I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout my visit. The included meals were absolutely delicious, offering a great variety of flavors. My room was spacious and comfortable, featuring large, cozy beds. The onsen was a delightful addition, adding a relaxing touch to the overall experience. Highly recommend!

Although it is far from central Kyoto, there is a shuttle bus so it was easy to get around. I searched a lot to find a ryokan near Kyoto that had a pretty open-air bath with tatami rooms and delicious kaiseki, and I'm completely satisfied!

I can't explain enough how much we enjoyed our stay here. The staff was super courteous and spoke very good English. The location is gorgeous and quiet and the hotel runs a shuttle to and from the nearest rail station several times a day if you want to get into Kyoto proper.
That said, it's likely to take an hour to get to Kyoto by shuttle/train or 30 minutes if you take a rather expensive taxi. Plan accordingly! I think we would visit again.

Amazing experience. It’s out of the way to get to, and there isn’t anything else really around, but that’s kind of the point….. you go for this hotel to just relax and dine at the hotel. The in room meal was amazing and the onsen was super clean and relaxing. Highly recommended.

This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on.
We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful.
We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend.
This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it.

I used the day trip lunch plan for a dinner with an important business partner. In conclusion, it was a huge success. The hostess was also very happy and said that she would like to stay there privately. From the atmospheric thatched-roofed entrance, I was surprised by the inorganic door that seemed to suddenly refuse visitors, but as soon as the door opened, I was greeted with polite guidance from smiling staff, and my expectations rose. I waited in the library until my meal was ready, but the calm atmosphere and beautiful scenery soothed me, and I never felt like I was being kept waiting. The atmosphere of open dining Shunzen Zuihe was nice, and I was able to concentrate on the conversation in the two-person seat by the window, which was a bit like a private room. There were five main dishes to choose from, and I chose grilled boar meat with sansho pepper, and my partner chose botan nabe, both of which were very delicious. I also used the library after my meal, and since I was able to order coffee, I was able to spend some time relaxing after my meal. Contrary to the pure Japanese exterior, the interior has a gallery-like atmosphere, making the time you spend in this space itself worthwhile. Recommended for anyone who wants to spend time in a good atmosphere, regardless of age or gender!
