We (family of 5 – kids aged 18, 15 and 11) visited for 5 days just as the ski season opened in December 2023. We were on a Luxury Escapes 5 night/4 day ski lift package. We chose Lotte Arai as we heard it was an excellent place for beginners. Unfortunately our experience was not positive. Luxury Escapes were not transparent at the time of booking that we were right on the cusp of season opening, which would have influenced our booking decision. Weather was not favourable and unfortunately the snow was not sufficient to fully open on 15/12 as planned (not LE or Lotte Arai's fault of course). This coupled with a broken chair lift (which Lotte Arai did not disclose - we only discovered when we arrived) and another chair lift that couldn't run due to lack of staff, meant our ski options (as beginners) were limited to one 350m run. 4 days of limited ski options at top $ was incredibly disappointing and no way reflective of the quality experiences we had with LE previously. We stayed in a lovely room in the Lodge part of Lotte Arai resort. Spacious comfortable room, somewhat tired bathroom. The resort is a hodgepodge of different buildings that connect only on different floors (it seems the property has grown organically over 30+ years with no real thought to full integration). Navigating from the Lodge to breakfast and the onsen took some planning, especially as one part was almost outdoors, in freezing conditions. Meals were at the buffet styled Plate restaurant in Lotte Arai Hotel (a full 700m walk involving a lift ride, outside (albeit undercover) walk and flight of stairs from our room) which was more akin to 3/3.5 star standard. On the plus side the bus transfer to and from Joetsu-Myoko train station was great; we really enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Japanese restaurant Asahi and the outside onsen was lovely. The separately run Myoko Snowsports school is exceptional and the resort's ski hire enterprise rents quality gear. Plus our step count walking around the various buildings was high! Lotte Arai staff were warm and tried to help best they could. But truthfully for a resort claiming to be 5 star, staff were not as polished or proficient, as elsewhere on our Japan trip. Communication in advance to organise meals etc. was difficult - often multiple days' wait for response and sometimes no response at all. We did speak to the Manager on duty on our last day to offer feedback. He was pleasant and listened. He offered a bottle of wine and free access to swimming pool and indoor climbing wall. Luxury Escapes similarly listened to our concerns and offered a $300 voucher for next booking. On a $4.7k booking it felt more symbolic than significant. All in all the most disappointing days of our holiday. We spent A$6k incl. ski gear on a ”special deal” - it was by far the worst value on a 3.5 week holiday trekking around Japan.

I stayed at the Route Inn Hotel everywhere, but it was old from what to what. The key to the room was a key hole key that was not auto locked, and there was no outlet to charge the bed, and the alarm clock was also at the desk and was inconvenient. The public bath was narrow and the dressing room was so narrow that it became dense. The salvation was usually clean and clean. It was very good that the next door was a convenience store.

We used it for 8,000 yen per night using the prefectural campaign. Myoko's own coupon is given 2,000 yen per person and is real 6,000 yen. The facilities are renovated, but they are quite clean. The children's play room is also large and seems to be good for children. The library space was fashionable, and the wellness of the lime resort was realized. The rooms are very relaxing and the building is quite good. The quality of the hot spring was also good with the flat area of the pond. Shampoos are also good quality and are neat. The meal was delicious and the main style was available for dinner, but there are many volumes and it seems to be a bit painful for older people. It is a nice hotel even if it is deducted. This time, there is no complaint because it is 6000 yen for two meals per night. However, if it is usually sold at 15,000 yen 〜, there is a little high feeling. It seems that it will repeat if it can be easily used by the family at about 10,000 yen. You can recommend it as a myoko area.

Had a good experience in the hotel -- we snowboarded during our stay and the room was large enough to unpack our gear and get out quick! The drying area was near the exit, so we didn't have to go through unnecessary flights of stairs. The room isn't the most well-maintained room, but I usually get allergic to tatami mat dust and I didn't get a single allergic reaction during my stay. Slept like a log. Also the front desk was amazing -- Nim, thank you! The owner also personally escorted our car to safety as we stupidly used a non-4wd to a ski resort. Thanks Regan. The hotel isn't perfect -- it needs a bit more polish, but a few tweaks like improving the wifi signal and hiring more service-oriented personnel would improve the hotel by leaps and bounds.

Basically, it is better not to expect to see HP. The room was an ordinary Japanese room, so it was beautiful without problems. The room bath is small and old. → Is there a hot spring? The hot spring is very large. It is a pity that the sauna was closed, but it is only possible in the world. I expected an open-air bath, but the hot water is cold over the wet. It was cold and could not enter because it was lined up with a hot water pool. I don't think the temperature management is properly. In addition, the inner bath ↔︎ the open-air bath passage is frozen and dangerous. This is really dangerous. I think it's bad for children or older people. The rice is not a plan but a set menu. It is a so-called decided menu, and it feels luxurious when it is written with a pot, rice, baked goods, fried goods, dessert, but it is not very delicious. I think the private inn around it is delicious. By the way, breakfast is not even delicious in the set menu. I want you to choose to eat with Viking. I'm sorry to leave this, so it's good with rice and natto. Serviceally, rice is carried, and this is this (e.g. fish)? Young staff, older staff, kitchen charge? No one can answer the staff. I think there are customers who don't ask this hand? I think that's not the kind of place that you can choose yukata, or you're lending DVDs in Ghibli. And I thought it was cheap to swallow the above. The genre is rich and fun, so I will come to Akakura again, but I wonder if I will change the inn.

First of all, the employee who received the phone at the time of booking does not say his name. Because it was scheduled to make a reservation for three nights, it was supposed to unify the room for two nights and the room for one night booked by the same palace building so that the room was not moved. We were prepared a completely different rank room at check-in on the first day. And I told the employee that the room was different, but I was told to talk to the front desk tomorrow morning because I was a night policeman. The skiing tools and the cardboard that I sent were also miscellaneously placed on other people's luggage, and I couldn't find it easily. Although it was a customer's luggage, I didn't take over to the night police. I finally had to carry my luggage, and I carried it by myself in a truck (it would be impossible to do with the corona). Finally moved the room. But not the Palace Museum, the fifth floor of the main building. And there is no word of apology. The bath is good, but the cleaning person should go out and replace it, but the drain lid is full of hair. The room after moving is said to be, the fixtures are three places, the interior is broken, the curtains are severe and the stains are large, and the towel hanger is broken and broken The shower in the room has only wet almost cold hot water, hanging futons and sheets with stains. I couldn't get satisfaction that was very good for the price. The meal was good in volume and taste. However, if it was not suitable for one item, and it was left with the couple and put it at the end so that it was easy to get down, it was returned to the oshiki (Japanese ranchon mat) to the person who brought the dessert. It is the first time that the thing placed at the edge of the table was returned to the middle of the bed.Anger I think that if management is difficult, I should put my heart into the education of employees. On the morning of the first night, during the breakfast, the lady and the owner saw a greeting, but it seemed to be whipped to the old body and played a role, and I couldn't say the dissatisfaction that I stayed overnight in a different room. In addition, the front desk staff cannot hit the cash register when buying souvenirs, and cannot try to hit the cash register without inserting the key of the cash register. The end of the day to call a young person and wait for a few minutes. And the younger one who replaced me was apologizing after hitting the register. The front desk or manager who waited for you? I don't say ”I've been waiting for you and I'll respond to the replacement.” When I booked a family bath, I found that the source was long, but it was hot, and the hot water of the bathtub was spilled out until the waist hurts with the washbasin, and it was not good to put it in the shower water. It's terrible, although there is a time limit. If you say that heat, if you were in zabun, you were burning. Absolutely next time, I will make a different inn. Even if there was this inn until next time

We couldn’t get into an onsen after our ski day at Seki so we stopped by this place down the road. The onsen is on the third floor of a big Japanese hotel at a family ski resort. The onsen was big and had everything you needed. 500 yen plus extra for a towel. Everything was clean and spick. The bath looks out on the ski field. It was terrific and I’d definitely come here again.

My family of 5 stayed here for one night. First, when I arrived at the inn, I was warmly welcomed. I was shown to my room, and when I told her I would like to know when the private bath was available, she said she would call the room to confirm. However, no matter how long I waited, the phone did not come, so I gave up and took a bath in the regular public bath. Even though I had planned to reserve a private bath for Ji****ba's room when I made the reservation, there was no confirmation at the time of reception at the beginning, and when I asked about it in the evening, I was told that there were no more free times. It was very disappointing. The meal was very filling, and the salt-grilled sea bream was the best. It was a dish with a ratio of about 8:2 between mountain and sea food. The chestnut rice came out first and I was so full that I regretted not eating the last sukiyaki, so I regretted not eating the rice while I was eating. Thank you for the meal. However, let me say one thing: I was a little surprised that the dinner menu for elementary school students was a children's lunch. Fried shrimp, fried chicken, hamburger, miso soup, and rice. The price is quite reasonable for elementary school students, so I thought that a menu with fewer items would be more of a treat for adults. The hot spring water was very hot as it was summer. It was so hot that I couldn't stay in it, but the quality of the spring water was so good that my skin became smooth. It looks like winter will be a little warmer. It was quiet and comfortable at night. When I checked out, I was told that the Niigata Discount would be applied, but I was not given enough explanation that I would have to cancel all the online payments I had made and pay on-site, so I canceled my online reservation. I was suddenly told that I would like to process the payment and repay it in cash, but since I usually use cards and electronic money, I happened to have cash on hand this time, but since the amount was the amount, I wondered if it would be enough. I was so excited. I tried to pay by card on the spot, but was told that only MasterCard could be used. Please be careful if you want to pay by card. Overall, I was satisfied with the inn, but there were a lot of things that were noticeable, and I was particularly not happy with the final checkout, so I gave it 3 stars.
Summer is a perfect escape from the heat, while winter brings the paradise of powder snow.

PPhoenix WongA hotel near Yan Hot Spring,
In winter, the snow only reaches Golden Soup.
The hotel is full of Japanese hot spring hotel style
The hot spring is very comfortable, but in winter the open-air bath only sees a wall of snow.
There are 24-hour vending machines and microwaves
The most heart-warming day was driving relatively late
The boss lady was very concerned and looked relieved when she saw me coming.
Very attentive reception,
She also speaks good English, so even if she’s not familiar with Japanese, she doesn’t have to worry about communication difficulties.
Please note that it will be closed at night. If you come home late at night, please let the hostess know.
In addition, there is no parking space in the store. Your car must be parked in the bus station parking lot more than 100 meters away. There is no elevator, so be careful when carrying large luggage.
I stayed in a corner room, Twin, for three nights. It had a nice view and was compact. Most refrigerators were in boxes, but this one was just used as a bedside table. It was an effective use of space. The hot bath was also nice. The food was excellent, although it was a bit strong for those who like light flavors. It was an old building so it wasn't barrier-free, but the owner's hospitality made it a comfortable stay.
AAnonymous UserHotel has good heating so perfect for winter stay. Nice fireplace area and nice holding area before stepping out into the cold. The hotel is down a hill from the main thoroughfare. A bit slippery downhill when it becomes icy. Run like a hotel so maybe a bit cold compared to a bed and breakfast. Onsen bath seems a bit dirty with things floating in there compared to other hotels we stayed at. We needed to move to another hotel which is 2km away and the guy offered to drive us there for 2000 yen! Just 1 luggage each and no skis. So on the whole just cold. Breakfast was 1000 yen seemed simple so we skipped and opted to eat in town instead. Probably won't stay there again.
GGuest UserI was surprised because there is only wifi near the front desk, but it was good to be able to cut off my smartphone. Due to the deep snow, the truck got addicted to the inn and the return was late.
AansingiftThis chain hotel has hot spring baths. Located at the high-speed intersection. There are many restaurants around. There is also a seafood market. The canteen next to the hotel has a large portion and a large bowl of noodles is enough for two people. The room size is a bit small, but there are everything that should be available, and the price is fairly affordable. The breakfast was good. Parking is free.
