We were on our drive back from Coorg to Calicut late in the evening when we lost our way due to patchy network and unstable GPS. We saw a hoarding somewhere on the highway in Virajpet advertising a property called Orange Valley Plantation Holidays. Luckily the call connected and I was speaking to a gentleman named Mr Manoj, who shared the location of the property and said rooms were available. The property is set inside a 25 acre coffee estate. Rooms and the toilets were roomy and well maintained. The welcome we got on arrival really made us feel at home. We placed our dinner requests by 07 PM not really sure how the food would be but the simple dinner of akkiroti and the egg curry we ordered turned out to be wonderful. The night was really calm and quite and the only sound we heard were the sound of crickets chirping . No vehicle sounds, no mobile ringing, no sounds of music and televisions blaring, it was real bliss. Woke up in the morning to the wake up call of nature- numerous birds chirping around in unison. The property is surrounded by miles and miles of trees and forests. The cook Ms Latha worked her magic again and we had steaming hot puris ,string hoppers, chana and bhaji with steaming hot cups of coffee. As we were planning to leave early Mr Manoj (the owner of the property) came to see us off. The Manager Mr Prajul was also extremely helpful and took us around the place. We picked up some wonderful spices, coffee powder and home made wine from the counter in the dining area. All the spices and the coffee are grown and processed in house. Had a wonderful break and definitely looking forward to going back to this property again. A word of caution though network can be erratic and patchy. There is WIFI available in house but unfortunately was not working the day we were there. Best wishes to Mr Manoj, Mr Prajul and all the staff at Orange Valley Plantations.
