Facebook page advertises a "Pensioners treat lunch" every Tuesday. We looked forward to a lovely carvery lunch with 2 roast meats, veggies, rice and potatoes. Regrettably the offering we received was worse than a boarding school lunch. Food completely ran out.... no meat ....only some washed out spinach, over cooked rice and potatoes left. The kitchen tried to rustle up something for those who didn't get any food at all. (Those who did get some of the carvery , well the food could have fitted on a small plate. There was only one meat (not two as promised), which was 2 very thin slices of a very fatty gammon). Eventually, those who didn't get any of the "carvery" were served with a piece of schnitzel, half a potato and some rice. A most unappetizing plate to say the least. When management was approached , he got very angry and aggressive. Reluctantly offered to make some more food ...by which time , it was already time to leave. He did offer a free icecream and chocolates sauce to those who were still hungry. Some guests accepted the offer of the icecream. A bowl arrived with two small scoops and a measly drizzle of chocolate sauce. DEFINITELY NOT A TREAT ! NOT VALUE FOR MONEY EITHER ! I overheard a guest from another table say " die kos is doodgooi ...ek kan dit nie eet nie!" Sadly , I have to agree with him ... but I was someone's guest, and I didn't want to embarrass her, so I reluctantly ate. A must mention is a very sweet young waitress (clearly untrained ) but trying her best. The manager could learn from her attitude. Please don't treat pensioners like this !!
