Double Eagle might just be my favorite place to stay in the mountains. We have been here numerous times. 1st time we stayed in a two bed cabin with family. It was great to have the fireplace and kitchenette to cook a few meals. We loved going to the restaurant on site - we sit in the bar that opens around 4 for games and cocktails and then dinner which the food here is great! The spa services are amazing. Wonderful massage and pool/spa. They have kid hours at the pool so we cant take our kids all the time but I think its from 11-1 and 4-6 that they are allowed to go. 2nd time we went we stayed in a 1 bedroom upstairs with a patio and it was good. Not as good as the cabin, but it was just fine for the 4 of us. Skied, went to June lake beach, there is a park nearby for the kids, lunch at tiger bar, etc...Double Eagle has everything so you don't have to leave, but close enough to town for a short drive to go to the restaurants and ski lift.

Our stay at Double Eagle Resort was incredible! It was my wife and I's first family trip with our new baby (10 weeks old) and the resort had everything we could want, restaurant on site, spa, catch and release pond, and gracious, pleasant staff who were very accommodating to any requests we made. We stayed in one of the cabins on site and got to experience our first large snowfall while enjoying the warmth of the in-room fireplace. The food at the restaurant was excellent and we tried different items at all times of day- breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert. Particularly the salmon at dinner stood out to me and my wife loved the chicken sandwich for lunch. I would 10/10 recommend this resort for your stay if you want a beautiful and relaxing place to stay that is close to several lakes and a short drive into town.

We've been to the Double Eagle several years but this will unfortunately be our last visit. I don't normally write reviews, and the few times I have done so, was to write positive reviews, so this is an unpleasant task... but I want to warn other travelers. Here's what happened to us: We arrived late at night and made our way to the guest cabin only to find it had not been cleaned. I had to sweep the kitchen and wipe down the table and counters, which were filthy. When I looked around, I found that there were none of the usual expected supplies were left for us. No trash bags, no dishwasher detergent, etc... Even worse -- no wifi. None at all. Frustrated at the state of things, I quickly had to shift into dinner gear and get some food into the kids before they started to melt down. I threw some stuff in the oven, only to discover there were no oven mitts. Hence no way to take anything out without burning my hands. As I made my way around the unit I saw numerous broken things -- things which had brought to the attention of management the year before -- none of which had been addressed. The phone in the unit still didn't work, and the carpets were still atrocious. Door locks were still broken, windows still didn't open, there were still holes in walls, etc... Every year this property is in worse shape. Which is sad because the guest cabin was once a wonderful rental. The location is great and the views are fantastic. But that's where the good news ends. I get the impression that the guest cabin is an afterthought and that most of the attention is given to the rentals on the other side of the road. The most frustrating thing of all is the fact that it's impossible to get anyone to pick up a phone. There are numerous numbers listed for the resort in the flier they give you but nobody picks up any of them. It's incredibly frustrating to pay money to people and to be completely taken advantage of and for nobody to take any responsibility. The one time I did finally get someone one the line, and tried to explain my frustration, the call was disconnected. Or hung up...? I hope not. But in either case, when I called back, it immediately went through to voicemail again. The only good thing I can say is that the property manager seemed to feel badly for the state of things and offered us a credit -- which was nice -- but the bottom line is, while I'm grateful for the credit, I would have preferred to pay the full price have had a more pleasant stay and been able to reach people and had problems addressed. I would prefer to have built up a relationship with the Double Eagle, and be coming back next year, with the same two families. As it is, I was embarrassed by the state of the cabin, and have promised my friends to find another place next year. Very sorry to share this with everyone, but hopefully it will help steer you towards a better vacation destination.

At check in,three young men chatting (chattering) in the office,, I was asked to sign a lengthy set of "rules" but refused to give me a copy. Was given a different, briefer, set which told us we had to ***** own bed when we check our, really? (Nope, later told us not necesary! Carpet gritty, toilet room floor diety and hair in corner. Fireplace did not work, told it was only decorative anyway. Freezer area if frig needs defrosting. Use dishes washed by prior guest. Bath towels are old and thin, not resort quality. Do NOT stay on lower floor of "resort rooms" thin ceiling/floor above sounds like herd if cows above till 2 am. Dangerous frayed lamp cord between beds Patio chairs need cushions. No microwave in room Dining room not classy, more like a college cafeteria. Bar is better but way too small. Staffvthere was pleasant but clearly understaffed and poorly trained or supervised. One did not know the bar served tacos on Tuesday like a sign a foot away mentioned ( we asked, what kind). We assumed our room would be in main building but they are in several four plexus around the lake. That was nice but again, chairs need cushions and insist on an upper unit. We would have enjoyed wine and snacks in the main(?), building in front of a roaring fire, alas. Nothing like that and no staff to do it. Would we say again? Yes. Would we recommend? Yes. Is it what it shoul/could be? NOPE Is it worth $300/night? No, but in this day and age and compared to so much junk out there I would say yes or just go buy a trailer or camper. Breakfast should be included but for only 12 (?) rooms without a kitchen I see why it is not. So perhaps a "cabin" is a better choice for many? Get rid if the stupid coffee pot and put in Keurig. Funny, not! The little basket had two empty coffee packs in it left there by a prior guest. Not checked by staff. So, who runs this place, who owns it? Seems like an absentee, corporate investor and not a hands on pride of ownership type. Finally, we did not respond to the survey we were sent a few days after our stay. It was stupid as are many such. Asked to rate certain things, there is no N/A. We did not use the bar, the gym, the pool, etc.

We booked a regular hotel room with two beds. It was very nice and clean. Staff at checkin desk was super nice. The only issue we had was that kids aren't allowed to swim in the mornings until after check out. I would have never booked this hotel if I had known that. Not very family friendly.

This place is spectacular. Amazing amazing grounds. Spectacular views. Having access to spa is the best part. There is an outdoor portion to the indoor pool. You can get beer/wine/smoothie by pool. It was 80 degrees during the day an no air conditioning was not a problem. We hiked to gem lake which was beautiful, hard and very interesting with the two dams and railroad.

If you want to go to June Mountain to ski with your family this is the place to stay. We found the hotel staff to be very courteous and informative at this hotel. The spa, Pool and workout equipment were top notch. Stayed in a little cottage near the pond which was perfect or my family of four.

The resort has both guest rooms and cabins. We had a two bedroom cabin. Went with most significant other and our kids and grandkids. They have a stocked catch and release pond, a restaurant, an indoor pool with a jacuzzi and a full gym. The men’s and women’s locker rooms have great showers, a whirlpool and a steam room. Lake fishing is nearby and the cabins have grills to BBQ on. They make cookies and put them out around 4pm. The grandkids loved it. Mosquitoes were a pain but there has been an enormous amount of snow with residual melt. Two beautiful waterfalls within sight. Would go back in a heartbeat. It is not luxurious but it is very comfortable.

Arriving at June lake was amazing and arriving at double eagle was a true pleasure. We arrived late luckily the staff were there for us although even if we missed out they had an envelope with our room key ready by mailbox. Although when we got to our room there wasn’t an electricity luckily they were able to provide us with another room in a few minutes. Again I prefer some service when it comes to luggage and there wasn’t any and this time around it was tough since our room was upstairs but with the room switch we were downstairs. So if you have luggage make sure to request a room downstairs. The view of the room is beautiful. It overlooked the beautiful trees and a pond. Great and memorable stay.
