The moment we arrived at michamvi sunset bay resort we knew that we would have great and relaxing time there. It is a beautiful place and the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the trip and made us feel at home.
The room was very clean and comfortable and offered a nice view of the garden/pool area and the bay. The beach in front of the hotel was cleaned every morning (like the rest of the hotel).
Due to a celiacs disease my wife needs a strictly glutenfree diet, and the kitchen crew at the hotel went all-in in providing safe and delicious options. They cooked the glutenfree food seperately from the rest, tried new recipies for bread, and the carrot-cake was perfect as well.
We definetely recommend michamvi sunset bay resort and will come back the next time we come to zansibar.

Du føler deg ivaretatt og at personalet oppriktig bryr seg om deg. Maten var god og selve plassen er svært vakker. Anbefales på det sterkeste.

Absolut fantastic small and very lokal hotel. The service is outstanding. Good food, top cleaning, and very nice and polite manager end hotelteam. Absolut relaxing and far from disturbing issues, so you have to accept transportation for speciel expierences.

Everything is absolut fantastic. The rooms, the food and the personel. The only thing which isnt about the hotel, is the tidewater and you have to spend a lot of dollars if you want to see something because the hotel is far from everything. We came to relax and had a really Great time

Hôtel très très beau avec une équipe incroyablement accueillante et chaleureuse que se soit le personnel de cuisine ou l’équipe d’animation (Grosse pensée à Suleiman et Abdul qui ont été merveilleux). Chambre assez conviviale et beau. Un hôtel idéal pour une lune de miel. Une equipe devenue une famille ❤️

7 ans après notre premier séjour, nous avions envie de revenir à Michamvi ! Cet hôtel reste fantastique : accueil et personnel exceptionnels, repas de haut niveau, hôtel propre et bien entretenu. Je mettrais juste un petit bémol sur le petit déjeuner, peu varié et qui tranche un peu de la qualité des autres repas. C’est l’endroit rêvé pour passer du temps à Zanzibar, dans un endroit tranquille et loin des gros complexes hôteliers… pour l’instant en tout cas car des constructions sont en cours à côté et j’ai peur que cet hôtel perde sa tranquillité !

Nous sommes retournés 6 ans après dans cet hôtel et nous ne le regrettons pas . Cet hôtel est merveilleux pour plusieurs points : l accueil, la sympathie des employés, la tranquillité du lieu … sans vous parler des repas du midi et du soir, un vrai régal !!! Le seul bémol est le petit déjeuner qui n est pas terrible mais la vue nous fait tout oublier…

Heaven on Earth! We just left after out second visit and this place is absolutely magical. It is very small, but it still feels like you have many options to choose from. From hanging out in the magical beach bar to lying by the beautiful pool or exploring the water on the paddle boards. Each night a new location is chosen for dinner and this really helps create variety and make each experience unique. There is the most magical sunset every night that we never get tired off. But what we love the most is the people. Huge thank you to Shirley for always making us safe and happy, and to the whole staff. We will definitely be back again!

Michamvi is beautiful and a great option for those spending time in Zanzibar. It's cut off and not a commercial part of the island. Sunset Bay is located on a beautiful stretch of the beach but we were left wanting for more with the experience. It's a small family run property but there are just too many rules that I would not expect while on holiday. No room service. Fixed dinner menu with no flexibility. Rigid timings. They would not even serve starters at the bar. You have to walk over to the restaurant. Shower did not work properly. AC did not work for our 4 day stay despite multiple follow ups. Very high currency conversion rates while signing off the final bill compared to rates we got in other parts of the island. Properties coming up on either side of this place. Location is great. Might be better options to look at.
