During my check in at the reception counter, I was charged with 100£ deposit. Never in my life I had been charged with such amount of deposit and its not even three stars…. Right after its been charged the receptionist told me I had to walk another 7 mins because the site is on maintenance. 😣 why would you still be on website then? I ended up going to lucky8 hotel. It was right round the corner of the station. The room looked a bit gloomy and had some smell. There is even a piece of hair on the bedsheet. Otherwise the place is like 7/10 and the receptionist were polite the day I checked in and checked out. i called Britannia Inn hotel and emailed the manager but there is no response still. Hope I could get my deposit back as I had not done any damage to the property at all.

Definitely don't book. Aside from mold, there are bed bugs and an incredible amount of blemishes in this hotel. This hotel needs a refurbishment and should not be offered here. The staff is nice, but that's no reason to lie here. Save your money and don't book through Trip either as they aren't much help.

**************Avoid at any cost **************** *************Extreamly Poor Hygiene ********* 1 Star - Unbearable Odor and Poor Customer Service Booking date 25/08/24 to 27/08/24 Cost :£351 I had an absolutely terrible experience at the Britannia Inn Hotel in Ilford. What was meant to be a comfortable stay turned into a nightmare due to an overpowering, nauseating smell permeating the entire room. Pros: - None that I can think of based on my experience Cons: - Unbearable, persistent odor in the room - Poor customer service and lack of problem-solving - Inadequate alternatives offered - Forced to leave late at night with my family - Refusal to offer any form of compensation Upon check-in at 2 PM, I immediately noticed a strong, unpleasant odor in our assigned room. I promptly reported this to the staff, who showed me another room - which, shockingly, had the exact same smell issue. Hoping it might improve, I aired out the room and left for several hours. Returning tired at around 9-10 PM, we found the stench just as strong. The front desk provided room spray, but its effect lasted mere minutes before the smell returned. Multiple attempts with the spray proved futile. When I requested a room without the odor issue, I was told none were available. The staff seemed indifferent to our plight and offered no solutions. With two children also suffering from the smell, we had no choice but to abandon our booking at 10:30 PM and find alternative accommodation. The hotel's refusal to offer any refund or compensation for this abysmal experience is the final straw. It shows a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and basic hospitality standards. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hotel to anyone. The combination of the intolerable smell, inadequate response from staff, and refusal to make amends makes this one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Future guests, consider yourself warned - you might end up on the street late at night rather than in a comfortable room.

Appartment hotel in a dark street, filthy and dirty rooms and lobby, too expensive for the bad service, several stoned and drunken people inside and outside. Not a nice place to be, not a nice area around. Several minutes walk to Ilford Lane but don't stay here.

The worst ‘hotel’ I have ever stayed in, by far. I have no idea how the hotel has the reviews it does, the hotel is exceptionally bad. Do not stay here. From what I can work out and what the receptionist told me, the hotel is part of a group of 9 hotels. When booking you can be out in any depending on availability, which in itself is terrible. The reviews I can only assume are for the other hotels (one of them next door) and not the Britannia inn that I stayed in. I booked a double room with breakfast for 1 night for work. I ended up with a single room and when I arrived I was told that the Britannia inn doesn’t have facilities for food so no breakfast will be provided. I assume the facilities part of the advertising is one of the other hotels…. On arrival the hotel is dirty, the lobby and the hallway carpet is disgusting. The receptionist was just about helpful in broken English, hence why the confusion over the room and breakfast wasn’t resolved. The hotel is mostly full of residents with people arriving and leaving at all times throughout the night. I woke in the night to people eating outside my door in the hallway, I wish I was joking. Constantly, kids were running around the hallways late at night and people shouting on the phone meant I didn’t sleep. The walls are paper thin which only exacerbates the issue. The room was gross with stained carpets, chair and mattress. The shower tray had bits in it. The mattress was springy so I was basically laying on the bed base. Overall, absolutely terrible and the worst experience I’ve had staying in a hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me. Do not book here.

Je ne conseil pas à fuir ! Le petit déjeuner immonde ! La chambre je sais pas quoi dire.. un calvaire de dormir dans des lits avec les ressorts qui sortent du lit je suis partie avec le dos coincé ayant déjà des problèmes importants ! Parlons de l'odeur immonde sale ect... je ne recommande pas je pense qu'il faut vraiment revoir les locaux entièrement . La personne de l'accueil voyant mon mécontentement me propose de revenir avec une réduction pour la prochaine fois !! Mais jamais de la vie même en me.payant!! Cela a gâché nos 3 jours je voulais partir mais ne trouvant pas ailleurs et pas de remboursement possible.

I booked this hotel to go in November as I was having surgery in London and this is a stop over to recover before travelling the next day, within an hour of booking the hospital cancelled my appointment but hotel refused to cancel my booking so I now have a room that is paid for but unable to use
