We stayed for a weekend in October, booking direct and stayed in the four poster bed with views overlooking the valley (Principle room) which was just stunning. The furnishings and decor were really lovely, even if there were some issues - mould over the window and stonework and windows which hadn't been renovated to a reasonable standard. Some lovely touchs in the room nevertheless. We ate in the bar as the restaurant was somewhat deserted so the bar seemed like a cosier option. One member of staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, a really nice chap. The other made us feel awkward by complaining about his girlfriend complaining which wasn't really appropriate conversation to two guests who have arrived for a weekend's stay. The kitchen clearly has some talent but the prices were too high in comparison to other places of decent quality. Stand out dish was a pork belly dish starter, £25 for a burger didn't reflect what we had - the portobello burger was just disappointing. Breakfast meanwhile was excellent. I had a slight with an underdone (to my taste) poached egg and it was dealt with efficiently and I got a replacement very quickly. The breakfast/restaurant room is lovely. In the evening we did get some noise from the bar as we were right overhead - one of the staff was talking and laughing very loudly and perhaps didn't realise. Not a huge deal but worth mentioning. I'd also suggest that if Simonstone Hall is aiming to be a boutique country house hotel of standards, the staff need to be trained in being more discreet and not spend an evening socialising with guests. We booked the hot tub and I phoned down to reception to ask if there were any slippers and got no response, so we went down to reception to ask. The initial response the woman on reception was "no they're not in their usual space", then "You can just walk out there and then dry off your feet". She was really unhelpful, curt and gave us the impression that our presence was an irritation. She then barked at us that she will go and check if it's ready "as you're here early". We were not early, we'd arrived at the time booked. So we waited in the chilly reception area whilst staff moved around outside doing what they could have been doing in the hours before our alloted time. The hot-tub once we got in there was a lovely experience, the tub was a little greasy from other people I guess but I'm not too worried about that and we were allowed to stay in the tub a little longer than our allocated time. After about 10 minutes of us being in there the woman from reception dropped off the slippers for us, after that she also dropped off a key saying she was leaving for the day. She actually gave us someone else's key and learnt that someone else had to be let into their room by housekeeping. You cannot have someone on reception who manages to be officious but not efficient. That was a really bad experience and after reading the review responses by the owner, we will not b

We visited for the four course Sunday lunch. We had a very warm welcome, and the service from everybody we met was exceptional. Really friendly place and service was faultless. Food was absolutely wonderful and beautifully presented. Looking forward to visiting again.

Excellent experience at Simonstone Hall Hotel. For a relaxing, wonderful break choose Simonstone Hall Hotel. This was our 4th stay and every principal room we have stayed in has been exceptional. Comfort and luxury and helpful staff are combined to create a fabulous experience. The food is fantastic, the chef is a marvel. The grounds are lovely. We cannot recommend Simonstone highly enough.

My wife and I have stayed at Simondstone twice in the past and intended to revisit in November 2024 for 3 nights. I thought I'd check out the Tripadvisor reviews before booking. We enjoyed our previous two visits - I may have left reviews on those occasions , I can't remember. I started to read the reviews and they were mostly good but when I reached any with complaints, criticism or low marks I was astonished by the response of the owner, Jake D. I've never read responses on Tripadvisor so unprofessional and insulting even to minor criticism So for the first time in 14 years as a Tripadvisor user I have been put off booking not because of reviews but because of the response of the owner to those reviews. We've now booked another Yorkshire hotel and I expect other business has been lost by Simonstowe for the same reason.

We had a fabulous four night break staying at Simonstone hall, one of the most friendly places we have ever stayed. The staff were more like family with everyone so approachable. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meals, all of which were absolutely excellent, with the Feather blade beef being one of the outstanding choices on the evening menu. The location is ideal for visitors wanting to explore the upper dales, and see the local wildlife, including red squirrels. The resident peacocks Do add some style to the hall and gardens. We hope we can return again possibly in summer next time. Many thanks to all of the team for making our visit so welcoming. Ian & Sue

We have had a three night stay and have enjoyed the whole experience. The food has been exceptional. Work of art on a plate and delicious. The staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Beautiful old building which must take some massive upkeep. It’s been tastefully restored. Thank you.

I stayed at this hotel for one night last October and it was a lovely little get away set in the amazing Yorkshire countryside. The hotel is traditional but nicely decorated and has a very cozy feel about it, the staff were also excellent. It’s set in a beautiful location and is truly the embodiment of Englands green and pleasant land. I would highly recommend going to Hawes for a walk and sampling some of the great shops and pubs there. The restaurant serving the evening meal at Simonstone is simply fantastic and the breakfast was also really good, unfortunately it’s getting rarer and rarer to find good spots for a proper traditional full English breakfast but this place does a superb breakfast. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a night away with stunning countryside and superb food and drinks.

Ridiculously overpriced. We had the "Bar Menu" which was £29 for a miniscule Sea Bass. Hotel was deathly quiet which, in retrospect can be explained by the Michelin Star prices at a 3 Star hotel. Four of us ate and cost £250 - the night before we had a far better meal with proper sized portions in a lovely atmosphere at the Green Dragon pub a mile away for less than £100. Go figure....
