"It was my first time staying in an all-inclusive hotel. The hotel was modern and well decorated. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The restaurant was open at almost any time and there were basically no restrictions. The kids loved the water slide. Although it was not big, there were not many people and they could enjoy it. Unfortunately, the temperature was relatively low in early May and there was a strong wind. Although the outdoor swimming pool was beautiful, it was not very swimmable."

"This recently renovated hotel certainly looks the part. Big open car park leading into a beautiful lobby area. George greeted us on reception and was an absolute pleasure, showing us to our room. The rooms looked exactly like what was advertised and initially we seen no issues. The restaurant and pool area are also very well kept. It wasn't too busy when we were there but it was right at the start of the main season so may be more difficult to get seats later in the year but we never had an issue getting a table or sun loungers for the entire stay. The food was perfectly fine, large room with plenty of choice, the only downside was that it was mostly the same food each day, some things were different but it was a small downside. The hot plate area where the chef was cooking always had omelettes at breakfast and souvlaki, chips, and bread on evenings for example, possibly could change things up here? We've stayed at other locations where they've had omelettes, pancakes and various other things on mornings. Food for thought. The location of the hotel is in quite a quiet area, too. There is a few things dotted about but you're talking about a 30 minute walk realistically to find any more built-up areas, no doubt the perfect location if you rent a car, especially with the on-site car park. The only real negatives though were the shower and the dogs next door. Admittedly, the hotel can take zero blame for the dogs, but if you're staying to the East of reception, the residential property next door leaves their dogs (at least 5) outside 24 hours per day and they bark throughout the night, I would certainly advise getting earplugs. The other issue was our shower was broken. We noticed at the beginning of the holiday that the shower head was cracked and reported it immediately. It did still work but water sprayed out of the crack meaning the entire floor got soaked, not the biggest of issues but I did slip once which could have been a lot worse and even more so had my pregnant wife slipped. All in all, a very good hotel, especially for the price, possibly with a few teething issues so soon after the renovation. The staff were all pleasant enough and we would recommend it to others."

"We had a large double room with a shared pool. Our room had a huge comfortable bed, large walk-in wardrobe, separate shower and sitting area. Our mini bar and coffee capsules were replenished daily by Arman, who delivered them with a smile. We had our own patio area, with chairs, a table and sun beds facing the shared pool, which was very refreshing. A special thank you to our wonderful housekeeper (apologies I didn’t take note of her name) who made sure our room was spotlessly clean (inside and also outside on our patio) and who replaced our beach towels each day. Thank you also to Adriano who delivered drinks to our patio at least twice a day. We enjoyed having a chat with him each day. We were very happy with the choice of food in the main buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch. At lunch there were a good selection of salads, a different soup each day, varied choice of pastas/mains, fresh fruit and desserts. The chefs and all the kitchen staff deserve to be praised as they worked tirelessly, replishing food, cleaning up any food spills on the surfaces thus maintaining excellent hygiene standards. We enjoyed long, leisurely lunches and the waiting staff got used to us sitting after our meal with a cool drink looking out to the sea. No better way to spend a few hours! We personally don’t like to use the main buffet for every meal so we ate most evenings in the rooftop A la carte Azzuro Restaurant. The food is delicious and is freshly cooked in a kitchen on the rooftop. The menu allowed us to have a different choice every night but our favourite dishes were the squid carbonara, the fried octopus, the trout, the spaghetti with shrimp and the grilled salmon. Compliments to Stephanie (the Chef) and her assistant Alfradeo, who prepared all our meals and chatted with us about the menu. Each evening, we were welcomed to the Azzuro Restaurant with a smile by either Sarantos (who has worked for the hotel group for 23 years) or by Mateo (who has worked for the hotel for 5 years). Together, Sarantos and Mateo are a fantastic team. They are welcoming, extremely knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and efficient. Along with Stephanie and Alfradeo, they all made our evenings in the Azzuro Restaurant special. Thank you. We also enjoyed the Olive Oil themed night on Monday’s. You get a table overlooking the beach and are served a selection of plates at your table. As we had the Premium All Inclusive package we could also dine in the other Giannoulis Hotels and Resorts. During out stay, we had a few evening meals in the A la carte Azzuro Restaurant in Cavo Spada Luxury Resort & Spa (which is 2.5KM away from the Grand Bay Hotel – you book your own taxi - 10 minute taxi journey / 8 Euro each way). It has an open terrace with lovely views and serves mediterranean food. The food is of a very high standard. Big thank you to our waiter, Manthos, who served us with a smile. We met Andreas (who mainly works at the pool bar) at lunch"

"We had a wonderful stay at CHC Galini Palace Hotel. Everything was very good from the first day until we left. The best part of the hotel was the staff. Everyone was kind, friendly, and always ready to help. A special thank you to the hotel manager. He takes care of every detail and makes sure guests have a great holiday. You can see that he really cares about the hotel and its visitors. The pool area was large, clean, and perfect for relaxing. There were always enough sunbeds, and the atmosphere was calm. The food was very good with a lot of different dishes every day. There was something for everyone, and everything was fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the cocktails, which were delicious and well prepared. Our room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and the whole hotel was very clean. We really enjoyed our holiday and felt welcome all the time. The hotel offers great value for money, and we would be happy to come back again. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Crete."

It's above the restaurant run by the owner of the flat - so when one of our children was feeling poorly, the staff were incredibly kind to actually bring us the entire dinner upstairs.
