"Huge thanks to Melody and Suki at the front desk! My friends were visiting Shanghai, so I booked this place, and it was my first hostel experience – much better than I expected! The hot water system seems better than typical hotels; you won't run out after a long shower. The hairdryer is perfect for girls, with strong airflow. Plus, they even have hand soap, which is a fantastic little detail! All the girls staying here are super gentle, quiet, and don't disturb anyone. 🥹 There's absolutely no noise day or night; everyone uses their phones silently, and at night, people move carefully, queuing quietly for showers. They even offer occasional thoughtful tips, and the restrooms always smell fresh. It's great value for money and very close to the city center. I'd definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Shanghai!"

"Extremely satisfied with my hostel stay! The location is absolutely perfect, right next to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, making it super convenient for shopping and sightseeing. You can walk to all the major commercial areas without any hassle. The room conditions far exceeded my expectations; it had its own window, providing great natural light and ventilation, so there was no unpleasant odor inside. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was tidy, and items were neatly arranged, making for a very comfortable stay. My dorm mates were all very friendly, and we got along well, creating a great atmosphere. I especially want to praise the two ladies at the front desk – their attitude was incredibly gentle and enthusiastic. They patiently answered questions about directions and lent out items, and were always quick to help with any needs, showing great thoughtfulness and care. This place offers excellent value for money, perfect for both solo travelers and groups. I'll definitely choose this hostel again next time I'm in Shanghai. I truly recommend it to everyone!"

Hotel near Yu Garden Area,Shanghai
Located in the heart of Shanghai, at 885 Renmin Road, Huangpu District, on the second floor of Huaixi Zhonghua Building, Zhexi Changqiu Youth Hostel is an ideal haven for backpackers and young travelers. With a focus on ultra-high costeffectiveness, it offers a variety of different multi-bed rooms to choose from, with an average cost per person that is only one-third of hotels in the same area, you to explore Shanghai on a smaller budget. The hostel's charm lies in its strong social atmosphere - travelers from all over the world often gather around the wooden long table the public rest area, sharing travel stories, dining together, and teaming up to visit attractions. It's a daily occurrence. We also regularly organize fun board games, card, and other themed activities to help you quickly make like-minded friends. The location is truly unique: just a 7-minute walk to the Shanghai Great World, a10-minute walk to the City God Temple Tourist Area, and a 15-minute stroll to the Yu Garden. It takes only a 10-minute bike to reach popular landmarks such as the Bund and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, and there are five bus routes within a 300-meter radius, easily connecting you the rest of the city. The hostel's amenities are simple yet thoughtful: 24-hour hot water supply, separate storage lockers, and a self-service room meet the essential needs of your journey. There are public restrooms and showers that are regularly cleaned to ensure comfort and hygiene. The front desk staff can also provide you with information such as attraction recommendations and traffic guidance, making your trip more in-depth. Here, you gain more than just a bed; you gain a city memory full of life a group of like-minded friends.

"Overall, the experience was just okay, but for 100 yuan near the Bund, the price is fair given the location. The basic room facilities were decent, and the convenient location is definitely its biggest advantage – it's super easy to get around and visit attractions. However, the hygiene details were noticeably poor; the pillows and mattress had obvious stains and felt quite unclean, which made it hard to sleep comfortably. Other than that, the soundproofing and room size were acceptable, with no major complaints. If you don't have high expectations for accommodation and just prioritize value for money and a convenient location, it's barely acceptable. But if cleanliness and comfort are important to you, the shortcomings at this price point are quite prominent."

"They provide a set of three bed linens (pillowcase, sheet, and duvet cover), and each new guest gets fresh ones, which a staff member will help you put on. There's a small, lockable locker that requires a card swipe to open, perfect for storing clothes. You can also store luggage in the space next to the bed or by the door. I didn't have much stuff, just one suitcase and a backpack. I put my toiletries on the side of the stairs, valuables like my tablet in the locker, and my used clothes and backpack on top of my suitcase."

The environment here is great, really pleasant and fragrant. It's also very quiet at night, not noisy at all – I even worried my own turning over might disturb others, haha. Although the bathrooms are shared, they're kept very clean, and the other guests are generally very considerate. The lobby has a nice atmosphere with many people working, which feels harmonious. The transportation is also very convenient. The staff at the front desk, both the gentlemen and ladies, have excellent service attitudes. They even upgraded my room for free! As soon as I saw the new room, I immediately extended my stay. Highly recommend!

Arrived late at night near the Bund, completely exhausted and dragging my luggage, but the 24-hour front desk still greeted me kindly. When checking in, they thoughtfully reminded me about the locker and laundry room locations. The hallways were clean and odorless, and the bed was soft and warm. The cleaning staff tidied the restrooms multiple times a day, and there was 24-hour hot water available on demand. In my free time, I enjoyed chatting about travel stories in the common area, and the hosts were genuinely engaging. It's an affordable stay, yet full of thoughtful touches – a stable and healing little corner even when you're far from home.

The front desk staff are very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The hostel has a good atmosphere; you can sit and chat or relax in the lobby, which is perfect for solo travelers. The bunk beds have curtains, offering decent privacy, and there are sockets and a small light by the bed – everything you need is there. For this price in Shanghai, it's really excellent value for money. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next visit.

I specifically chose this hostel to experience the old Shikumen lane houses. It's tucked away deep in a bustling alley, and you have to navigate through winding old streets and traditional iron gates to get in. Stepping inside, you're immediately immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of old Shanghai, a delightful surprise for its tranquil location amidst the hustle and bustle. The renovated old house retains its vintage wooden windows and old floor tiles, and the courtyard is filled with greenery. I woke up to the aroma of breakfast stalls from the lane each morning, and in the evenings, I enjoyed the breeze in the courtyard, fully experiencing local life. The beds come with blackout curtains, individual reading lights, and charging ports. Storage lockers are complete, and the bedding is changed daily, fresh and odorless. The bathrooms are cleaned in sections, with 24-hour hot water. The public living area is spacious, with bookshelves, board games, a microwave, and a self-service washing machine – full of thoughtful details. The owner and staff are warm and genuine, proactively sharing local hidden gems for food and off-the-beaten-path routes, helping me avoid tourist traps. Shopping districts and the subway are within walking distance, and there are old-school pastry shops all around. The value for money is absolutely amazing. It's my top choice for solo travelers and students. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai!

I've stayed here for quite a while, and the staff are all diligent, responsible, and have excellent service attitudes, comparable to five-star service, with prompt responses. Some of the facilities are a bit old, but the sanitation is well-maintained; you wouldn't guess it's an old establishment. It's clear why it's been around for so long. Overall, it offers great value for money, and it's very convenient for business travel. If you need to take the subway, it's about an 8-10 minute walk.

Booked this hotel last minute, cause my favorite hotel is closing down business this month and i wanted something nearer cause I’m well versed with the surrounding areas, 1: the first red flag is the reception, mail and deliveries are all piled up and falling off shelves, it’s so dirty and humid, it looks like a hoarder’s poach, they’re no waiting chairs, so you’ll stand while they process the guests that came before you until it’s your turn !! The receptionists are very nice and helpful . 2; no room housekeeping ( you’ll have to ask for someone to come take the rubbish and give you towels or change your bedding. 3: THE FILTH!!! The filth is on level 1000/100 the grime made it hard for me to shower with my eyes open, I’m not sure if the place has a manager and if they care about the the wellbeing of the clients , because from what i saw, the cleaners don’t even bother, the floor had food stains from i think when they just opened, the sink🤮 the bathroom ( that one corner gave me the hibbigibeis) the toilet seat was broken , everything in the bathroom was broken and dirty , then my charger fell in the space which is between the bathroom glass and the bed, got down to retrieve it and i decided it was best to just a get a new charger instead. The place if cleaned and cared for would be an amazing hotel apartment, it has great amenities , a washing machine a fridge and a drying rack if you upgrade to a bigger room, a kitchenette that would be great if you are interested in cooking and staying longer and it’ has an Aldi downstairs, a gym and lots of other great places surrounding it . I really hope the owners would read this and take it into consideration and carry out serious supervision or else their property will lose value, The hygiene of the hotel does not only ensure the health and wellness of the visitors who sleep in those walls but also keeps the property value up. Dirt And filth only brings it down and puts the health of others at risk . I really hope they change standards.
