Travelodge Hexham
9.1 (41 reviews)

Travelodge Hexham ★★★

📍 Unit 3, Gate Retail Park, Hexham

"We stayed for one night. A cheerful greeting on arrival and we were given information about our stay. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and it was a good size room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of hot and cold choice and was decent quality. Our only negative was that the toilet space in the bathroom was somewhat snug!!"

Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

📍 Coal Rd, Hexham

"Very friendly staff, very clean."

Langley Castle Hotel

Langley Castle Hotel ★★★★

📍 Langley Castle Hotel, Haydon

"We had a wonderful birthday weekend at Langley Castle. The grounds are stunning, and the location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland countryside and coast. We stayed in the Castle Lodge, which was excellent. Huge thanks to the staff, especially Aidan and Ellie, for being so welcoming and professional. Dinner at the Josephine Restaurant was a highlight—the birthday surprise (chocolate truffles!) for my partner was a very thoughtful touch. After a superb cooked-to-order breakfast and a guided tour the next day, we left feeling very impressed. Highly recommended!"

The Pheasant Inn
9.3 (66 reviews)

The Pheasant Inn ★★★★

📍 Kielder Forest, Stannersburn Near, Falstone

"Stayed at The Pheasant for a family weekend away. Truly gorgeous country pub. Right next to Kielder reservoir and forest so perfect for all the activities available there. Robin and Angela (and Annabel) are superb hosts and create a lovely atmosphere. Excellent food, great beers and wines and lovely open fires. And the rooms are superb too. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Highly recommend."

George Hotel
7.9 (102 reviews)

George Hotel ★★★

📍 B6320, Chollerford, Hexham

"The hotel is in a very good location, convenient for visiting Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding countryside. There is a small river flowing next to it, and the scenery is very beautiful. The hotel is a bit old, but it is well maintained, and the bathroom seems to have been renovated. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot. The breakfast is good, but dinner is not all-inclusive. You have to order it yourself, within 25 pounds, and you don't get a refund if you pay more, and you get more if you pay less, which is a bit unusual."

The Railway Hotel
8.1 (49 reviews)

The Railway Hotel ★★★★

📍 1 Church St, Haydon Bridge

"We were looking for a place to stay near to Vindolanda Roman site. The Railway Hotel in Hayden Bridge filled our requirements perfectly. From the first moment we spoke on the telephone, the warm welcome when we arrived, the excellent and well appointed rooms and the wonderful breakfast. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, we can’t recommend highly enough. Dinner was great too. We loved the South African food. Five stars. Thank you for a wonderful stay."

Rose & Crown
9.1 (38 reviews)

Rose & Crown ★★★

📍 Main Street, Slaley

"A group of my friends visited the Rose and Crown. It was suggested that e should pre-order which we did a few days before our meal. The menu is large but you can order with several changes to the menu. Two of us arrived at 6.15pm but the parking places were almost full. When most of us met up inside the inn a lady came to us and checked our orders near the bar. It would have been much better if we had been taken to our booked table rather than block the bar end. Some meals were in short supply yet we had pre-ordered. This meant some of my friends had to change their choice of meal. Eventuall we were taken to our table. Still more checksand alterations to somr chosen meals. I noticed that two couples who took up tables nearby yet ordered after us were uicfkly served by another waiter. Eventually our meals arrived. My gammon was a little over-cooked and dry as there were no moist, juicy areas. Most members of the group dine out once ot twice a week. In the majority of restaurants I normally only order one meal. I was taught in the 30s not to waste any food and I did National Service where so I still try to leave an empty plate. It is a long time since I ordered a dessert but I felt I had room for one. This surprised my friends. It is a long time since I last visited this village owned inn. The manager of this inn needs to get a grip of the inns management to cut out trivial changes from the menu to what you ordered. The meals are a little expensive and a shade smaller compared with other restaurants I have visited. Nevertheless I am pleased I and my friends supported the village owned inn."

The Railway Hotel ★★★★
"Arrived around 5 pm, went up to the bar. The young lady in the bar said we should have had an email and text explaining that cooked food was not available at the moment and we would have to go somewhere else for some food (we received no email or texts). We were then taken to our room and given a key. As we had been driving for over 7 hours, we had planned to eat our main meal when we arrived. As a result we walked over the bridge going over the river and found another pub/hotel who were very helpful and we had homemade steak and kidney pudding which was delicious. Our room had two single beds, a kettle with some tea and coffee. A built in wardrobe and en suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and wash basin. We also had towels, shampoo and shower gel supplied. The shower was ok for a freshen up. The beds were very soft and comfortable. Breakfast was in a small room downstairs which was a help yourself basis and you had a few cereals and bread/toast to choose from. We stayed for two nights, any longer would have been a bit of a push, but we only needed the room to stop over and it's in a nice quiet location. If you plan to get the train to Newcastle or Carlisle the train station is just down the road. There's lots of pretty areas close by. Overall, the service is very basic but it did the job for a short trip. "

Brown Rigg Guest Rooms ★★★
"Exceptionally clean beautiful bedding extras like a place to put hot items like hair straighter and tv controls were in a new plastic bag to maintain cleanliness. The shared facilities including kitchen were also outstanding. I took my neice to see the Perseids meteor shower as this is a dark sky area, we also saw the Milky Way thousands of stars and the northern lights. Quiet immaculate place in the middle of the countryside in darks sky very beautiful. The only difficulty for us is that we arrived on a very hot day, the room was very warm even with the fan but this was extreme weather! I did love the shutters on the windows though great for keeping the shade if you want. Lovely welcome from the staff and shown around so we knew where facilities were"
