Mara Intrepids Tented Camp

Mara Intrepids is the very definition of glamping! It was marvelous! The service was excellent and the accommodations were very comfortable. The food was great and the safari drives were breathtaking. Thanks to all who served us. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Intrepids was fantastic and Reuben Ntuala, our guide, was amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable with the animals and where to find them but also has a great sense of humor. He made it so fun. This is the 2nd time we’ve been to Intrepids and both visits have been outstanding. The accommodations are truly 5 star, the food is great, the people there are all very friendly, and the service was fantastic from all employees. I highly recommend Mara intrepids.

We absolutely loved our stay at Mara Intrepids. The accommodation was excellent. Think comfortable, firm mattresses, fluffy pillows and cushions, soft sheets, warm showers... The staff provided hot water bags each night—such a treat to fall asleep cradling them. We slept well AND we ate so well. The vegetarian options were so many, and they were all delicious. The kitchen staff served lovely desserts each day for lunch and dinner. All the staff members were warm, friendly and respectful including Joab, our knowledgeable safari guide, who answered all questions patiently with enthusiasm. He was a treasure trove of information about the land, wildlife, vegetation, etc. I'd happily recommend Mara Intrepids to anyone who wants to visit Masai Mara.

Our Guide, Dominic, was a master at locating the many animals we wanted to see. His positioning always allowed us to take great photos. He made this trip very special! Camp and staff was great. I recommend this, you will be happy and fulfilled with great animal viewing, well cared for by staff and well fed by the chefs and kitchen crew. Enjoy.

This is such an incredible place and is a great way to see the Mara and all the animals. Moses was our Safari guide and he was excellent. The camp itself is very clean, nice, and well maintained. We were disappointed we could not do a sundowner due to bad weather on the last day. They had one on the first day but I wasn't offered to join it upon check in. Not sure why. The only things I were not crazy about is we were paired up with an Indian couple who were late multiple times to our drives which affected our day, and kind of made decisions for us that we didn't really want to do. So we kind of felt we were put on vacation with these people and that was not ideal. Also for some reason our landrover was older, less comfortable, and more outdated than others at the hotel and from other hotels we saw driving around. The food is OK, they do "try" and the service is slow but good and friendly. Wine by the glass was subpar house wine, they do sell bottles which were better but marked up quite a bit for what they were. The biggest thing we were unhappy with was the unwelcome surprise upon check in that there is a park fee of $200 per person per night. We had no idea of this, was never mentioned in any of my communication or upon reserving with ******* and was on the hotel website. So that was a $1,200 unexpected bill upon check in. Everyone should made very clear that the high $1100 per night rate DOES NOT INCLUDE THIS. They also charged for bottled water which I thought was petty. My recommendation would be to include that, as well as beer & wine and also the park fee with the rate, to really be "all inclusive". The trip to the Masai village is something everyone should do. it was incredible. The game drives of course are the highlights and we saw every animal out there, and there are plenty to see. Overall a fabulous experience but I might consider somewhere else first if coming back to Masai Mara due to these different things.

Luxury camping with lovely grounds, incredible food and friendly staff who go out of their way to help you have an enjoyable experience and to answer your questions. On days that include early-morning game drives or hot-air balloon rides, housekeeping provides an old-fashioned wake-up call by hand delivering hot tea or coffee along with cookies and chocolate croissants to your tent to make waking up so early a much more pleasurable experience. Simon was our guide, and he was knowledgeable and full of information about the animals, their behaviors and their habitats. He also went out of his way to provide the best viewing spot for photographing wild life.

My husband, three adult children and I had a fabulous experience at Mara Intrepids. The camp was lovely and well kept. The tents were very comfortable and clean. Waking to a gentle “good morning” from a staff member holding a tray of hot coffee and cookies was a very pleasant way to start the morning. The new infinity pool was beautiful and relaxing. Our waitress Matrine was kind, friendly and efficient and the food was very good! Overall the service at the camp was excellent. Kenyans are all so friendly!! We had amazing game drives seeing all the big five as well as a magical array of other wildlife. We finished the trip with a dreamy hot air balloon safari which I would highly recommend. Trip of a lifetime! Highly recommend Mara Intrepids!
