This wonderful hotel oozes old-fashioned charm and service, all to forgotten in the fast pace hotel world. Beautifully situated on the cliffs overlooking the ocean this wonderful establishment shows its true pedigree, with its outstanding team members, lead by the attentive general manager Melissa Theron and backed up by her Management team with the charismatic and Jovial duty manager Patrick, who is very much part of the fabric of this establishment, and the warm and caring nature of Tammy the food and beverage supervisor. Everything from the security on the front gate all the way through the establishment, the beautiful smiles reflect the dedication to the hospitality industry, all are a credit to the Marine hotel and are ambassadors to tourism in the beautiful town of Hermanus. As a former hotelier, I would be proud and blessed to have every single one of these team members as part of my team. As a regular user of the facilities even from a cup of coffee through to the fabulous meals they offer, they always welcome you with open hearts and open arms. Had a splendid 2 night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The staff made us feel so welcome. They are exceptionally polite and well informed on the surrounding area. We were provided with a map full of helpful suggestions, and a thorough introduction to the lodge and all it's facilities upon check-in. The lodge is located right next to Hermanus New Harbour and a few steps from the cliff path, which is well worth the walk. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. It opens onto a beautiful, well maintained garden area but a few steps from the pool. Breakfast was fantastic (reccommend the Full English!), and a lovely selection of breads, cereals, fruits, cold meats, yogurts etc at the buffet. Truly, no complaints. Would absolutely stay again.

It was our first time in Hermanus and Cliff Cottage was the perfect place to stay. The property is a charming thatched cottage in a great location situated on the coastal road between Hermanus town centre and the old Port. The property has secure off-road parking and a beautiful garden in which to relax and eat outside weather permitting. It was a short walk from the property to the coastal path. Our room was extremely clean and well appointed with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was amazing - there was so much chioice of delicious home-cooked food that it was difficult to know what to choose. There was definitely something for everyone. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. Cliff Cottage was the perfect place for us to stay and I would happily stay there again on any future visits.

Luxurious accommodation in Hermanus, South Afica. Walking distance from the town center and near restaurants and the sea. Excellent service at affordable rates. Based conveniently near art galleries and exquisite shops. Spacious clean rooms, beautiful interior, safe parking and a child friendly environment. Whale watching, shark diving, hiking trails and wine tasting routes to name a few activities we enjoyed. What a whale of a pleasure staying at Port del Mar. We enjoyed every minute of our stay with host Martin Delport. Highly recommended. We want to thank you and your staff for this memorable holiday.

I liked Baleia. Friendly staff and check-in, even when we were a bit late. Rooms were big and had everything needed. Location and breakfast were good. The only downside is that they seem to have run out of hot water due to a big group staying there. Considering the price, not having hot water was not great, imo. Hopefully this won’t be an issue for other guests in the future.
