It was a moving experience to stay at the historic Oyashirazu. To be honest, the hotel itself is neat, but it has a Showa-era feel with no convenience stores or restaurants in the area. However, I thought it was wonderful to see this hotel standing alone on the cliffs of Oyashirazu overlooking the Sea of Japan. Oyashirazu has long been the most difficult place to climb in the Hokuriku region. Historical figures such as Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Matsuo Basho, Emperor Meiji, and Walter Weston (a mountaineer who introduced Oyashirazu as the starting point of the Japanese Alps) have spoken about and been involved with Oyashirazu in various ways. Each of their Oyashirazu stories is very interesting, and I personally thought it was great to be able to stay in Oyashirazu, a difficult place with a historical story.
