Kesennuma Plaza Hotel

Dinner had few items and didn't taste very good. It would have been nice if they would have left the rice in the ohitsu if it was difficult to get a second helping of rice... The breakfast was delicious.

The hotel is built on a hill. There is a parking lot in front of the lobby, so guests can go up there. The rooms are designed so that you can see the sea from anywhere. Everything you need is there, but there is a step at the entrance to the toilet (unit bath), and I wish the stairs were a little sturdier. Dinner is all seafood, and the freshness and taste are better than in high-end restaurants in Tokyo. There is a wide variety of buffet lunches, and the rice is hard, but it goes well with the side dishes. The large glass window before breakfast opens is a great photo spot overlooking Kesennuma Port. The glass was also cleaned nicely. The open-air bath faces the sea and has a sense of openness, which is nice. I wish the indoor bath had a stronger ventilation. There were students on a school trip, but there were no problems at all because the dining venue and bathing time were decided. There were several types of souvenirs using shark fin, typical of Kesennuma. Alcohol was only sold from the vending machine on the 5th floor, and it was closed, probably because the school trip students were staying there. They are sold face-to-face at the front desk, so if they sold them at the convenience store, I wouldn't have had to wait through the crowds at check-in.

It is a resort hotel affiliated with Minamisanriku and Kesennuma's Hotel Kanyo, which is familiar to local commercials in the Tohoku region, and is operated by a seafood wholesaler. It is located far from the city center of Kesennuma and JR Kesennuma Station, and in addition to picking you up from JR Kesennuma Station, if you make a reservation in advance, you can take a large sightseeing bus from the east exit of JR Sendai Station free of charge. The hotel building is located on a small hill, and the entrance to the building is at the end of the observation elevator adjacent to the Kesennuma Fish Market. The exterior of the building looks quite old, but the inside is kept clean and I'm glad I was able to spend a comfortable time during my stay. The Japanese-style room has a size of 12 tatami mats and can accommodate 4 to 5 people. In addition, there is a large public bath and an open-air bath, and Kesennuma Onsen was mined after 2000, and it is a natural hot spring with seawater as the main ingredient, partly because it is by the sea. Dinner was a course meal centered on Japanese cuisine, and since Kesennuma is one of Japan's leading fishing ports, there were seafood dishes, but the main dishes were swordfish shabu-shabu, abalone steamed in sake, and shark's fin soup. Breakfast is partly a buffet-style Japanese set meal, and although there are not so many varieties, it is designed to prevent congestion, such as keeping a designated time and keeping a distance from others. Although the room I stayed in this time was not on the sea side, you can see the illuminated Kesennuma Bridge from everywhere in the building. It was very helpful to have a large public bath, dinner and breakfast, and a free shuttle from Sendai, so I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.

This was my first time staying in Kesennuma. I searched for a hotel with a view of Oshima Ohashi Bridge and Yanae Ohashi Bridge and had a Western-style room, and I chose Plaza Hotel, and it met my expectations. The view from the room was unparalleled, and at night the lights of the fishing boats moored in Kesennuma Bay and the illuminated Kanae Ohashi Bridge were in a great location, and the ``ki storm'' floating over Kesennuma Bay at dawn was very magical. We enjoyed the hot springs with great views from the floating large bath and open-air bath. I went to the designated sushi restaurant for the ``all-you-can-eat sushi'' dinner plan, excited that I would be able to enjoy delicious fresh fish landed at Kesennuma fishing port. The nigiri and gunkan that came out lacked freshness and had a strong fishy smell, so I was disappointed.
