**Review of Hampton Inn in Irondale, AL** I had a horrible stay at this hotel. Our flight arrived after midnight, and we were exhausted and ready for bed. Upon checking in and entering our room, we were hit with an overwhelming stench of mold. It was disgusting and unbearable. When we approached the A/C, we found the entire carpet soaking wet from a massive water leak. I went to request another room and had to wait a long time before getting one. By then, it was past 1 a.m. What made me furious was the front desk clerk's reaction. When I asked her to check the smelly room and wet carpet, she declined, acknowledging she was already very familiar with the problem. This was extremely disheartening. The new room was no better. It had a bug, hair in the bed (suggesting the sheets hadn't been changed), and hairs in the shower. Save yourself the unpleasant experience and stay somewhere else.

I have stayed in Hampton Inn hotels for years and this was the worst hotel I have ever stay in. It is a run down hotel with musty smell. Hallway carpeting is very dirty. Tile floors in entry were filthy. Room was not cleaned well, lamps and lighting fixtures were rusty. First room AC didn’t cool well and no hot water. 2nd room sink fixture was totally loose Bathroom floor was sticky and carpet not cleaned. Air conditioner was noisy and rusty, mirrors in room not cleaned. You most certainly can find a better option in the area.

Some updates appear to have been done in room, new carpet and paint. However, run down hotel with musty smell. Hallway carpeting is very dirty. Room was not cleaned well, items from previous guest on chair. Bathroom floor was sticky and had hair, the shower soap dispenser was missing, shampoo dispenser empty, shower tiles moldy. Air conditioner was noisy and rusty, mirrors in room not cleaned. Can likely find better in area.

How on earth does this hotel have a "good" rating overall? This hotel smells bad, had bugs, is completely run down, and has inconsiderate staff. From other reviews, it has apparently been this way for years. DO NOT STAY HERE under any circumstance.

The person at the desk (evening 5/18/24) lolgave me a room that was already occupied. She was unable to determine what rooms were occupied or clean and available. I waited for over 30min for a room to be cleaned. Beyond this fiasco the desk person had the worst attitude and customer service. Please go 5 miles away to the Hampton inn in Trussville. Hampton inn Irondale is the absolute worst

Decent hotel with lots of warts. Lobby and hallways are clean. Newer carpet in rooms. Plumbing, appliances, wifi, cable all work. Yet, the hotel looks tired. Rusty desk lamp with iffy outlets, rusty wall sconces, rusty shower doors, furniture with worn wood finishes, badly cracked floor tiles in the elevator, breakfast area chairs with badly worn upholstery. Left over wiring piled under the sleeping room desk from abandoned internet cables and phones. It all hints of a property not doing well. For now it's mostly OK. The future is uncertain. Buyer beware.

When we checked in, the front desk person was extremely efficient. It took maybe a minute. We turned down our refrigerator because it was not cool and when we returned, it was still warm. We contacted the front desk clerk and she changed us to a room with a working fridge. Breakfast was good. I asked the front desk clerk for restaurant recommendations. They had a printed copy of local restaurants and she went through it highlighting restaurants they had personally experienced. We tried one of her highly recommended restaurants - Saw's Juke Joint - and it was amazing. We had a very memorable dinner there. The room was comfortable, but some of the furniture was worn. It was also pretty clean. The pool was closed for cleaning both days we were there, but we were not planning to swim. The room was quiet. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Don't believe the photos posted by this "hotel". It is an overpriced dump! Filthy carpets, cracked tiles, broken furniture. The key card wouldn't work. Staff failed to replenish breakfast items and no coffee available. #Hilton, this place is giving the brand a bad name.

Hotel in kind of a sketchy area. Seems it was updated a few years back but could use another refresh. Hallway carpets need replaced. Room was clean but shades were a little damaged. I guess your typical hotel near an airport. Only stayed one night, if I would have needed to stay longer I would have relocated.
