on weekends. I would stay again!

Room was anything but clean. The bathroom was particularly bad......a hair clump around the shower drain and both sink and toilet had not been cleaned. The floor in the room had gritty sand the minute we walked in. I know they use sand for snow reasons but the floor should be clean when you first walk in....it was not.

We’ve been repeat customers for years of this motel. Always liked the location, the cleanliness and most of all the family in person attentiveness. On this trip, we were disappointed. No microwave, no hairdryer, carpets needed cleaning or replacement, and difficult to get a hold of anyone. Maybe this will be a wake up call to the owners? This place has a lot of potential. Just needs some loving care.

The room had such potential, but I have never seen such a dirty carpet before. Was down right gross! There were Keurig coffee pods but no Keurig machine to make a cup of coffee. Tried contacting management about the situation, but got no response. Bed was very comfortable, linens were great! The door was not secure, one hefty shove, and someone could easily break inside

Stayed for two nights in a king bed lake view room - comfy bed, clean bathroom, slightly run down carpet, but clean. Only complaint was hearing other guests at night outside or in their rooms due to thin walls and windows. Enjoyed the digital check in. Great place to stay on the lake.

- Keyless entry, you are emailed a link to the electronic key. We went to breakfast and our ‘key’ checked us out with our luggage still in the room. -There is no manager or owner on site. Tried several phone numbers on line and finally got a manager who was so defensive and rude. I tried to explain our issues and he said technology sometimes fails. He also did not care much about the bathroom issues below. Maybe he was having a bad day (as I was not being able to get into my room). He said that I ‘clearly wanted something and what did I want’. Being business owners ourselves, we try to inform another business Owner of shortfalls, but the attitude is what caused me to write this review. It wasn’t about refunding me 50%, it was making them aware. While trying to explain my frustrations the owner would just over talk me. -They certainly did not appreciate my business. -So be prepared there is no one on site to help you except whenever housekeeping shows up. -We had to walk around to find housekeeping who let us into our room without even verifying it was actually our room. Now onto the room. -Poor maintenance in the room. Toilet seat was so loose it was sliding off the toilet. -Bolts were so loose we could hand tighten them which helped tighten the seat a little. If housekeeping was appropriately cleaning there is no way they could have missed this. -Toilet was leaking a lot of water out of the bottom. Had to use our towels to mop it up as well as the bath mat. -while they did have a Kuerig in the room, the K cups were decaf. -FYI, could hear the guests on both sides of our room. -The pool looked nice, it was right on the lake, looks like they had kayaks and canoes.
