Paradise Resort
3.8/557 Reviews
Me and a colleague booked this resort for a 1 night stay on 18th September through MMT as part of a business meeting with a client based out of Kottayam. We were traveling from Bangalore and reached the resort at 12pm as per the check in time stated in the booking confirmation, but from reception it was told that they've recently changed the check in time to 2pm however it wasn'tcommunicated to us. After talking and waiting for about half an hour they've alloted the room. Below are our specific experience at Paradise Resort, Kumarakom: 1. Food options in the menu weren't available. Said that there is a party going on for another group, so cheff is busy with that and only limited items are available for other guests. 2. We were having a beer sitting at the varantha of our cottage. Then a staff came, said that he's the GM of the resort and told us there is a police officer and group of friends staying in the resort (two cottage after ours), so we cannot have beer in our cottage's varantha. But this group of people were enjoying drinks in front of their cottage and walking around the property with liquor. So we had a little bit of argument, and our point was ”the rule within the resort should be same for all guests.” The GM wasn't ready to accept that and behaved us in an unprofessional tone. He was often saying he's the GM, also said that they've contact with politicians, police and local leaders, so if you doesn't want to stay then you should leave. It was clear threatening and an unacceptable way of communication from a person who should be treating all customers equally. 3. Finally we complained at MMT and vacated the resort 2 hours after check-in. Even when we were leaving, the way staff and GM communicated was inappropriate. 4. After vacating, we've booked Abad Whispering Palms (a nearby resort) and stayed there overnight. It was an amazing experience at Abad and from all staffs. 5. Overall, Paradise Resort management should give some sort of hospitality training to their staffs. I believe some of the reviews they've on google or other booking platforms are paid reviews. At present this resort doesn't even qualify for a 1 star rating.
The Zuri Kumarakom Kerala Resort & Spa

This place clearly is past its prime from the looks of it. Our Deluxe Lagoon view room is past its ‘best by’ date. The furniture is fraying, the mirror has big stains, the room had a stink when we checked in, the aircon works only at one setting - 19 degrees. The woodwork has been shoddily repaired, the glass door has turned yellow with grime. The maintenance and upkeep of the property evidently de***ds serious attention. Sadly, when I attempted to show some pictures of the room to the ***agement, it barely caused any concern. I was informed that the extended Covid lockdown - and the tropical climate and moist air, has taken a huge toll on the property. In other words, we really can’t do much! However, supposedly a revamp of the property is underway - doesn’t help us though. While the explanation maybe valid, the nonchalant response was galling and totally unexpected. And any way, why shouldn’t we, as paying guests, expect better? At breakfast this morning, the papaya was un-ripened, the pineapple was overripe and discoloured. And the best. - they couldn’t find decent, fresh and ripe local bananas to serve! At lunch, the Thai green curry was spicy - so spicy and none of us four could eat more than one spoon. We refused to eat it and asked them to take it back. Yet amazingly, it appeared on our bill - no apologies offered. Naturally, we refused to pay for the dish. Quite eventful first 24 hours.
Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa Kerala

A short trip from Munnar brought us to Kumarakom. Having stayed in a few properties in the past, the expectations were set high! The stay was good, some great spots of enjoyment, some definitive spots for betterment and some sore episodes (nothing to do with Taj ethos). I felt the reception is small and non-noticeable and so was the usual warmth on arrival. That was soon forgotten when Gayatri brought on Priya to the fore. She did explain the shortcomings that come alongwith a govt owned property being leased by Taj. The restaurant was great and the high tea is quite refreshing. Our group of six adults, have great tastebuds sans anything that borders above LESS SPICEY… Great challenge for the team, till Subin Meccheri, hand crafted the best items of our stay - Ulli theeyal and Cabbage Thoran.. Out of the world and dot on “ Low spice”. Heaven on earth! Vin Pugal, a known face of our 2022-stay at Kovalam made our last day stay comfortable and allowed us to overstay for a couple more hours . Exit of one of our team leaving early on the last day to catch his flight to San Francisco had to literally witness and be a mute spectator to the Union-activism that compelled him to use the local cab to Airport, priced 50% more than the app-operators… a lesson learnt, though not a reflection of the nice stay in Taj. Having stayed in Taj resorts at Kovalam, Madikeri, Goa, Maldives, I feel Taj Kumarakom has many spots to betterment, especially house keeping, room service and the general upkeep.

i recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort, and it was an incredibly relaxing experience. the ambience inside the property is truly pleasing and serene, with a nature-friendly vibe that immediately puts you at ease. the rooms were well-maintained, spacious, and provided a perfect balance of comfort and style. one of the highlights of the resort is definitely the pool—it’s stunning and adds so much to the overall experience. if you’re visiting, i highly recommend opting for the pool-view villas; they offer an unbeatable view and atmosphere. the food was delicious, with a wide variety of options, although slightly on the pricey side. that said, the quality more than made up for it. lastly, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. overall, a wonderful place for a peaceful getaway!
Kumarakom Lake Resort

The scenery surrounding Kumarakom Lake Resort is absolutely breathtaking—it felt like stepping into paradise. As a five-star resort, it fully immerses you in the serene beauty of Kerala’s backwaters. The views were unmatched, creating a truly magical ambiance throughout our stay. One of the highlights of our trip was the overnight houseboat experience, which was impeccably arranged. The houseboat was incredibly clean, luxurious, and staffed by a team that provided exceptional service, waiting on us hand and foot. In fact, some parts of the houseboat experience felt even more luxurious than the resort itself. It was a magical and unforgettable experience that I cannot recommend enough. The resort itself was very well-managed, with outstanding service from every staff member. The infinity pool, as well as the private pool outside our bedroom, were both stunning and perfectly maintained. These spaces provided the ideal setting for relaxation. The Ayurvedic spa was another highlight. The therapists were attentive and went above and beyond to address our needs, delivering some of the best massages I’ve ever experienced. While the overall hospitality and experience were unmatched, the only reason I would give this 4.5 stars instead of 5 is the price point. Everything—from the room rates to alcohol and spa services—was exceptionally expensive, even for a luxury resort in this region. Despite the high costs, we left feeling it was money well spent, and I would absolutely recommend Kumarakom Lake Resort to anyone seeking a truly luxurious and serene getaway
Coconut Lagoon Kumarakom- a CGH Earth Experience
4.6/547 Reviews
Traveled to Kerala and stayed at many excellent South India accommodations and the friendly local people we met ***** the way. By far the best was the Coconut Lagoon resort. The individual bungalows with their outdoor showers/bathrooms were amazing, and many activities that were very informative and engaging plus excellent Ayurvedic massage treatments, especially by AGeeta and Shifa. It is a testament to this Eco Lodge that their employees want to be hired there and stay for many years. Our very favorite was the E bike off the track and naturalist.Pra Teesh who has encyclopedic knowledge of the flora and fauna in the area and who is very well respected by the local villagers who allowed us foreign tourists to enter their homes, observe their toddy coconut flour, tap something, and even to taste the unfermented toddy! We were initially unsure if three days would be too long to stay at a quiet resort, but there was so much to do and see an experience that it was one of the top highlights of our trip to South India .
