Overall not bad, but on the edge of Columbus

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at the TownePlace Suites in Dublin, Ohio, from August 14-18, 2024. As a loyal Marriott customer who frequently stays at your properties, particularly in the Columbus area due to my daughter attending Ohio State University, I was very dissatisfied with the quality of service and accommodations provided during this visit. I reserved a one-bedroom suite with a king-size bed and a sofa bed. However, the sofa bed consisted merely of lying directly on the sofa itself, which is far from acceptable. I expected a proper pull-out sofa bed, as advertised, but this was not the case. Upon arrival, I noticed that the LVP flooring in our initial room was sticky, which was very unpleasant and added to my dissatisfaction. Additionally, the cleanliness of the hotel was subpar. The carpets in the hallways were consistently dirty, with debris present throughout our stay. We were primarily on the 4th floor, and later the 5th floor, and both were similarly unkempt. This lack of cleanliness is concerning and does not reflect the standards I have come to expect from Marriott properties. We had three separate reservations during our stay. We paid for an additional room for one night for our daughters and extended our stay by switching rooms, but the issues were consistent across each experience. At breakfast, there was only one person managing the area, resulting in frequent shortages of essential items. On Saturday, I had to request forks, sausage, waffle mix, and coffee cups, as many were missing or depleted. On Sunday, there were no plates, eggs, or waffle mix available. The small cups provided for beverages were inadequate, holding only about 6-7 ounces. More staffing is clearly needed to maintain the breakfast area properly. Lastly, I found that the front desk staff were frequently absent, requiring guests to wait until they emerged from the back office. This was particularly frustrating as I had to approach the desk on multiple occasions. Normally, I stay at the Residence Inn on Olentangy River Road or the TownePlace Suites in Upper Arlington, and I have never experienced these issues. The management of this Dublin location could certainly learn a few things from the Upper Arlington property, which has always met and exceeded my expectations. Given that I plan to continue staying at Marriott properties during my visits to Ohio, I hope that you will address these concerns with the franchise owner of this location. My family and I were highly disappointed by our stay, and I believe that improvements must be made to bring this property in line with Marriott’s usual standards. This was a great stay for a great price. The only complaint that I have is that the housekeeping staff didn’t clean the room thoroughly before we checked in because I found an empty water bottle under the couch within an hour of our arrival. I Always prefer staying at Embassy Hotels because of the hot breakfast & evening reception. Of course because of COVID, there was only a grab & go breakfast plus the evening reception was nothing like the “pre-COVID” days. We were offered only 2 canned beers/piece plus a bag of chips. I understand why things are the way they are. I felt that this hotel was definitely on top of providing sanitation items like wipes at the elevators and hand sanitizer throughout the common areas. They tried to prevent families from gathering in common areas because they weren’t wearing masks but they still managed to do it. There were some very inconsiderate people there but that’s not a reflection on the hotel. I would definitely stay here again because the area was very quiet and the hotel was really nice.

This is a stunning newer property in a beautiful part of the city. We're big Bonvoy travelers and this is a top tier option, especially for the midwest. Awesome views of the river and bridges, great design & comfort and stylish rooms. We loved the rooftop bar - more views & fantastic craft cocktails. It's basically attached to the Exchange event center (via a really cute courtyard) which makes it perfect for events there. This was a work trip so we didn't do much additional exploring.

I am a super budget traveler and may not choose this hotel if I am paying or if I don't have a TA discount. This hotel is preferred by my company so we generally stay here. This is a really nice hotel. It is close to everything I need. Food, Nails, Ice Cream, a nice walk in the park over the bridge... It's perfect. The area is growing so there will be more things to do. Nevertheless, the bed is comfortable, the front desk staff is ALWAYS a joy to chat with. My very first visit to Dublin, I stayed here... the staff gave me the deets on where to go to eat (Local Cantina across the street), and more. They are fun and pleasant... so treat them right. They have no control over what Marriot's rules are. Every now and then there are some minor issues in the room... but things happen. Remember to report them so they can get fixed before you leave.

We had booked a stay at the Home2Suites on September 1, 2024 for an event in Columbus during the weekend of September 20, 2024. On September 18, 2024, I received an e-mail from ******* (our booking site) from Home2Suites saying that our reservation had been cancelled. That's it, with no explanation. I talk with ******* and they call the hotel and the hotel's explanation is that they no longer have rooms available. I had a reservation. I had already paid, yet they just cancel my reservation during an event weekend. I had to get a hotel at a greater cost in another city (Dayton), and will now drive to the event. I talked to the hotel directly and the very nice clerk (who was clearly not involved in this) said that their manager told them that the system allowed them to overbook so they cancelled our reservation and they apologized. Incompetent management, incompetent hotel, but very friendly desk clerk. Will never recommend or stay here or Home2Suites.

This Fairfield is our favorite place to go when we want a home away from home. We are very particular about cleanliness when staying at a hotel and we're not disappointed. The lobby was clean, floors spotless even in the elevators. Even the patio furniture was clean! Our suite made us feel at home immediately, no icky feelings as happens sometimes when traveling. The pool area was also clean and fresh and the pool water the perfect temperature. Great experience!

stayed two nights for a conference and it was my first time in Columbus. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and I felt very safe. The check in was smooth despite thousands of conference attendees in the area, I never had to wait long for an elevator, the bartenders were great conversationalists, the concierge was sweet and helpful, the bartender at the hotel bar was so nice, the bellman and the valets were very friendly and helpful. Brian was so kind when helping me with my car both times and even offered me a bottled water while I waited. I highly recommend staying here!

Currently staying at the hotel. Room is ok, bar is ok, haven't had a chance to eat at the restaurant yet but overheard others at the bar saying the food was good. Only reason I'm reviewing is to give a heads up. Even the grungiest Hampton Inn has a microwave in the room. I travel a lot for work and almost always stay at a Hilton brand, typically Double Trees. I was convinced by my client to switch to this hotel, wishing I hadn't. I work from the hotel all night and a microwave in the room is crucial. Wish I'd noticed before loading up on microwavable meals for those goofy hours. Called the front desk to see if there was one available (or if I just wasn't finding it) and was told there's 1 microwave for the entire hotel by the gift shop. This is a 9 story hotel. Gross. And I'm not excited about having to trek all the way down to the lobby and back with my food at 3am. Anyway, nice average mid-rang Hilton chain hotel but I guess remember to look at the room amenities before booking. Coming back to Columbus in the Fall for the second wave of this project, I'll be staying somewhere else.
