The location is not in the bustling Waikiki. It is a very new hotel. I checked in directly at the hotel at 11 o'clock. I was also upgraded to a side sea view room where I could watch the sea from my bed. The room was very clean and cleaned every day. There were two 1.5 large beds and a washlet toilet. There was no balcony but the window door could be opened for ventilation, which was very comfortable. The surrounding environment was also very good. There was Walmart and Target downstairs. It was within five minutes to walk to Ala Moana Center and the beach. It was a 10-minute walk to the bus station to the Polynesian Center. It took more than ten minutes to get to Waikiki from the bus station downstairs. The hotel also had a free shuttle bus to the Waikiki beach. The free sightseeing buses of JAL and ANA were all in the AlaMoana parking lot. The location and transportation were really great. It was also the most comfortable accommodation in Hawaii.

The hotel is an affordable price with simple and clean environment. The room looks new and tidy which make me pick for my four nights stay. More importantly they offer cheap parking charge compared to other hotels in Waikiki. There are two bottle of water to be provided each day and you can redeem for free in front desk which is appreciated, you can also take the refilling water in lobby. Microwave is provided in each room too.

This resort is excellent with three swimming pool and a large Lagoom and only walking distance to the beach. You can find everything you need in this resort and there are ABC stores inside and we can buy all our souvenirs very easy. I will strongly recommend this hotel to my friend. Just one things that there is no bottle water provided and no boiling machine and you need to buy your bottle water on your own.

So....got a great rate on Travelzoo voucher for 4 nights. This hotel has been remodeled and is still in process of completing some work in common areas. Starbucks opened when I was there, and Monkeypod will open in the future. Staff was fabulous! No complaints there. I was able to check in early and got a partial ocean view on floor 11. Room was spotless. My only complaint, and it's a big one for me, is the soundproofing. I should say lack of it! Doors are HEAVY and each open and shut on the floor nearby is a shock to the sleeper. Also, the wind whistled and the band and traffic comes right in through slider to balcony. The band stops at 9, so that was no problem, and very nice. But....I hated the door slams and other interior noises. If you are a light sleeper, I don't think you will enjoy yourself. I wore ear plugs. Location is superb! It really can't be beat. Pool is OK. The jacuzzi was kind of icky. One being closed the entire time, the other kind of grey and the one attached to the pool generally full of kids. No jacuzzi for me. Towels and loungers were readily available. No problems there. We did have a problem at restaurant/ bar with what we think was bad turkey or mayo on a club. My grandson and I got sick within a couple hours. Unfortunately for the maintenance staff there was some cleaning up to do in the bathroom. The staff responded immediately and were so nice about it. I cannot thank them enough. However, when I reported this to the restaurant manager in the morning I was not totally happy with his response. All in all, I would stay there again for what I paid for it.

We are just back from our stay at the Embassy Suites and recommend it for larger families. Having two rooms gives everyone invaluable space. Rooms are nice and tidy. Location is excellent. We were lucky to get the pool area for 2 days before it shut down for re-tiling … going across the road was inconvenient but our kids are older so it wasn’t too bad. The beach it’s near is Ft. Derussey which is really nice and not as busy as Waikiki Beach. It’s right in the middle of everything when it comes to shopping and eating and the complimentary breakfast is good. I would stay here again. Our room was on the 7th Floor of the Hula Tower and even though we didn’t request it we had an amazing clear view to the water (looking to the right) which was a nice surprise.

Don’t expect much apart from the location.
They should not call their kids paddling pool as a swimming pool, charging resort fee for just providing chairs and umbrella for you to take them all the way, 10mins of walk to a public beach.

A friend found this hidden gem for us. At 1st glance you'd think oh no lol. We stayed in a 8 bed all female dorm with air conditioning that worked and fans. There were 5 of us for 5 nights and cost us $190usd each. We were all 50+ yrs old. We were lucky enough not to have anyone else join us. Brooke was great at check in, very patient as we were checked in 1 at a time. You're given clean sheets/pillowcase and towel. We got to our room and unfortunately discovered there was rubbish underneath the beds, weren't very impressed with that and one of our friends mentioned this and whilst we were out having lunch Dan was in cleaning the whole room, very impressed. We also got an apology from the manager explaining there was a miscommunication of cleaning the room. The room had 8 individual lockers for valuables only but you have to buy a padlock for them. Our dorm had mini fridge, microwave, elements plus ensuite with shower in a bath and toilet. Unfortunately the toilet didn't always flush straight away but we sussed it out. The security was great, opened the door with GOKI app on phone. Parking is terrible though we had to park sometimes up to 1km for free parking or you can park in the Honolulu Zoo across the road for $1.50 per hour for maximum 4hrs. One of the best parts about the location is a 5min walk to the BEACH. Hostel provides tubes, chairs to take down which we used a few times, we saw sunrises and sunsets just beautiful. 2nd best thing is the amazing young staff, nothing a bother whatsoever so great to see. So overall would us over 50/60yr olds stay here again? 💯 You have to think smarter, and from NZ our dollar was 56c in USD. We made it work, would highly recommend 👌 and spent our accommodation savings at ROSS stores 😁

Our stay at The Kahala started off a little disappointing as they didn’t have 2 bed rooms available. Luckily, they were able to quickly get a very comfortable rollaway bed to our room. The rest of our stay was nothing short of perfect. The resort is beautiful and all the amenities in the enormous room were fantastic. The scenic view room overlooks the golf course and was perfect for watching the sunrise. You can see a little bit of the ocean from the lanai if you have one. The beach is very open and not too crowded, even with the hotel saying they were fully booked. We loved that the water was waist-deep for several yards and no waves due to the reef. The restaurants were delicious and for those who are gluten-free, the chef took special care to show which items were safe during buffet times. The resort is beautiful and think the price was reasonable for what you get. It’s starting to show a little wear, but overall it’s very well taken care of and priced accordingly. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m on Oahu!

GGuest UserBooked this in 2019 for our 20th anniversary and had to cancel due to COVID and they said they would honor my booked rate for the next year. Had to cancel again and they honored my price for 2022! I was impressed with that. Hotel is in a great location-you can play in the ocean and see Diamond Head and we were lucky enough to spot two sea turtles. (one was a baby) You can walk to International Market Place, Al Moana shopping center, and Beach Walk Street with many good Restaurants. and Lewers Street. Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center down the street also. We didn't get a rental car and took an uber 4 times and had several tours booked where you get picked up and dropped off. Much cheaper than a rental car and having to pay $50 a night just to park the rental car at the hotel. Hotel was in definite need of a remodel. Was told would have a higher level room and put on first floor. We requested to move next day. Moved to 9th floor. Room was clean, hotel was clean, restaurant was very clean. People were friendly. Lots to do on Oahu. A lot of people here.
ZzaddyThe Sheraton Waikiki has the best location. It’s minutes away from a big outlet mall with many food options and has direct access to the beach. The rooms are updated and modern and you have great views of Diamond Head. Many tour groups also depart from the bus depot next to the hotel entrance so that’s also very convenient.
LLilyZhangCross the road, you will get to a very friendly beach. New swimmers can learn how to swim in the ocean. Although many people there, the beach is still the best part that I've tried in Waikiki (compared with Sunset and Ala Moana), less rocks, easy to walk in the water.
Hotel service is very efficient, as well as many kinds of activities (mostly on weekdays).
Due to its too near the luxury row, it will be a little bit noisy if you stay lower level.
Even the city view is good to see mountains.
JJUANJapanese hotel, we arrived late and helped me upgrade to the suite. The house is large enough to cook. There is a swimming pool. At night the water is a bit cold. You can soak in the heated swimming pool. When booking, it is stated that there is no resort fee. Late in Hawaii is very cheap. After we check out, we can see that the price has risen to more than 1,000 a night.
GGuest UserThis location is the best. 1 block from the beach, within walking distance to anything you want in Waikiki. The lobby is an open, grand lobby. Hotel employees are extremely friendly and helpful. I was very concerned about the hotel when I got off the elevator on the 14th floor. The hallways are dated and uninviting. However, upon entering the room I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, plenty spacious for a solo traveler (and would be acceptable for 2 travelers), and had a great view of the ocean. The continental breakfast offered fruit, pastries, boiled eggs, cereal, toast, and waffles. The best part of the stay was Leo at the bell desk. He was extremely friendly, and provided excellent service (he even noticed that I dropped my apple watch cover and held it for me until my return later that day). Be sure to get to know Leo, and don't forget to tip your service providers!
GGuest UserUhhhhh..... We stayed in this hotel because our flight got in late and we needed a place close to the airport to crash for one night. This hotel fits that purpose well. That said, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for any other situation other than the one I just described. They were pumping sewage right outside of our door the morning we woke up. Also, our room key didn't work the morning we were checking out. The only other positive of this hotel is that it is within walking distance of THE BEST little food place we came across on our whole trip: Joe's Grill Express. We cannot wait to come back so we can visit Joe's again.
GGuest UserThis review has to do solely with the staff which is why I rated them 5. A separate response regarding the hotel itself will be posted at a later date. I specifically want to say that the staff over all were amazing. Even when there seemed to be chaos with the amount of people coming and going they were always helpful and went out their way to accommodate and assist me. If you decide to stay here, REQUEST MRS JOSIE FOR YOUR ROOM SERVICE!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. I came here for a surgical procedure that put me in a sling with very little mobility. I had meal prepped all of my stuff in preparation for the recovery but she was the only room service staff (mind you I had 3 different clean my room) that washed my dishes because she saw me in my sling. Multiple times the other employees cleaning my room saw me in a sling unable to move my arm yet they never washed them. Mrs Josie was the only one who did. Something so small but also so kind. I requested her clean my room for the duration of my stay and she was amazing. Again, I will have another post regarding the hotel itself but unfortunately I don’t have enough time because it’ll be a long one. Again, The staff is amazing overall.
GGuest UserThere is a main building and an annex, but the annex is really bad, and if you stay in the main building, the cost-effectiveness is really good! I stayed for 3 nights and stayed in the annex on the first day and was so depressed that I paid extra money to upgrade my room to the main building, and I was very satisfied! And it's very noisy because it's a downtown area, so take that into consideration! This is a picture of the bathroom when I stayed in the annex, but there was no ventilation and no lighting in the shower cubicle.. It was poor. Compare it with the pictures of the main building!
GGuest UserFor someone wanting to experience Waikiki on a budget it’s a great price! Perfect location right across the street from the ocean and the beach! It’s only 2 min walk to the zoo and the Waikiki trolly bus stop is less then a block away and it’s only $5 a day to take. This hotel is perfect for convenience and location!! The bed isn’t the most comfortable and there are nicer and cleaner hotels but your going to pay a-lot more for that. This was perfect for a short few day trip I took! I’ll definitely book there again! Also their parking lot is not very big so if your getting a rental car I would call them first to confirm they have a spot available for your car to be parked if they do it’s only $30 a night which is also a great price! But that was sold out the whole time I was there. I didn’t need it because I didn’t have a rental car. But I could see that being an issue if you have a rental car.
GGuest UserWe had 4 nights at the Waikiki Monarch and found it to be a strange experience. We booked it through Booking.com and stayed in apartment 2703A. On the positive side, our apartment had an amazing view of Waikiki, right out to the ocean, as well as along the canal – very inspiring! The location also was very good, situated on the western end of Wikiki. It was only a 10min walk to the beach and about 10min over to Ala Moana Mall and beach park. There was a good internet-enabled TV with about every channel and streaming service you could want – really a nice setup. On the negative side, the apartment was not very well cleaned upon our arrival, especially the floor. A couple of the dining chairs and the couch were covered in stains and were downright disgusting. The apartment was lacking a few basics, such as bedside cabinets and dressers/drawers for storing clothes. I had to lay out all my clothes on the floor along the hallway wall. We also felt the lighting was quite dim in the evenings. The kitchen was small and outfitted with only the basics. The kitchen faucet was loose and about ready to fall off – a little basic maintenance would’ve been nice. Another thing that was odd was that there was no reception or other onsite staff which could be called on if required. We were told to collect our key from a little lock box. We arrived at around 1pm, and since we weren’t allowed to check in until the very late hour of 4pm, we asked if we could store our bags and were told we actually had to pay for bag storage ($5/bag) for the 3 hours. It’s the first time we’ve ever had the experience of having to pay for bag storage at the hotel while waiting for check-in! Not impressed! In any case, we won’t be staying here anytime soon. Not recommended – there are so many far better places to stay in Waikiki. Don’t make the mistake we did.
