I liked the Old Days of Elegant Keswick.
This is our first visit since 2016, prior to the renovation. The service was great, the rooms are excellent. Valet was free. The bar tenders were very knowledgeable.
Although a thin selection, they have room service
The “upgrade” in the property that is really a downgrade is exchanging the elegant Fossett’s restaurant with the overly causal and confusing Marigold’s. The marigold menu has pizza, raw bar and fried chicken (NOT bone in) on a menu that has no them. The wine list is good, but very expensive and I had a situation where the wine was “bretty”. Of course the service was great and all problems taken care, but the casual nature and thin menu isn’t suitable for the history and style of Keswick.
Finally, there was a “rookie mistake” when the valet let us drive off without our car key. Since all cars are “keyless”, the backup key in my wife’s bag allowed us to leave without noticing that the valet did not give us the key before or after loading the car. Of course, management overnight the key, but it was a hassle.
I still can’t figure out my bill from them. It’s not cheap, and they do not make a big deal out of room service receipts, but I still have trouble putting it together.
I was asked about how “eco-friendly” they are now. It’s an absurd question for a luxury resort and cost, give me choices, class and clarity and we’ll worry about “the planet” at the Motel 6.
