5! Ms. Ramirez, thank you for that welcoming message. You are unique in the hospitality business! I would like to share our story so you can appreciate your staff and your ability to train professionals in hospitality. We originally reserved a room at the other local Holiday Inn. Upon checking in, there was no acknowledgement of being a IHG member nor our Holiday Inn Vacation Club membership. That was fine but unusual when checking in to any Holiday Inn property. We registered and went up to our room. Unfortunately when we opened the door the room had a strong cigarette smoke smell. We immediately returned to the front desk to request another room only to be denied because of a policy that once a room was assigned, there could not be any room changes. We explained we could not sleep in that room. She told us there was nothing she could do. So we asked to cancel the reservation and her reply was ”there are no refunds”. We were stunned. We arrived at your hotel and were graciously greeted by Vee Blyden who patiently listened to our plight. He responded with the words we were hoping to hear ”I can help you with this”. He was so personable and professional that we were immediately relieved. Vee truly made us feel like we were welcomed guests! As we have extended a one night stay into four nights, we have interacted with others on your staff and all were friendly and professional. You have created and nurtured an amazing team. Congratulations on your efforts to provide an exceptional guest experience!

The location of the hotel is very good, very close to the outlet. The facilities are relatively complete. The room is very clean, the bed is large and comfortable. The front desk is very friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. The only drawback is the wifi. It will be disconnected. I don’t know if there are too many users and the signal is not strong enough, or if I haven’t set it up properly.

Location was great. Directly across the freeway from the outlet malls. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. The room was more like an apartment with a full-size fridge, countertop stove, ,microwave - complete with dishwasher - It even had cooking utensils and dishes. Great 3 day weekend. And staff is so eager to please.

ZZPRO: Good interior decoration.
CONS: Poor management, poor service and communication, unpleasant noise from Air Conditioning.
We booked a Lucky Arrow cabin via Trip.com. Shortly after the completion of payment, we received a confirmation email from Trip.com with a receipt attached. ”Please show your confirmation number and PIN number to the reception.” ” Check-in after 16:00.” ” 2- person breakfast included.” We later found out that none of this information was correct.
(1) When we arrived at Lucky Arrow Retreat around 7pm, there was no reception to be found and we were trapped outside a closed gate. We tried the PIN number from the email, it turned out to be incorrect. I called Lucky Arrow a total of 8 times and sent a message to an ”assistance number” printed on the lock of the gate. No one answered the phone. We were stuck outside the gate for 20 minutes and very frustrated. While we waited, there was no reply back from Lucky Arrow. We almost drove to Austin to find somewhere else to stay. We eventually got a text message back asking our names and gave us the instruction of how to unlock the main gate and our reserved cabin.
After we got past the main gate, we found there was literally nobody managing the property. We did not feel safe staying here due to the lack of any assistance from them if there is any emergency going on during our stay.
(2) There was no breakfast despite what was advertised.
(3) The exit gate remained OPEN when we were leaving after self check-out. It appears that anyone can drive in from that exit gate which gives the guests no privacy and makes the place unsafe.
The Lucky Arrow Retreat needs a lot of improvement in communication, as we did not receive any information regarding the check-in procedure and it was difficult to contact any staff during our stay.
Service at the hotel was excellent. Maria, Luna and Nate went above and beyond. Choice Privileges with their new convoluted and non user friendly process mangled my reservation and refused to help even though they took points out of my account and said I was there a day before I'd even left on the trip. Calls to the hotel and great service and they made right what corporate had bungled. Room was excellent, spacious and clean. Slept great. Only strange thing was the lights next to the bed were tied to the switch by the door. Breakfast was the usual but it was fresh and well maintained. The staff made up for the corporate failings.
11globaltraveler2Employees are pleasant but seem poorly trained, which has not changed in 3 visits. Am a Platinum Elite IHG Member but this provides ZERO benefits at this hotel, which basically plagues the entire IHG Rewards Program, which is known to over-hype & under-deliver. Parking lot was basically empty when I arrived at 1:45PM in the middle of the week & approached the front desk to ask if it was possibly to check-in 75 minutes before the 3P check-in time? The front desk employee DID NOT ask my name or made NO inquiry about my reservation, type of room OR any IHG Rewards status. This employee could have been offering the exact same welcome to someone wandering into an IHG property for the very 1st time Worldwide, rather than a Platinum Elite Member with 2 million points. He could have cared less & this is a hallmark of the IHG Rewards Program overall. He looked up from his telephone & simply replied: ”There are no rooms available & check-in is not until 3P” & he then looked back down at his phone. Interaction completed. Love it when unconcerned & totally uninformed hotel front desk employees respond in this manner. It is the same as telling a guest that there is not a single room in the property available NOW, but in 60, 90 or 120 minutes, EVERY ROOM in the property will suddenly become available at the SAME time. Nonsensical at best. Many of the chairs in the breakfast room were so stained we would not sit in them, as was the heavily stained chaise lounge in the room. Housekeeping overall was acceptable this time, & the employees overseeing the breakfast room are a vast improvement compared to previous visits. Other than the older front desk gentleman who does not realize that IHG Platinum Elite status INCLUDES ”early check-in & late check-out”, all other front desk employees were quite pleasant & helpful. Platinum Elite states also supposedly includes ”complimentary room upgrades”, but 90+++% of IHG properties are either totally unaware of this part of the program or are directed to simply ignore it. Do not remember the last time I received a FACTUAL room upgrade at ANY IHG property Worldwide, so this property was no exception.
The hotel charged me the inflated weekend daily rate of $80 for one night instead of the $346 weekly rate I requested. The management flunky at the front desk agreed to apply the $80 to the $346 weekly rate after giving me significant grief over their mistake. When we discovered a week later that she had not applied the credit correctly, we called to inquire about it. She continually intertupted and became belligerent before hanging up on me - twice. She also refused to give her name. This has to be the most disgusting example of unprofessionalism I have ever witnessed from a hotel chain ever
SsherryhoukMy complaint number is 9531579 - I originally had a reservation for Sat, July 27, 2019. I called Friday evening to inquire if there were any rooms available for that day and was advised that there was one room. I asked the clerk to add Friday to my reservation and was told it was taken care of. What actually happened was the clerk cancelled my Saturday, July 26, 2019 reservation. When I had the July 26 date added, I was very specific and told the clerk at least three times that we still needed the July 27 reservation as we would be in San Marcos until Sunday. We arrived late Friday night and got our room and then I discovered early Saturday morning that our reservation for Saturday was cancelled and there were no rooms available. I became frantic as I know that most hotels in San Marcos are completely booked on Saturdays during the summer. When I contacted the manager and told him the problem and that I was upset, he told me not to be upset with him as he wasn't responsible and he was there when the clerk cancelled our reservation. He offered to take $15 off our bill and I told him that was not enough for our inconvenience. H asked me what I wanted and I told him to keep my room and my reservation and if not to comp it and to find me a decent hotel as I know there aren't any. I asked why I should be inconvenienced and he had no answer. I asked to contact a customer that had not checked in yet and find them a room and he refused. He found a room at a bed and breakfast on the square. When I told the manager that was not good enough he told me not his problem and hung up on me. I called the complaint line and he did end up taking $40 off our bill, but I feel that was not good enough due to the stress and inconvenience. I called several hotels and they were all booked, so we went to the bed and breakfast and the air went out at about midnight. Our trip was miserable due to the ineptness of the staff at the Comfort Suites. The manager needs to be trained better customer service. We are Choice Members, but after this experience, I am hesitant to stay in another Choice Hotel.
Ffeir0826This property punches well above its weight. For the pricing point, its a stunner, indeed its superior to many more expensive motels I have stayed at.
