"This was my first experience of an Ayurveda Centre anywhere in the world. As someone who is well travelled and advises others on their travel, I would highly recommend The Somatheeram Ayurveda Village. The rooms are not 5 star Western standard, but they are comfortable and have everything you need. The Ayurveda treatments you receive everyday are incredible. The care, the consideration and the medical supervision is all adapted to your needs and not set in stone, which for me was essential. The food was plentiful, freshly cooked and delicious. Every single staff member from the reception team, restaurant, to the gardeners were happy, smiley and willing to do everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible. There is daily yoga, meditation and swimming. The private beach is safe, the usual trades people but friendly! It is possible to go out on short trips to the Backwaters and also a fabulous village /school trip with Coastal Brains that I would also recommend. I organised these myself not through the hotel. The flexibility of being able to experience all three properties within the group, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as any activities (apart from your treatments) is also a huge bonus. If you are considering an Ayurveda experience, even though it was my first experience and I do not have another centre to compare it with, I would not hesitate to recommend The Somatheeram Ayurveda Village, I wish I had booked 3 weeks and not just 2!!"

"From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. I truly loved everything about this place. The doctors and therapists are not only highly professional but also incredibly kind and attentive. The manager, as well as the dining room and housekeeping staff, were always friendly and welcoming, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The yoga teacher was amazing, and the accommodations were fantastic—comfortable, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. The entire resort is so stunning that it felt like living in a fairy tale. I stayed for three weeks, and honestly, I could have easily stayed three more. During my time there, my back pain significantly improved, my metabolism feels much better, and I even managed to lose 5 kg. It was truly a wonderful and rejuvenating experience, and I’m very grateful for the care and warmth I received during my stay."

"Booked at ideal but placed in Gods own country resort across the road. This wasnt an issue as we just walked across for breakfast. Varied ndian buffet as much as you want, fresh fruit and drinks,toast, eggs of every variation on offer. Friendly and attentive staff. Hotel lovely setting. Room rather dated and could definitely do with a spruce up but roomy and clean. Had to ask for room to be cleaned a couple of times. Fridge in room. A/C and fan. No kettle but quickly supplied one on request. We do like our early mornng cuppa! Lovely pool. Clean and quiet no issue with sunbeds. We did not have any treatments.. This is a vegetarian non alcoholic hotel so you will have to go to lighthouse or Kovalam beach for either. Shops and one restaurant local again no alcohol. As long as not too obvious alcohol can be purchased and brought back to rooms. Restaurant will sell to you at beaches. Also be aware cannot use uber and have to use the local drivrs from hotel and from the beaches. We had to use hotel car to take us to the airport but not expensive 13000 inr. Otherwise no issue. Use Uber where you can as a lot cheaper. Overall good value for money. Enjoy."
