The price is expensive. For such a big hotel, I asked the front desk to borrow an Apple mobile phone charging cable and said no. The front desk will keep urging me to check out at 2 pm. The hotel's breakfast is also very average. The overall environmental service is comparable to that of Kenya next door. It's a big difference, not as expected, price and service are not equal

There were many other hotels we could have chosen to stay in Kampala but having had such a great experience 4 months ago, we decided to return to the Protea Hotel by Marriott in Kampala. Joan and Charlotte were very good at checking us in quickly. Thank you so much as we were very tired having travelled nearly 20 hours by plane! Maurice, Noah and Rehema were excellent with their customer service by ensuring my mother and I had everything needed for a nice evening. Our room did not have a mini fridge so Maurice suggested he will go and check for a spare one. Maurice brought us one, given the fact that the hotel was almost full. Noah, thank you for all your help in making the tasks I needed completing easier and quick. Maurice, Noah and Rehema thank you for your great hospitality. You were all so kind. Jasper, Sampson and Issac looked after us when we were having diner in our room and made sure we had what we needed by being so quick with their service. They had to run to the kitchen back and forth and were very efficient although they were all very busy that night. In the morning, the breakfast buffet was great with a big variety of food choices. The chef on the night duty made some Poha upon our request, thank you for doing that for us. The Poha was delicious and so were the Indian pakoras. Chef Godfrey made beautiful omelettes as we wanted and went beyond his time to fulfil my mother's need with the chillies. Derrick made us teas the way we liked and the teas were perfect. Cissy and Aisha thank you for your kindness and service. Sharon it was lovely to see you and wish you all the best. The buffet was a mixture of continental and cooked breakfast with a couple of ”chef's speciality of the day” which were delicious! Well worth the money. Samuel, thank you for your speedy checkout and your advice. Thank you all again for your kindness and making another stay wonderful. We will miss you all but promise to return again in the near future. Each one of you have contributed to another great stay and made it even more special, you were all very friendly, courteous and very accommodating. The quality of each of you was very impressive. With regards to the hotel, it was great to see some improvements to the room. The bed was very comfortable it felt like sleeping on a cloud :) The room was very clean, spacious and the new decor was superb. However the shower gel needs to be changed back to the old style one as the new gel is so runny like water and not soapy at all! Also, the WiFi was a bit slow this time and got cut a few times. Still giving 5 out of 5 stars as each member of the staff were amazing and professional with their duties. Can not wait to see the refurbished version of the hotel in months to come :)

The food is so good, the Chinese food is great, and the breakfast is good. It is much better than what I had in Shanghai. I miss it very much when I arrive in Tanzania. I really want to go back to Uganda. The chef of this restaurant is the best I have eaten in Africa. Recommend

Having had alight meal, we were ready to go, requested for the bill, after the bill was brought, we requested to confirm which type of payment to make. We were advised that we could pay by credit card, cash or mobile money. We requested to make payment using mobile money and they accepted. The payment number was confirmed and the name of the recipient. It was then that we initiated payment to the said number and payment was made in direct transfer and the waiter was witness to this. Despite having completed the payment with a payment confirmation, we were denied exit with reasons that payment hadn't been received. Gates were forcefully locked by untrained junior staff an act which got us terrified. We spoke to Chinese management who pretended not to know about the Ugandan mobile money payment systems. They started being abusive inclusive of their junior staff. But the payment was clearly showing cash had been transferred to a *MIN FANG*. This happened on 7th March 2020, Saturday evening at around 11:30pm. We believe this was a trick to try get us to make additional payment. It's not until we mentioned that we would put this incident on trip advisor that they opened the gates. It was a terrible experience after a good meal. Be aware of such tricks.

From the security to the front desk staff and other staff at large. They were super helpful. I would say like a hive mind all up to one task and that’s to assist and make one feel at home. I don’t remember all names but the housekeeping team was super clean. Grace at the restaurant was just amazing.Definitely coming back !!!!

EEssygarciaSimply amazing! Gladys and Matthew were absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful. The place is brand new, modern, very unique in terms of decoration and spotless clean. Spacious living room and bedroom. Totally safe and quiet at any time of the day and night, thanks to its position away from the noisy main road, but just 5 minutes walk from it, where to find everything you need… Central Kampala is less than 20 minutes trip and very well connected.
Definitely my place when back in Kampala. Thanks Gladys and Matthew for the perfect stay!
We had booked the ballroom for an event and it was amazing. All thanks to Hamna and manish. They hosted the event well and made sure it went in a flow. Amazing team work and the food was delicious. Thank you Hamna and team once again. Will definitely do an event again.
EEDWIN MARKThe hotel is in a strategic location, be sure to ask for the golf course side to avoid noise from traffic. Interior of the rooms is perfect, nice bathtub, warm water, hair dryer and carpet.
The only annoying bit was ordering for food via intercom, Restuarant respondent wasn’t friendly and seemed to struggle with English. I asked to use the wine glasses from the bar but was asked to pay 10,000 for using the wine glasses.
During the COVID curfew time (7pm), you will struggle to access an open supermarket coz it’s CBD area.
I would surely check-in anytime. Price was amazingly low coz I booked online at trip.com
GGuest UserReally nice super friendly staff. I'll start with that. Including the manager who offered to provide any help I might need getting around the city and the doorman who literally walked me to where I needed to go the next day. Great price. Good food. Room was fine. Beer came with a frosted glass - I shouldn't forget to mention that. That says it all.
刘刘Stayed here for the second time, the hotel is not too long, it is acceptable, the hardware level is nothing to say, the international standard, the breakfast is very rich (and takeaway meals can be picked up by yourself), it is acceptable in all aspects, but the price is too expensive .
SSusan ThompsonStaff were friendly. Information in the room on resort and room etc would be helpful. The kitchen needs to be upgraded along with other outside areas. Nets were too small for bed.
A great relaxing spot in the middle of a busy city. Breakfast was included and was good.
We will go back again.
小小火柴头皮痒Every time I travel to Uganda, I always stay at this hotel. I booked a room with a balcony. The room was large and comfortable. . . The hotel is also very big with a swimming pool. Every night there is a live band playing on the lawn. The hotel restaurant tastes good and the price is very affordable. . . Praise
SSapphirekoWe booked a one bedroom apartment. It was agreed in writing by email. On arrival on the agreed date we were told there were no one bedroom apartments available until the next day. So we were given a studio for the night. It was agreed there was no charge for that first night. The next day we went into a one bedroom apartment. It was reasonably OK but nothing in the kitchen actually worked. The cooker didn’t work. A cupboard door fell off. The oven didn’t work and so on. We were given a two ring gas hob as a temporary solution but it took up what little available space we had on the worktop. Despite being promised the cooker would be sorted the next day we were stuck with the “temporary” solution till we left. 13 days before our month was up, we asked to move to a two bedroom apartment. Staff were happy to arrange that but I was asked to pay $700 for the upgrade. I pointed out that $700 was the difference between a one bedroom and two bedroom apartment for the whole month. Surely as there were only 13 days left in our stay it would be fairer to pay, say, $350, instead of a full month’s difference of $700. This was out of the question, apparently. So, I told them we would leave at the end of the month instead of extending it to two months. We picked a two bedroom apartment with a washing machine. Big mistake. Not only did the washing machine not work but neither did both ovens nor the toaster etc. the “washing machine specialist” who came round was a 16 year old girl armed with just a screwdriver. She confirmed the washing machine was faulty - something we already knew. Next day two men came round to fix it. When we got back there was a note to say it had all been sorted. It hadn’t. It was still broken. So we complained again. The following morning, SEVEN people turned up with another washing machine. This one worked but, unfortunately the entire control panel was in Chinese with no English at all. The fridges in our original apartment and this later one had touch screen control panels but they were entirely in Chinese. I discovered they were also counterfeit LG fridges but that’s another story. We were given the temporary gas rings we had in the last apartment as the hobs didn’t work here either. So, when our month was up they were very surprised we were leaving. “What about your second month?” I was asked. Hmmm I thought I’d made it quite clear we weren’t staying when charged $700 for 13 days’ upgrade. So, nice location. But, we won’t be back any time soon.
TTACY CalebThe need to improve their service, poor customer care at the reception
Very high expensive local food
no wifi in rooms
very poor breakfast, deserve tobe only for locals not international
