The rooms are very elegant, and the hotel building itself is nearly 200 years old. The owner's English is very good, and the front desk's English is limited but very warm and polite. The toilet and bathroom are shared but very clean, and there are two bathrooms for bathing. It is close to commercial areas such as Shijo Kawara.

Fantastic stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan. If you want to have the experience, choose this hotel. The rooms are a dream, the courtyard garden is simply wonderful. There is also a small corner for smokers on the premises, so no wandering around. The whole hotel, including the private bathroom, which you get half an hour per person per day, was impressive. But the staff is also amazing, super friendly, super accommodating, all in all an incredible service. All the pictures online here cannot even begin to reflect the magic that surrounds this place.
I had the Japanese deluxe room with a garden view and can recommend it to anyone who wants to feel old Japan, or is simply an anime & manga fan and wants to live like the protagonists from our favorite series.

Incredible experience, very beautiful and authentic, I recommend choosing 1 spring bath, it is older but more comfortable. The hostess made our stay as comfortable and interesting as possible, we also took a traditional Japanese breakfast, which is not for everybody, but we liked it) The ryokan has everything you need and the staff can help and advise)

It was a fantastic cultural experience. We felt like guests being invited into someone's home rather than a regular hotel guest. We stayed in the room with the garden which definitely seemed to be the correct choice, the beds were very comfortable and the traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent! Definitely would reckon this experience!

Such an amazing experience in Kyoto!
If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese experience you must stay in a Ryokan! The staff were PERFECT. I can’t think of any hotel staff who have ever been so nice and helpful.
Something to note:
There’s a curfew at 11 or 12 I think, this is not the kind of place to plan on going out. Think of staying at your grandmas house, her rules.

The room is amazing. I like the Japanese style very much. When I checked in, the staff enthusiastically introduced the structure and usage of the entire house. The rooms are exquisite and beautiful and the facilities on the entire two floors. There are many foreigners staying here. Although The house is more than 100 years old and seems to be well maintained. The bathroom is very comfortable and the bathtub is very special and comfortable! The matcha 🍵 and wagashi provided upon check-in are delicious😋, and the homemade Japanese breakfast is also quite good. I’ll try it again next time I go to Kyoto.
