Uroa Bay Beach Resort

the final bill was higher than what we used, so... The check-out time is until 10, although when we ordered in the online system it was written that until 11 o'clock. Staying in the room until 11 was not allowed. The food is delicious, but I saw the waiter putting the food that fell out back into the dish. Some of the staff are very polite, but certainly not all. The location is great, the beach too. We bought the tours from the locals outside the hotel gate, it was cheaper and an interesting experience.

This luxury hotel in Pongwe Beach completely exceeded our expectations. Right when we stepped out of our taxi, we were wrapped in warmth and genuine kindness - turns out the staff go through 3-6 months of training, and it really shows! The service here is definitely a cut above what you typically find in Zanzibar. The pool area is a total highlight. Unlike many hotels where pools are just for show, this one's actually fun to hang out in. The swim-up bar is fantastic - we ended up having a few cocktails there every day (great prices too!). There's something really special about enjoying your drink while chilling in the water. We treated ourselves to a spa day and wow - the massage therapists really know what they're doing. We practically floated out of there afterward! We stayed in the wonderful Deluxe room with half board plan. Both breakfast and dinner have tons of variety, and everything's fresh and tempting. The staff is super attentive - they're always checking if you need anything and happy to make special arrangements. Even vegans will find plenty to eat here (though don't expect tofu - it's not really a thing in Zanzibar yet). Empty or unused plates will be removed from your table in an instant. Quick heads up about the beach - during the day and evening, the water's quite far out due to the tide. Honestly though, it didn't bother us at all. The whole place is incredibly well-maintained - you won't find any broken stuff or things that need fixing. The rooms are top-notch with all the luxuries you'd expect, including TVs with Netflix (just log in with your own account). Big shoutout to Esther at reception who hooked us up with a late checkout for free - super appreciated! Said, who greeted us on arrival, was also fantastic. Actually, the entire team goes out of their way to make you feel at home. The overall vibe here is just perfect - luxurious but still laid-back and welcoming. Everything works like it should, the staff is amazing, and we felt totally taken care of the whole time. If you're looking for a really special place to stay in Zanzibar, this is it!

Maharaja Boutique Hotel Zanzibar

The new hotel is invested by Indians. It has a very good environment and the service industry is quite enthusiastic. The package includes three meals a day. I stayed here for two days. The quality of the food was quite good and not too repetitive. The front desk of the hotel can arrange to go to the peninsula beach opposite to watch the sunset, but the beach opposite requires a fee of 10,000 shillings per person. There are usually activities, performances, etc. on the beach. The hotel has a casual style, quiet and clean. Their general manager, Mr. Saipan, is very enthusiastic, and their waiter, Maxmillion, provides excellent service and recommends tasting their Stone City rose wine. In addition, I would like to take the opportunity to recommend a good local driver, Mohammed Ali, who is originally from Oman. He is a nice person. He found the beach where we can go chasing dolphins, watching starfish, snorkeling, etc. It only costs 30 dollars to charter a boat, three in front and one in front. During the hour, the captain also gave me fruit as a gift. I felt that the service was very good and I consciously tipped. It was a great experience. There is this driver's business card in the picture, you can find him.

Zanzibar Bay Resort & Spa

R&R in a friendly and welcoming environment. Zanzibar was on the bucket list and using this hotel as the base for us to explore the island was a good choice. As you do, you read reviews and then make the choice based on reading between the lines. The hotel food, accommodation, entertainment and facilities were value for money and representative of similar priced hotels in other third world tourist spots. We thought the buffet offered a good variety, often having different themes. Our all inclusive holiday package proved to be cost effective and the drinks available, 24/7, were most enjoyable. The hotel has three pools and sun loungers were always available. The beach was ok to stroll along, when the tide was out, and you could take this opportunity to visit the nearby village and interact with the locals. The hotel does provide a free shuttle bus every day for guests who would like to experience a beach that is more commercial and user friendly. The bus drops you off at a beach cafe where you can use their sun loungers when purchasing food or a drink. This was perfect for spending time sunbathing, swimming, browsing in the numerous souvenir stalls and interacting with the Masai beach boys. We took advantage of using the travel agents onsite at the hotel to book excursions which enabled us to explore the island and we found them to be reliable and competitively priced with our tour operator. Five of us also took a trip on a local's motor boat across the bay to visit a sandbank and mangrove forest for $15 each. Be prepared to haggle to get the price down to what you are comfortable to pay. We also took the opportunity to eat at a Said's Bustani Local Restaurant located 200m from the entrance to the hotel, walking along the road towards the village on the left handside. Two Tanzanian meals with drinks for $20 was an enjoyable experience as was the 200 shilling ride in a Dala Dala to the village beyond Marumbi which we boarded outside the hotel. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and our visit to Zanzibar.
