Hotels Near North Beach Public Access Entrance in Jolly Harbour

1. The beach is Whoo Hooo drop dead beautiful. 2. PLENTY of shade, chairs, sunbeds 3. The staff are lovely ( all of them ). 4. The food is basic but good. The pork with garlic mash, salsa & salad was devine. 5. The beach is spotless & clean. Not one person smoking dope or selling anything on the beach. 6. The other guests are friendly. 7. The tourist desk is same price tours as anyone else so no need to shop around. 8. Our room had 100% wifi all of the time, full air con & fan. Power shower etc etc. When we ask them to clean it they do it straight away. 9. I sat on the balcony watching the sun go down overlooking the newly renovated pool with an excellent brandy alexander in my hand wondering why everyone who thinks this hotel isn't their vibe would be checking the forums to then slag it off? My advice - if you don't think its for you - pay three times more to stay anywhere else...

Just spent 10 days at Hawksbill resort and loved it. We were in one of the superior ground floor rooms with an amazing view of the beach and just a few yards walk to the water. Food was better than expected after some of the reviews. The cost of the stay was much less that other resorts and it is rated as 3 star accordingly but the ambiance and setting is much more than 3 star to me. We also loved having lunch at the Sea grape restaurant, especially the Caeser salad. Breakfasts were superb and the evening meals were good also. The infinity pool is amazing and it's great to stand by that, as part of the resort and be able to see, 4 beaches, no building more than two storeys high, no visible vehicles and the back drop of the hills and jungle behind. Absolutely stunning. Staff were excellent and I cannot remember all the names (probably due to the excellent rum cocktails supplied) but I would like to give a shout to David and Tiffany behind the bars and Gerald, with the water sports, who was an amazing mine of info and a hell of a character. Although there were a lot of people there., the spread out nature of the resort meant you could always find a sun bed not too close to others. The sea was also crystal clear. In short (too late) we loved it !

The location of this guesthouse is perfect as a base in Antigua, or even to wander around St Johns day or night. There are two routes to walk into town. 15min walk down past the gas station will take you to the supermarket, markets and West bus station, and 15mins heading right will take you to the port, gift shops and food outlets. The guesthouse is on a residential street in a residential area, and make no mistake it is a very safe and friendly area! It can be noisy with the wildlife ( dogs, roosters and tree frogs) and noise from passing cars with music blasting out day and night, but welcome to Antigua where you will hear this everywhere, and it just adds to the experience! Prince is the most hard working Man we have met in a guesthouse setting! Prince is constantly looking at ways to improve the guest experience and after staying there for a month, we are in a position to say that he genuinely cares for his guests and chases people constantly to sort out repairs, and limit inconvenience to people. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean thanks to Prince and his housekeeper Miss Jacobs. We are happy to call them friends after the care we have received. Prince will arrange transport and advise/help book trips etc. Set your expectations to the fact that you are staying at a guesthouse where other guests come and go, you will have use of the communal kitchen and outside space, but will have your own private bathroom facilities. We used this setting as a way to meet new people and listen to their life experiences from all walks of life and from many different countries. We absolutely without a doubt will stay with Prince when we next visit Antigua. Thanks for the opportunity to meet you and Miss Jacobs.
