The hood was we only paid $80 for a room , very easy to get to and clean sheets and hood sized table in room. As other reviewers have said this is an old motel with old furnishings and rugs. Smelled musty too. Very basic and old. We did not have the noise that others talked about but we were at the far end of the motel

Don't be tricked by good reviews like I was. Motel 70 is run-down, in a bad location right next to interstate with road noise and nowhere to eat. We arrived for early checkin and NOBODY was there. I assumed I'd made a mistake and they were closed. When we did get into our room, it was grimy with animal smells. A wet, dirty washcloth was hanging on the showerhead. CREEPY. We bailed to Columbia. No refunds. Book elsewhere!

Writing this review for my parents who Aren’t very tech savvy. My parents cleaned their air conditioning units and completely got scammed when it came time for the owner to pay them. When they were close to being done with their work, he said that two of the air-conditioning units weren’t working anymore & made the comment “so what happens if they don’t work” my dad replied with “ well, they definitely should work when I’m done I will take a look at it” after his inspection of the first air conditioning unit that wasn’t working he noticed it had looked like a dog completely chewed up the cord which is why it wasn’t working (nothing to do with my parents) then, after inspecting the second unit the fan wasn’t working which my parents said it wasn’t working beforehand Before they did turn it on and the lights came on but the fan never worked. The owner said that unit did work, because a customer checked out of the room that morning but when my dad asked for proof the owner did not want to provide proof and was making all kinds of excuses.

We reserved a room at Motel 70 through *******. When we arrived at 7:20 pm on a Friday night, there were no cars in the parking lot, not even an employee’s car, and the entrance was also partially blocked off by small red cones. The place looked abandoned, with tufts of grass growing between the cracks, so we figured that they had been closed for awhile. While we were sitting there trying to figure out where we were going to stay now, a man dragging a large garbage bag appeared out of nowhere. We felt very uncomfortable, between no cars in the parking lot, the abandoned feel of the property, and now a strange bag man appearing out of nowhere, so we left. An hour later, I called Motel 70 to let them know that we had been there, but that their motel looked closed and we felt unsafe, so we wouldn’t be coming back for the night. He said that they were open, took my last name, then said okay. When we got home a few days later from our vacation, we discovered that they had charged us for the room anyway. I called them, and after a long discussion, asked if they could at least meet me halfway and return half of my money. He said no, and kept saying that his motel was very clean, which wasn’t my issue. So, they kept the full amount that we paid ($95.65: $89 plus $6.65 tax), and were probably able to rent the room to new customers for the night, even though he told me on the phone that he hadn’t been able to do that. My husband and I had stayed at six other hotels on our trip to Colorado and back, and this was the only one that treated us unfairly. Lesson learned…we will NEVER stay at Motel 70 in High Hill, Missouri in the future!

What a sweet surprise this place was! I booked it because of all the great reviews and it did not disappoint! It is literally the only thing off the highway at this exit, and as I drove toward it I thought "what have I gotten myself into?" But it exceeded all my expectations! The gentleman who checked me in was kind and interested, and upgraded me to a king room at no extra charge. The room itself was super clean, though parts seem a bit shabby. You can tell they are investing in the property to make it exceptional, and are on their way to success! The bed was super comfortable with lots of pillows. There was even a sound machine beside the bed if needed (I didn't use it). A fridge, microwave, and lots of TV choices. Great shower, though the towels were a bit thin...but clean and certainly did the job! This motel is exactly halfway for me on trips east and back, so I will be staying here again!

I was in the area working. We were renovating an old building that has been a bar for several decades. During the demolition phase we took down all interior walls and surfaces, LITERALLY years of cigarette smoke on everything we touched, my entire crew smelled like an ashtray at the end of the day. This motel kicked us out because they accused us of smoking in our room. Not a single member of our team smokes. They WOULDNT listen to our explanation, and WOULDNT return our money.

This hotel used to be a fave, well cared for & spotless. New owners are nice but sadly the property now looks tired & worn. Park in front of your own door, which is convenient, but the door latch for Room #11 was tricky & I had to go get front desk gal to help me figure out how to get into the room. Not a big deal but it was cold & raining... Carpet was stained & dirty, room was dusty w/cobwebs in the corner. Trash can had used tissues in it. Mini fridge had freezer section which was handly for refreezing blue ice packs. Had microwave but it wasn't clean. Coffee maker but no coffee packets. Linens were ok on the bed. Bath towels were bright white & I had a nice hot shower but sink & counters were stained & need to be replaced. Happily, the free wifi had great signal strength so I was able to check weather & routing for the rest of my trip, stream Netflix, etc. Easily accessible bedside outlets for charging electronics. Also bedside was Homedics white noise sound machine w/thunder, ocean, rain etc to help you forget about hwy noise. There was DirecTV programming w/lots of channels. Still, what used to be a charming old-school mom & pop hotel is now simply adequate for a quick overnight.

Dated? Yes. Clean? Yes? Essentials only? Yes. Good WiFi? Yes. But did need to drive a bit to get some supper. Restful sleep and and good shower perfect for a stop on the road. Reminds us of the old mom and pop type motels that use to dot our country. Thank you, Harry and family. 😊

For the record, I did not stay at this hotel. However, my daughter pulled off at Hotel 70 because her car broke down while driving on I-70. The manager would not let her keep her car there until we could have it towed. They had to sit in the parking lot for 2 hours while they waited for the tow truck to come. I think this is absolutely ridiculous. They had a ride come that vouched for the car and assured them the tow was on the way. Why on earth would you make someone sit in their car and wait in the freezing cold when they have assured you the truck was on the way. I understand if you have had issues with people dropping cars there in the past, but what happened to trusting someone’s word. Just ridiculous in my opinion and disappointed that our daughter was treated this way. Not a place I would recommend given this experience.
