Firstly, they need to change their description on their website, its nothing like its described. As for the food, we ordered the gammon steaks and had to wait 40 minutes for it. One plate at a time arrived from the kitchen by a woman who looked like she had to much to drink and in denim shorts. We waited for plate 2. Gammon was resting in its watery juice and eggs looked like they had a fight with each other in the pan. Peas were cold and chips looked unappetising. Plates were also cold, which is a no no on serving hot food. We hardly ate any of it. We were asked on 3 occasions if it was all OK, but felt if we complained it would kick off. We felt it would be easier to just pay and go.

Poor over priced food and drinks. Rooms are noisy and dirty. Very u loved. Very ran down. Unhelpful staff and owners. Stayed when traveling with work. Room I was given must have been above the cellar as the noise of the coolers etc kept me awake all night. When asked if I could be moved I was told no as they were full. ( no apology). When speaking to another member of staff they told me I was the only guest. Room was dusty and very u loved. Furniture is damaged and old and not fit for purpose. Bathrooms was very stained and patches of mould in and around bath/shower

A last minute booking when needing somewhere to stay travelling from North Norfolk for a friends memorial. Fabulous response via email and phone from landlady Teresa and did all she could to help us We booked the apartment as we were travelling with our black lab Arriving late afternoon the lovely barmaid who I think was called Ellie (sorry if I got that wrong) however she was so friendly showed us to our room orientated us to the accommodation and local area, even asking if we were ok with our bags. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay We were made to feel so welcome by the landlord and landlady their staff, family and locals. The accommodation was lovely and clean and well serviced with added extras such as tea / coffee/ hot chocolate/ biscuits / small cartons of milk / toiletries. For breakfast we visited the beautiful village shop where he bakes his own bed and cooks fresh sausage and bacon We had an extremely pleasant stay, some lovely walks with well sign posted footpaths. Thank you to Teresa and Dean and everyone we met, we will be back. The negative reviews really are not deserved

Booked a stay for the night of the 13 th July on the strength of the prospect of a decent dinner and good breakfast, as advertised. However on arrival it transpired that neither was available at all so we had to eat elsewhere. I highly recommend the village shop for coffee and croissants. The beds were comfortable enough but the welcome tray had two cups and no saucers. The bathroom had no basin shelf or tooth mugs (nowhere to put them of course), bath towels small as one would expect and no bath mat. It looked as though the loo had been used but to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt it could be that the lavatory cleaner had a greenish tinge which was somewhat unattractive. I think my husband has also sent a review. I hope he didn’t have to pay full price for b & b as there was no ‘b’. The one member of staff was as helpful as she could be. It was not her fault.

Although I did not stay at this local village pub, I broke down in my vehicle passing through Iwerne Minster to then park in the Talbot car park until the AA attended leading onto a recovery being needed eventually. Total time in their carpark approx 8 hours. My main points being were that, the staff throughout had no problem me being there off the road, so friendly and helpful and arranged a local return taxi to take me back to recover my luggage 20 miles away at my B&B coming back to get recovered to get back up to Norfolk. I just wanted to review them and say that the friendliness and help took a lot of the stress away from an extremely long day/night. A massive thank you to one and all at the Talbot along with the local taxi guy Mike.

We have stayed overnight at The Talbot many times in the last few years to visit family in the area, very friendly staff, clean roons and excellent breakfasts We were booked in again for this evening, other family members arrived yesterday, shower not working in one room, milk on tea tray was dated 2023 and no breakfast available this morning! Despite offering breakfast on their website and then refusing a refund to the family members who had paid for Friday and Saturday.

We so wanted to love this place but it needs improvement in all areas. There was a young man sitting on a table outside, he was dressed in a tracksuit and was smoking away. He asked us if we had a booking and told us to go in and sit anywhere we liked. The menu was disappointing, everything with chips. I wasn’t keen on anything really and opted for chicken and mushroom pie, it was just like a pie you would get in a fish and chip shop. Our friends had gammon and wondered where the pineapple was. The food was just about edible, didn’t bother with dessert. It was so disappointing. Another couple sent their food back and was asked if they would like their food put back in the microwave! We were there on a Friday and it was virtually empty. This place needs to change drastically if it wants to be a successful dining pub.

Stayed for 2 nights over new years. Very friendly staff however very disappointed that on New Year’s Day they “ran out of breakfast” so we didn’t get to eat. Seems ridiculous as we were the only guests staying that night… too hungover maybe??

I have stayed here for two nights. Travelling the country for work I usually rely on Premier Inn simply as you get what it says on the tin, so was quite apprehensive when I booked this. I didn’t need to be. What a lovely friendly place. My room was lovely, clean warm and a very comfortable bed in which I slept like a log. The bar, barman and owners were friendly welcoming and the atmosphere was friendly and made me feel at home. Breakfast cooked to order and excellent. Evening meal, a lovely home made lasagne, what’s not to love. I know the owners are fairly new and in the process of making their mark, so if you haven’t been and you are passing them pop in, you won’t be disappointed.
