Chestnut Grove Himalayan Lodge

The place is on the NH 309 surrounded by forests and has stunning views of the Kumaon Himalayan ranges. The food was simple but excellent. The “sukhi aloo subji “ and the chicken masala was delicious. The wi fi is decent but not great. The snacks like pakodas and French fries were also tasty. The place is remote hence carry essential medicines, liquor ( if you plan to have a few pegs) . Mr Rajendra is an excellent host and will arrange anything that may be required. The silence, the chirping of birds and the forest atmosphere is intoxicating.

ChestNut, It’s a great place to stay. It was the best experience staying there. Location is very beautiful and close to nature. This place is very well maintained. Mr Rawat and Staff was extremely friendly. Food was yummy. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely want to come back to this place again.

We made a last minute booking at Chestnut Grove and Vivek was kind enough to accommodate us. We stayed here for one night. The room was gorgeous with a little loft ( which our 5 yr old was delighted with). The cottage was clean and tastefully done up, quite spacious too. The views are amazing from this property. Food was homely and great. Our guided walk in the woods around was lovely too. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Cosy and comfortable cottages. Excellent hospitality. Nice healthy food. Can spend days here! Nature in abundance. Chai ki Tapri is a bonus. Home away from home. Can go for tracks, visit ancient temples and what not!

The place is phenomenal. Very peaceful, quiet, amidst the pine tree forest. What an amazing view to wake up to in the morning. Just 20 steps away from our cottage the entire Himalayan range opened up. The staff has been very courteous & kind. They made the best food and truly made us feel like at home. Thank you 🙏

This place should be the destination for your vacation, to enjoy the beauty, peace and the amazing hospitality of this place. While this is a night stopover for few people travelling to Munsiyari, but this is well worth being a destination to spend a rather long holiday. The rooms: 2 beautifully done cottages with an additional loft sleeping place, 2 rustic bamboo cabins, and 2 regular deluxe rooms. What differentiates them are the tasteful small touches in the rooms, the beautifully done bathrooms, the quality of the toiletries, towels, linen, etc. Overall comparable to some very expensive places. The food: Finger licking good, their kitchen staff is blessed, they make some of the freshest, great tasting food. You could ask for whatever you feel like having, and it's guaranteed to be like home cooked, light on the stomach food. The staff: They are the rock stars of this place. A team of 4 are dedicated to make your stay not just comfortable, but a memorable one. They go beyond their means to pamper you like royalty. The place: Great views of the Himalayas from their view point, a very serene jungle right outside your room, where you can enjoy bird watching every morning and evening, right there sitting outside your room. Or you could take long walks in the jungle around, which brings great peace to your body and mind. Hot and Cold water are available 24 hours, they provide heaters if you're feeling cold (but the rooms are pretty cozy by themselves), evening fireplace in the lawn, at times there could be electricity issues, but they have generator backup if you need (trust me, you won't), they even have a washing machine, in case you want to wash your clothes, while on a longer trip !! There are board games available for the kids (sorry no TV and rightly so), but the real fun for the kids would be the be closer to nature in a safe environment. As for adults with mobility restrictions, like most places in the mountains, it could be a bit tricky to go up and down, but they do help them get to the room and provide room service in such cases. A vacation here, would really give you the comforts of a high end property, which you often don't find in such remote locations, personalized service as you would expect from a smaller place and the peace and tranquility which you can never find in the larger resorts or properties. Thanks to Vivek and his amazing team, I've had a wonderful time here, and with their hospitality they've ensured that this would not be my last trip there :) .....
