Ballyroe Heights Hotel

Takes a lot for me to complain but the quality of this hotel and the service is shocking. There is clearly an old and new part of this hotel. I was appointed Room 26 which is on the older part of the hotel and the room is in a very poor state of repair, the chairs and carpets are badly stained, the bath and floor tiles are an absolute disgrace, there was no hot water the next morning. Worst of all was the creature that I found in the bed the next morning (see photo), absolutely disgusting. There was no manager on duty the next morning at 10am, hard to believe a hotel doesnt have a manager on duty on the busiest day of the week. I left the creature under a glass for the hotel to investigate and was advised I would get a call later that day. 2-3 days later and still no follow up so i contacted the hotel only to be lied to that the General Manager had been informed but when question further turns out it was written in a book. Absolutely disgusting turn of events, a very poorly maintained hotel with an even worse attitude towards guests. I paid €207 for a single occupancy bed and breakfast which is not cheap and I expected at the very least to be treated like a customer. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid, there are far batter hotels in Tralee.

Fantastic hotel, just outside Tralee . With unbelievable views stayed for one night on business went into the back bar which serves a really good Guinness to watch the match and Pulled up a stool beside John Collins the owner, what an absolute Salt of the Earth gentleman he is good Conversation, great insights and knowledge. Thank you, John for an otherwise boring Tuesday evening Travelling the country.

We stayed in this hotel in August 2024. Two of the best things about it: the view---amazing! Mountains and hills, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful. The other thing is the attached restaurant---we had dinner one night and it was great. The included breakfast was also amazing---made to order! Now the not so great....not bad, but we felt a little cheated. The room advertised a KING bed. We found out this is a UK-King, not a normal US-King bed. It was the same size as a US-Queen bed. Not a big deal, but they should mention that in the listing. The next thing: There is no AC in any of the rooms. Again, no mention of this in their listing. Not that much of a problem, because it was cool (mid 60's) during our stay, but in order to get the room cooled down, we had to leave the balcony door open, and there was no screen at all. Luckily, we had no birds, or bugs or who knows what in our room when we returned from our outings for the day. Also, on one of the days, it was raining, so the door couldn't stay open---it rained in the room if you did. Not ideal. We are a couple who likes to sleep in a very cold room---we always turn our hotel rooms down to 68 degrees or less when we sleep. Not sure we ever got below 70 in this room. Next....there is no mini-fridge in the room, and no icemaker in the hotel. We had to ask the front desk for any ice bucket, and they had it delivered from the restaurant to our room, but again, not ideal. Lastly, the room is very, very small---only 2 feet between the bed and the wall, so if you plan on spending any time in the room other than sleeping, it's very crowded. PS---this is a very old hotel---needs some updating. The carpet in our room looked new, so that was nice, but the walk to our room has some very old carpet, walls that need painted, and furniture that looks like it's from the 70's or 80's---and VERY well used. For a short stay (a day or two) it's fine, but any longer---stay at a more modern, updated hotel.

Stayed in Ballyroe heights hotel outside Tralee recently. Beautiful hotel, amazing views, lovely food and fantastic staff. Within 10 minute drive of banna beach and Fenit strand. Rooms beautiful and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend.

One of the best hotels you will find in the area with the most amazing staff. We love it there as a family. My son has additional needs and every time they see him the staff treat him with the upmost respect and care. We have been going to The Ballyroe Heights Hotel on/off for the last 20 years and there is no place else my family would rather support then this fine establishment. You wont be disappointed with the food, atmosphere or views from the hotel. It is a gem of a find.

From the friendly welcome to the excellent food this is really a great place. Just booked it by chance and hopefully we will be back. Really friendly service throughout our stay. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional and a lovely bar setting. February weather just ok so I can only imagine what this place is like in the summer. Yes we will be back. Thank you to all the friendly staff.

I Had An Excellent Time Out From Hard Hiking Either Side Of My Stay. I Was Wrecked By The Time I Arrived There. On Leaving I Had Fully Recovered. The Bed Was So Perfect And Being Able To Take A Lovely Invigorating Bath Really Made It So Refreshing. Lovely Friendly Warm-Hearted Staff Made It Feel So Welcoming. I Felt Very Special. I Will Be Back Again
