A great location, walkable into the town centre through a park across the road. This no frills hotel, really a B&B without an automatic breakfast was just what we needed for a night on our way to London. Good parking behind the hotel and a friendly receptionist. The bathroom was really rather grand for our room, a lovely surprise.

The room was very spacious with facilities for 3 adults. Just be careful of the 10pm checkin curfew as I was pleading for them to let them me in at 10.30pm even though I had sent in advance that I was going to be late! I was told they had tried to call me several times however my phone showed no record of being called. We had also called them at 9.50pm and left a voicemail on the answerphone. Luckily they allowed me to stay because I had two children with me but if not I suspect it would have been my bad luck! On this basis alone, I will probably not stay again.

Had a very awful experience here, the lady at the reception is incredibly rude and noise from the street was very disturbing and kept us up all night. Definitely wouldnt recommend for families - although theyre is a family room your children will be told off but the horrible lady for merely walking around. It is now our fault they have flimsy floorboards and any step could be heard. We arrived at 7:30pm and check out the next morning at 8am and those 12hrs couldnt go by faster

My experience of the rye hotel I would rate it very poor my room and bathroom was full of mound and damp I asked to change the room as I suffer from asthma was told no more rooms left check on booking dot com and they have rooms she is a liar as well. Would not recommend that place to anyone not even my dog. No stars from me would give it minus stars if I could

Astonished by some of the bad reviews. This place is straightforward, clean, tidy and warm. Superb value for money and friendly staff. Cannot fault it for the money. Would be completey confident rebooking to stay here.

Reception was unmanned requiring a phone call to summon someone to book you in. On check out you put the keys into a box in reception. Given a key we found our way to our room. We were in a triple bed room. The room was exactly what you would expect for a cheap budget hotel. The pillows were soft and flat. There looked like there were stains on the wall next to the bed. The shower was not that clean. The room was cold with minimum light. But for somewhere to stay for a night its okay.

I was allocated a small but clean room with shower and toilet. I was greeted by a helpful and friendly reception. Parking was free as was the Wi-Fi. The price was reasonable apart from the fact there was no heating. The room was cold and I left a day early because I found it so uncomfortable.

Don't believe the review rating 8.6. This is a very basic 3 star, should be 2 star. Reception was unmanned requiring a phone call to summon someone to book you in. Given a key we found our way to room unaccompanied and discovered a cold damp room with a very large area of black mould on the wall behind the bed headboard. To be fair, the girl who booked us in was very apologetic and moved us the the adjacent room which was heated and only had a small patch of mould on an outside wall. They don't serve breakfast and the local cafe recommended is closed on Sundays
