The room itself was ok, it was clean albeit a little bit small, and a little spot here and there but nothing to be worried about. everything was enough. Towels are provided, soap and shampoo also even though they are small, just enough for taking bath 2 to 3 times. If it is not enough, can request for it. There is an iron room. There is also a parking lot at the basement. I think maybe I should give 4 stars out of 5.

We spent two nights here on business and I must say that everything was excellent. The location of the hotel is quite close to my destination as well as some other business centers in the city. As for the room, even though being small, but it is excellent and surprisingly comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others having a business trip. However, this hotel might not suit those enjoying a family trip due to its limited room space

I was assigned a room at 4th floor. Since its at lower level of its 15 storey, I requested a room facing not facing the noisy main street. Good choice: view of a football filed, a mosque and part of the city. The room: The Hotel management probably believe that 1980s heyday decor is a selling point. Save for the flat screen telly, the rest still preserves its 80s setting: louvred wardrobe, bedside cabinet central console with rocker switches, blanket on top of sheets (not quilt), tiled (not marbled) bathroom floor, queen (not king) bed. They try to keep the cleanliness but the permanent stains on chairs, moulds around aircond vent, peeling furniture paint, mildew on bathroom wall are beyond the housekeeping department’s routine; the whole place needs serious makeover.

The Location of the Hotel is Super Convenient. Walking Distance to Kuantan 188 Tower, Art Streets and Night Markets. However, surrounding a bit run down but have lots of Parking.
Cleaniness of the Hotel need more improvement and Renovation is Needed. Sound Proof for the Room is pretty bad. All items in Hotel Room is Old but still usable. Luckily Two Night was calm and peace, we sleep very well. Services is Good and have lots of Parking Behind Hotel. Suitable for Business Trip. Overall its still a Nice Stay. Not too bad.

Vistana Hotel overhauled, a very decent upgrade with the Marriott label. Clean, comfy, with many of the basic amenities provided, as well as a gym and swimming pool. Free flower black coffee and tea from morning till 10pm.

I really really loved the ambience of the hotel and the view of my hotel. It could be a little hot as the lobby and the hall did not have air-conditioning but the room and the view were definitely worth every penny.
The room was really cozy and comfy with the studio apartment setup. The breakfast was so so because I was hoping for some local cuisines but couldn’t find any.
It was quite far away from town area and nothing much around the vicinity but I still think it’s worth it with the views.

Had a great overall experience. The service provided by the staff was excellent; they were attentive, friendly, and responsive to our needs throughout our stay. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth, with a helpful video shared by the operator that made everything straightforward for those who can follow instructions well. However, it might be challenging for those who prefer not to read detailed instructions.
One of the major highlights was the hotel's location, which is conveniently close to various attraction spots. My unit had a beautiful view facing the sunrise area, adding a special touch to the stay, although I regretfully missed the opportunity to catch the sunrise moment.
The unit itself was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment. However, the small room, which I believe was a storeroom, was only equipped with a fan and became quite hot, making it uncomfortable for anyone to sleep in unless the door was left open.
In summary, my stay was enjoyable thanks to the excellent service, prime location, and cleanliness of the unit. With some improvements to the small room's ventilation, the hotel could offer an even better experience for its guests.

Just had a fantastic stay at Adena Beach Resort in Kuantan! 🌴 The resort offers a perfect blend of relaxation and luxury with its beautiful beachfront location. The rooms were spacious, clean, and offered stunning views of the South China Sea. 🏖️ The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our stay was comfortable. The highlight was definitely the direct access to the beach, where we enjoyed long walks and serene sunsets. Great for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation if you’re looking to unwind by the sea.

BBrandonHad a wonderful stay. Though, the hotel is a bit old its quite well maintained. The beach, right outside our doorstep, easily accessible, extremely clean but dont expect crystal clear waters. Other than that, id definitely suggest a makeover of the rooms.
GGuest UserDuring our stay at the villa, we thoroughly enjoyed the private pool and semi-outdoor bath tub. The room was impressive, with a spacious and comfortable bed. The bathroom, connected to the outdoor platform, was stunning, and the hot, steaming bath water was a highlight. The branded toiletries, including the additional body lotion, were a great touch, especially after swimming.
Highlights of our stay included the private pool, the complimentary high teas, and the option to have breakfast served in the restaurant or in-room. The resort also offered amenities such as complimentary buggy rides, bike rentals, and various free games. Exploring the vast resort, with its nature sounds and relaxing atmosphere, was a memorable experience. Additionally, the dinner and bar were worth visiting and offered affordable options.
However, the air conditioning in the room was not effective at night, and some of the bikes provided were not in the best condition. The steep slopes in the resort also posed a challenge, as I had a biking accident due to my own excitement and adrenaline rush. It's important to be cautious when using the bikes.
For other dining and leisure options, Gambang offers local Chinese eateries, and Kuantan town, just an hour's drive away, provides modern cafes, shopping opportunities, and beach access.
AAnonymous UserI'm on business trips, bought my small family along. All are in tip top conditions. Loves everything, second time staying at this place. Don't worry about food, all is near, walking distanxe. Beach are perfect! Best staying on july so they'll be less jellyfish swimming with u at the beach. :)
GGuest UserI spent 3 days 2 nights here with my family for vacation. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality that made us feel right at home. The process, from unloading our luggage to checking in at the reception, was smooth and efficient. The porter and reception staff were polite and beaming with smiles.
We stayed in a studio room, as we needed more space for our active child to move around. The room was in tip top condition—spacious, newly renovated with chic design, and maintained at the highest level of cleanliness. I would say, what you see on Trip is exactly what you get!
I want to give special recognition to the Swiss Care team, especially a sweet and polite lady named Sihma (Swiss Care #1), who promptly and efficiently responded to all of our calls. She went the extra mile to ensure all our reasonable requests were met.
The swimming pool attendants were diligent in their duties, ensuring the safety of all swimmers. Syed Lukman is one of them.
The breakfast provided was consistently replenished to accommodate all diners. I especially enjoyed the nasi lemak on the second day—the meat was tender, perfectly spiced, and juicy. Kudos to the chefs and café staff for their excellent skills! I also noticed that a few middle-aged Malaysian aunties were employed as part-time workers in the café during the busy weekend. Despite their age, they worked efficiently and professionally. I think this is a commendable practice, providing job opportunities while boosting the local economy.
The lobby and main facilities were a bit run-down, but I didn’t mind since they are currently undergoing upgrades, which are expected to be completed by next year. I’m excited to return when the renovations are finished!
My wife and I stayed here in October for an overnight staycation. For the high price paid, we expected much better. After all, the price is equivalent to a 5-star hotel in KL. The villas look quaint from the outside, but inside they are EXTREMELY dated - The decor is straight out of the early 80's, before my wife was even born ! The bathrooms are in a state of disrepair. You can't take a shower without the water backing up through the toilet and making loud glugging noises. The water took forever to drain from the sink, presumably clogged with decades of hair. Several lights in the room were not functioning and the safe box was totally broken. The only modern thing in our room - a large flat screen TV, is connected to an old-style Astro satellite box with only a few channels subscribed. Unfortunately the 'traditional' wooden sofa was as hard as a board, so uncomfortable to watch TV for long. The bed - set up as a mock four-poster - was fairly comfortable, mattress a bit too hard for my tastes; but we slept well, particularly with no outside noise. Luckily, the aircon was working very well . A kettle is provided, and there is a refrigerator in the room which (eventually) keeps drinks cold. Take note that only two small bottles of water are provided. Also provided are some sachets of no-name coffee, and tiny bottles of no-name shampoo/shower gel (it appears to be the same stuff inside each!); So make sure to bring your own. The small pool was adequate, dark, and actually resembled a fish/turtle pond rather than a plunge pool. The main pool of the hotel is a different story: It appears to have been recently modernised and is wonderful. Better still, we stayed mid-week so there were no noisy local families & kids. We had it pretty much to ourselves. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. A very limited selection compared with Holiday Villa Langkawi where we have stayed many times previously. Went for dinner in the restaurant, and our first choice for meals and drinks were 'finished already'. The satay was terrible, and the milkshakes were straight out of a bottle. I really hope that HV now spend some money to modernise these overpriced villa rooms, and improve their F&B offerings. Won't hurry back until they do.
GGuest UserLocation is very strategic. Right on Jalan Besar where all the nice cafe is. (Kula Cake, Kuantan Pickers, Tjantek, Kopi & Teh, Akar Kopi, Lena Cafe, Sup Ayam Kampung) to name a few. River Esplanade is just right behind the hotel. Our room is facing the river, upon request. To my suprise for the price, the hotel is very clean. Tv has many channel including sport. A mini fridge & sejadah. I bet the hotel is recently refurbish as it has a nice new paint coating & flooring. And so does the bathroom. They even offer connecting room, which is good if you are travelling in group & to my suprise they have lift. Parking is easy & plenty, but by the counsil. So we paid around RM4.50 daily or RM0.65 per hour. Overall, if you are in Kuantan for Jalan Jalan Cari Makan. I truly recommend this hotel.
EEmmaTravelsNestled amidst the bustling city of Kuantan, Grand Darul Makmur Hotel offers a serene retreat for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. From the moment you step into the elegant lobby, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a sense of tranquility that sets the tone for your stay.
The hotel's location is strategic, situated close to key attractions and business centers, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers. Upon arrival, I found the check-in process to be efficient, with the staff displaying professionalism and courtesy.
The rooms at Grand Darul Makmur Hotel are spacious, well-appointed, and meticulously clean. I stayed in a deluxe room with modern amenities such as a comfortable bed, flat-screen TV, and a well-stocked minibar. The panoramic views from the room were breathtaking, offering a glimpse of the city skyline or the lush greenery surrounding the hotel.
One of the highlights of my stay was the dining experience at the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast buffet offered a wide array of delicious options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. Whether you prefer local Malaysian cuisine or international dishes, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The attentive staff made sure that every guest's dining needs were met, adding to the overall dining pleasure.
The hotel's facilities are impressive, including a fully-equipped fitness center and a refreshing swimming pool. After a long day of exploring the city, I found solace in unwinding by the poolside, soaking in the serene ambiance and indulging in some well-deserved relaxation.
Furthermore, the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and safety measures is commendable, especially in light of current global circumstances. I felt reassured knowing that stringent hygiene protocols were in place throughout the property.
Overall, my experience at Grand Darul Makmur Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the impeccable service to the comfortable accommodations and excellent dining options, every aspect of my stay exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kuantan, and I look forward to returning in the future.
GGuest UserFirstly, I have to say, The Kasturi is probably my favourite place in Pahang. I first came here in 2018 - and it made such an impression that I couldn't wait to come back. Came back as soon as PKP was lifted (review here somewhere) and a tad disappointed. Husband booked a night's stay for our 18th wedding anniversary and I have to admit the service has improved by leaps and bounds. Check in was warm and professional - villa is clean and hubby had made arrangements for flowers and some refreshments in the room which was so appreciated by yours truly. Had same villa as previous stay - toilet is still wonky. Hand bidet in indoor shower compartment is still non functional and the fish keropok was left untouched this time (learnt my lesson from last time - pls get new supplier - I am sure there are many more keropok makers who can make better keropok sira) This time however, husband ordered food to be sent to the room - FYI, room service is limited to the asian food selection (not advisable to preorder western dishes as these will end up cold by the time it gets sent to the room) Loved the caprese salad and the fried rice. The seafood fried in batter was above average. The white rice and chicken was too sweet for our liking. Breakfast was served 'unlimited ala carte style' The variety was ok - choice of nasi lemak, western and chinese congee. Nasi lemak - much much better than the last time I was there - but had an issue with the sambal sotong, which I informed the staff. Saw that they offered 'DANISH' as part of breakfast - but we only received toast and baguettes - so I'm not sure if I was confused about the danish being pastries? Barista also needs to learn to make proper latte art. However, the F&B staff - Deedi was extremely friendly and warm. He looked like he knew what he was doing despite being his 6th day at Kasturi - thought I would make a special mention about him. Would I come back for a fourth time? Some improvements have to be made about the upkeep of the facilities in the room and definitely better improvements with the F&B - but Kasturi's one life-saving feature is definitely its location....
BBeckyyylThe price of the room was reasonable given that it was during a Malaysian festive season as well as a long weekend break. Our room (suite) comes with a smaller room with an attached bathroom which is convenient for the four of us. Both rooms are equipped with standard amenities which is a plus point. The location of the hotel was tucked behind the main road so there was minimal noise level from the streets. The check-in and check-out process was hassle-free. In a nutshell, this hotel is well priced for a short stay in Kuantan.
JJamietanllPools and most facilities were closed when we arrived (late) and got up early. Access to beach is very convenient and open in the morning. Room is spacious as we were upgraded to Deluxe Room due to availability. Building structure is quite old and needs better maintenance. Towels need to be replaced. However it was still considered well kept. Staff are friendly and can speak good English.
